Can you bear watching animal slaughtering?

Can you bear watching a chicken getting killed (head chopped off) or a pig getting slaughted or a goat being forced to drink vinegar (that's what I know how some cultures kill the animal) or a cow getting slaughtered? Or are you the type of person who can't fathom watching how your food's getting prepared? I was watching "Worlds Apart" a few days ago and there was this lady who just can't watch the chicken's head getting chopped off. She was like saying "eewww" and all all the time. So this lady's foster family says that that was how the chicken gets prepared anyways. But the lady just couldn't stand it. What about you?

that's completely different. I couldn't watch an animal being assaulted. just as I couldn't watch an animal being slaughtered with inhumane techniques.

Being raised in farm country it is nothing new to me. I have done my fair share of catching and cleaning chickens. Not problem what so ever. We raised pigs for market. All 1,000 of them and also helped with the butchering of them. So it no biggy Also hunt moose, deeer, bear, ducks, geese, partridge and small game. Can assist and clean anything that comes along Only thing I won't kill is a rabbit. Cause if you only wound them they cry like a baby Brings tears to my eyes and breaks my heart to hear them. I am not cruel person but can live with the facts of life Wendy

well i get used to kill chicken by cutting off the head and take off their feathers by blanching into boiling water. that's the way chicken should be killed and cleaned. we all like chicken right? i once a fresh chicken vendor, now i am a computer staff.

Hey Asteriskec, I can stand it. I have watched a sheep, a cow, pig and a bull get slaughtered for food, at different times. Its fast, bloody and the warm blood makes the other animals go crazy insane. Its not something to watch for fun, no way, If you have a strong stomach you will cope if you dont you will be sick... I use to watch alot of home kills, from the hunt, when I was growing up. Actually Ive cut up a whole medium pig with an axe and a butchers knife, for my cousins wedding. I didnt want too, but had to in the end. A grim thing to see...

No I will not watch it. I do know where our food comes from, but I do not want to see it alive before I eat it. I do not care to witness the slaughter of the animals.

Nope - I don't eat much meat as it is but if I watched stuff like that, even if it's done humanely, I'd never be able to eat meat at all.

Yeah, I can for the most part. I can't watch animals be tortured though. But I can watch them get killed for food mostly. Seeing chickens getting their head cut off I'm fine with. I mean why not, I'm going to end up eating it anyways. I havent seen a pig get slaughtered. Ive seen them being cut open, drained, chopped up after they were killed though. Never bothered me. But let me stop before I start rambling on and on lol. Basically, I don't have a problem with seeing it as long as it's not torture.

I cannot stand to view any violence and the thought of watching an animal being slaughtered turns my stomach. I became aware of factory farming years ago and since then I have never eaten meat. I became an animal activist and would go on many protests against animal cruelty. I really love the film Apocolyspe Now, but I have to turn away at the end when the cow is being slaughtered. I saw it once and it affected me for ages, so now when I watch this film I never see this part. It fills me with a feeling of dread and I just cannot understand how someone could take a life with no remorse. Even writing about it makes me feel quite sick.

Oh no I saw on TV once a man doing a re enactment of how he survived by drinking the blood of an animal and he grabbed this animal as if he was going to cut its throat and when I saw the fear in that animals eyes I stopped eating meat....it breaks my heart every time I see a truck load of animals being taken to the slaughter house, I always feel i want to climb up on the truck and set them free...

i have no problems with killing animals to eat it. I helped my father when i was child, because we had a pig. I have problem with killing animals when there is no need, for example fir clothes and to keep animals like things, for example in big chicken or pig farms. The pig my parents had had a great life, no anbtibiotics and hormons and could walk free. when it was one year old it was killed, and the family had meat for the whole year.

It isnt quite that bad for me becasue I grew up in the country and we had chickens and my father did slaughter them when they didnt produce eegs anymore. Seeing an animsl getting slaughtered is just a part of life an the food chain.

yes, I can bring myself to watch humane slaughter of animals. I don't think I could watch a goat being forced to drink vinegar, that sounds barbaric. I'm an omnivore. if I couldn't watch it, then I've no business being an omnivore. that would make me a hypocrite if I couldn't watch it. to be honest, if I had been shown how to do it correctly, I'm fairly confident that I could do it myself. it's so important that people understand every aspect of where their food comes from.

Noooooooooo...... I can't even finished reading your words, cause I'm afraid to know something horrible. I cry when I watch in the tv about animals being killed. When I was a little, I also cry watching chicken being killed by my servant. And I can't stand to see chicken head on the dinner table... Maybe I'm just a cry baby.

I couldn't stand seeing the animals get killed. I don't know, somehow I feel so sorry for them. When I look at their eyes, I pity them. I almost cried when I watched a documentary about slaughtering pigs and even horses. I have this soft spot for animals. Although I've got to admit they're delicious. :))
