Different discussion subject names - but same thing

I have had a few of my friends starting discussions under various topics, such as adhd - health conditions that concern me, etc. I am asked if I would like to add this interest to my list, in order to post a new topic at some stage. That is fine, and I don't have a problem with it. What does confuse me is things like 'jokelot' and 'sharing jokes'. These two really are the same type of thing, and yet they are listed as two different interest types. Do you think that myLot staff should go through and change things like this, or is it okay the way it is. I understand that some things can be similar, but those two in particular really are the same thing. What to others think of it?

Ouch Bel, where myLot is concerned, I think they should leave things alone. LOL It does seem however that whenever they make some sort of "improvement", something goes wrong elsewhere in the forum. That leads to all sorts of confusion and consternation amongst the members. So, personally I am all for myLot leaving things be and letting the members work it out. Yes, it can be confusing and part of the reason I am certain relates to how people see things. For a while there were a lot of spamming going on when someone put a tag of "joke" or "humour" on their discussion. So, it could be that this is why they now have separate interests listed as "jokelot" and "sharing jokes". It could just be an attempt made by some members to stop the spamming of their posts. The thing with health conditions is that they do need to be broken down a little. Perhaps not to the indepth level that it seems they are. A person who has a major interest in say ADHD, might not be at all interested in menopause for example. I am not sure how it should be separated, and whether it should be classed as perhaps "childhood", "ageing" and so on. That might be a bit more appropriate, and although something like ADHD is not solely a childhood problem, that is often where it is diagnosed.

I find it totally confusing how they decide what category something should go on. I don't have any interests which might explain why I don't get many responses to my discussions. But some that I have seen have so many interests that I would not be able to follow all of them. I have seen some come up with one type of interest and something that is almost the same come up with another different interest. With regard to the health ones, like ossie says maybe they should be separated out a bit. But somewhere they have to draw the line I guess or people would have everything in a different pocket. It would help if the interests were in some sort of order or sub-section. That could be health (adhd), health (depression) and so on and that would make sense to most people.

Yes well I agree with you that mylot does do this I do not know why and also you do really have to watch some other topics as well as they are repeating similar topics which should be under the one name here. I do think that mylot should go through and check these words,.

Lots of topics come up with variuations like that. I ignore it. It's the way the script has been written, to identify different topics.

I have come across this too, only that the spelling was wrong when someone added it , so its coming up as a new topic.

I guess people add things without checking to see if they are already there and they are automatically added to the list; some of the interests in health are similar too and I'm sure there are others as well.. I agree that some topics like the jokes can all come under the same heading. Cheers.
