arterio venous malformations what are they? - AVMS explained
Canada

Sorry to have been so quiet the last couple of days .I had some bad news on Wednesday at my neurologist appointment. My Dr and the vascular surgeon in the lager medical center about 6 hours from here had a video conference and after looking at my scans they have found my arterio venous malformation or AVM for short to deep in the brain to remove. They both feel I would not survive the surgery. Since the lesion is to large for radiation I am now on drug to relieve the pressure in the brain. I'm sorry I have not been myself I just needed a day or to to feel good and sorry for myself but now that has pasted lol. I know I can live a good long life with it there no one is guaranteed a tomorrow. Heck you can get hit by a bus crossing the street. I guess i just wanted it to be out of my body. But I"m doing fine now. I leave for Toronto and if you know Canada at all it's our largest city. I will be away for two weeks taking care of John's mom and dad after his mom's surgery. but the have to PC's so I'll be on line have no fear. I want to apologize to my friends at being so remiss in not commenting on there discussions please forgive me and know I'll be right back at it next week. I'm just going to add what an AVM is for anyone who isn't familiar AVM stands for Arteriovenous Malformation. An AVM is a tangle of abnormal and poorly formed blood vessels (arteries and veins). They have a higher rate of bleeding than normal vessels. AVMs can occur anywhere in the body. Brain AVMs are of special concern because of the damage they cause when they bleed. They are very rare and occur in less than 1% of the general population. AVMs that occur in the coverings of the brain are called dural AVMS.

I am very sorry about your condition & the fact that the Doctors can't operate. It is possible in years to come, that they will have the technology to operate safely. I hope the medication they are giving you is to stop the AVM from bursting. In the meantime, pplease do not worry that you can't be on My Lot very often. By the way, I have been to Toronto. I had a lovely time there & especially enjoyed the Great Lakes.

Oh Cheryl, I'm sorry to hear your news, but I'm glad to hear you are doing so well with it. It's good that you gave yourself a few days to think about it and learn to accept it. That will be fun to go shopping for the new house while you are in Toronto! I'm sure you will have a great time. It will keep your spirits up, too. I know you are a strong person and can make it through, though.
