Do you cook with or without chicken skin on?

A lot of people will say that "real chicken" has the skin on. Of course KFC isn't KFC without that crispy skin to most but they've also realized how many prefer skinless chicken too. Do you cook with or without the skin on the chicken?

If I'm making a whole chicken, then it's with the skin on. But I usually make chicken thighs, without the skin. (Helathy and inexpensive).

A whole chicken or chicken for the grill I keep the skin on. If im going to make soup, chicken strips, or pieces I like the skin off. And KFC crispy is the best!!!

Most of us in Sri Lanka believe that the tastiest part of the chicken is the skin. So we not only cook the chicken with the skin, but we also serve it with the skin. I eat the skin like a glutton. But this is not the case with most other animals.

I always cook with the skin on. The skin is where the fat is, and that's where the taste is, it helps retain moisture too. For presentation and less calories, though I always serve skinless.

I agree, the skin does make it much more moist. I rarely cook chicken pieces myself so it's normally not a big deal for me but I will say that I don't bat an eye most of the time when it comes to eating a piece of KFC chicken and the skin on it! LOL

It all depends on what kind of chicken I am making. I love boneless, skinless chicken on the grill. I use this in tossed salads, quesadillas, and just eating plain in the summer. I cook with chicken skin on when we roast a chicken in the oven. Rub a bit of butter and the lemon pepper seasoning on it. Yum! Shake and Bake chicken - leave the skin on- it’s what gets crispy- and one of my daughters favorites. So I guess it just depends on what type of chicken we are in the mood for.

Even though it costs a bit more to have the butchers do it, we usually buy the skinless chicken at stores. You can make them just as tasty as the ones with skin, and in the meantime trim off lots and lots of calories and fat.

I eat almost all the part on the chicken meat including the skin. I cook my chicken with the skin on and I find the chicken without the skin did not gives the real taste of a chicken in my food. I just love the crispy fried chicken skin in spices flour.

CJ's favorite chicken is with the skin on but it has to be really crispy. If there's a hint of grease he won't eat it and then I have to take skin off. I also like a good fried chicken at times and I'm the same way. Great minds think alike I guess. But I do like cooking chicken without skin in casseroles and boiling for salads, etc. Better for you, that's for sure.

no, I donñt like too greasy food, and it´s so bad for cholesterol, I can eat KFC once in a while but not frequently.

i only like the skin if its fried and crispy. otherwise i just cant stand the "squishy" texture of it. if it is a whole chicken then i leave the skin on but i will allow it to crisp a bit before pulling it out of the oven. i prefer chicken skinless and unless im baking a whole one (or buying KFC lol) then i always remove the skin..even to bbq.

I agree, the skin is kind of slimey or something. LOL I generally will only eat KFCs skin and even then sometimes I can't eat it but I'll pick off the crispies.

I buy it without the skin but it really is the best part. I will have the skin when eating chicken outside.

unless it's fried or stuffed chicken,i'll remove the skin.i don't really like it if it's loose on there. i buy the skinless chicken most of the time, though it's a little bit more expensive.

in Indonesia there're street vendors who sell chicken skin fries and it's sooo delicious. but my mom said chicken meat won't absorb any fat from the skin during cooking, skin will protect the meat from drying out during cooking and it will add a little extra flavor. so i always leave the skin on during cooking and peel it away afterward.

Interesting! Do you know what spices and such they put on it? I agree, many people say that as long as you cook the chicken with the skin off and take it off before eating there are very few fats and calories taken in but the chicken stays moist.

I prefer skin on the chicken when it is cooking. The skin seals in the juices better. When I serve it I leave it up to the person eating it to leave it on if they want. I will remove it because I don't need the extra fat or calories. There are times however that I will leave it on and eat it. But, that is only on rare occasions. The skin has to be extra crispy for me to eat it. The slimy wimpy skin just doesn't do it for me.

I love to eat chicken skin! the cripsy ones suits my taste. :) That's why if Mom cooks chicken, it should have a skin on it. It's my favorite. :

I cook it both ways. I like to use skinless chicken for cooking inside. I usually use skin-on chicken when I am cooking on the grill. I think that leaving the skin on when cooking on the grill makes the chicken stay moist.

Mostly I cook chicken without skin for a number of reasons, but mostly for the fact that it lowers the fat content of the meal when the skin is removed. I usually either grill the chicken or lightly coat it with one egg and some breading and seasonings. It's just as tasty and juicy as if it were cooked with the skin on and frankly I don't miss the skin at all now.

I prefer to cook with the skin on. The skin has always been my favorite part. However, sometimes I do buy skinless chicken and I marinade it with a salad dressing concoction and it's pretty good. But still nothing really beats skin.
