Do you rearrange furniture much?

The rearranged room - We moved things around so my husband could get from his bed to his chair without having to go through an obstacle course.

I seldom rearrange furniture, but we did a massive rearrangement this weekend. We needed to set things up better so my husband can get around a bit easier. He is getting steadily weaker and will be spending more and more time in bed, now. Anyway, I am embarrassed about how much dirt and dust I found behind and under stuff. No wonder our allergies have been bad! Now everything in his end of the room is pretty neat, but the rest of the house is in chaos! I can't find anything! Guess I will get stuff straight again one of these days.

I seldom rearrange furniture, because I cannot find everything after the rearrangement. My mother once tried to rearrange furniture in my room but she failed. When I found I cannot find everything in my room I removed the furniture in the old position. For many Chinese, they seldom rearrange furniture.Because Chinese people believe the concept of "home" is a word which means stability.Rearranging furniture is considered to be a significant of chage. So just minority people would like to frequently rearrange furniture in home.

You are right about trouble finding things once they have been moved. I like the idea of home and stability. Thank you for sharing a Chinese idea with me.

I normally rearrange everything every six months or so. Sometimes sooner but on average twice a year. Problem is right now not much I can do to make things work better or different. It's driving me nuts. I want to rearrange and I can't. I'm still trying to figure things out to make it work. Our house is really laid out weird with too many openings and not enough full solid walls and it limits what we can do. One of these days though everyone will wake up and find the house all rearranged and wonder what has happened.

I know what you mean. I can't rearrange my bedroom because placement of doors and windows only allow the bed in one spot.

That's basically our problem. Only so many places you can put things. It really bugs me too. oh well one of these days I'll figure out something that will work and then watch out.

I try to in our family room. That is where I spend the most time. I don't know why but it just seems to look nicer after things are changed a little.

I rearrange our furniture in the lounge all the time, at least once every week or two weeks. You will be amazed how much dirt, food/crumbs and junk that gets chucked under the rugs, chairs, behind the seats at my home. The bedroom furniture gets moved once every couple of months. I've just gone through all our stuff and got rid of the things we don't use anymore and have stored the rest in the garage. I'm now clutter free :P

Hi there. I dont really bother to re-arrange our furniture, its not that important to me, what is important, is that I move furniture around so that I can vaccum behind, under and over things, to keep our home dust free, well I try too anyway...

I applaud you for that. I'm too lazy to bother much of the time. I hate housecleaning. I'd rather post on myLot!

I found that I rearranged furniture a lot when there was some sort of turmoil in my life. It seemed that whenever something bothered me, some sort of dissatisfaction, I had to move something. That hasn't happened for a long time, in my home. It has happened at work upon occassion. I guess I am saying that the state of my mind is reflected in the state of my house, be it rearranging furniture or lack of good housekeeping. I also noticed that the more I give my problems to God, the less I need to rearrange "my world". A control issue?!

I don't rearange things much. Once I find a spot for something it usually stays ther for a very long time. If it isn't the right spot for it, I still leave it there lol. I can almost always find my stuff when I want it even though my place looks very unorganized.

I am not so frequent in rearranging furniture. It is a bit labourious work and the pattern of my room where furnitures are set up adjusting with the space of the room and other necessary stuffs. So I dont like to disturb the arrangement so frequently.

I was born with a lot of allergies, susieq, that's why I always pay extra attention to all my surroundings. I make sure that no dust is accumulated for too long. I may be weary at times trying to tidy up my house. But it is better than to face the consequence of having an allergy attack. Its costly too.

Too funny. I can't really rearrange our furniture because how our living room and dining room are built. But I always always flip the couches up on their sides to vacuum before we have expected company at the house. If I don't do it? Someone will move furniture and see all the dust bunnies and fruit loops! It's nasty! Good luck on getting all that straightened out, I know it can be hard, but one thing at at time and you'll get it all done.

I have finally gotten the one room (the other half of the room my honey is in) pretty straight. Now I'm working on the other rooms. Why does rearranging one room mess up four others?

I usually rearrange furniture (and clean behind and under haha) every 4 - 6 months. One reason I just like to change things up a bit from time to time, and it also keeps the carpets from having a 'high' traffic pattern worn in them. And it keeps my boyfriend on his toes when he comes in from work, sometimes he has to work late! lol When I do rearrange, I usually have a basket ( a small laundry basket works) to put stuff in that I will need to sort to other places/rooms. It helps save on how many unproductive trips I make up and down the stairs. It also helps, because if I don't finish the sorting, I can sit the basket in a closet or out of the way.

Oh dear well I think in this case that you would of had to do a massive rearrangement due to your husband's health conditions seeing he cannot get around and he is weaker. Oh yes sometimes we can get an extreme surprise when we start to clean properly and move furniture around the home as this is what has happened to us before as well. Yes well what I did is to work on getting everything sorted out by doing just an hour at a time and this way it eventually did get clean but now that we have moved I have to do this again.

How I wish I could do that! I haven't had much time for the past year that I can't even clean my room. I get pretty tied up with work, more work and my kid. The most taht I can do to my room is to sweep the floor and that's it. We have a lot of my daughter's toys scattered everywhere, a little here and there and I've given up on stashing them in big bags because she still takes it out anyways. I have yet to schedule general cleaning and major makeover to make it more spacious. We both have allergies too, that's why a major clean up is just what we needed to do.

You know i love rearranging furnitures. As in moving inside and outside, placing left and placing it right side, upward and sideward. I love seeing a new atmosphere in my house, a new setting. Why? Because i'm very fun looking around seeing that my new cabinet is at the side facing the main door, or my table is at the corner, at the side of the fridge..something like that. Because it gives me beauty of my house, even i can't buy a new furnitures or a new appliances but if i place it in some other ways, it makes my house brand new. So i'm happy to it.
