Has anyone ever gotten one and wish that they didn't do it? I got two tattoos when I was about 18. One on my lower back and one on my ankle. I tried to get them in places where they wouldn't show for when I dress professionally. I wish I didn't get either of them Also I found out afterwards that it is a sin to mark our bodies like this. http://www.usccb.org/nab/bible/leviticus/leviticus19.htm (verse 28) Just thought I would point this out for anyone contemplating a tattoo. What are your thoughts and or views on this subject? Do you have one? Did you know it was a sin? Are you contemplating getting one?

I don't have one, but if I would, I couldn't care less what the bible or any other religious book had to say about it. Reason I have never taken one is because it's too permanent, even if it looks cool at first and you would never regret the tattoo you picked as you get old and wrinkly it'll look horrible. Now if you could easily remove them whenever you would please it would be another story, but that simply isn't the case.

I have always thought about getting one but never had the nerve to do it. And also in the back of my mind I have always wondered if it was a sin. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I'm covered in tattoos and, as an atheist, don't believe in any of the writings of the bible therefore I don't believe that I am sinning. It's my body and I'll choose to do with it whatever I please withing the boundaries of the law of course.

I am not an atheist (I'm Pagan) but I dont think tats are a sin either....a sin would imply they are ugly, dirty, evil, wrong, negative etc etc and I personally believe they are just the opposite...I think Tattoos when done for the right reasons and done well, are beautiful works of art...I think they have tremendous depth and soul to them as well...I've only two myself right now but when all is said and done I'll have around 12 or so BUT most of them will be quite large...

I sure didn't know that tatto's were a sin. I don't have any on my body but my husband had one on his arm. It is a chain link with two feathers coming down from it. I had never heard that it was a sin. I personally don't want any tattoos on my body but he wanted to get some more of them a while back and changed his mind. I am glad of that especially if it is sinning in the Bible.

I don't have any tatoo for myself. I don't think it's a sin, it's only people's interest. Everyone has rights to make a tatoo. However, I prefer not to have any tatoo. As one day when you get tired of it, it's not easy to remove it. Why not use some short-time lasting tatoo for fun? You can just have it for a few days and then it'll be gone. I think it's better.

I never heard that tatoos are sin. In rural India many women having tatoos. In most cases they have tatoos of their name. husband's name or God or Godess picture. There is no harm in getting tatooed in the body. Personally I do not like tatoos. I have seen in TV somebody getting tatooed all over the body.

Wow, that is an interesting fact. I did not know that tattoos are a sin to our body. I have always considered tattoo as an art. It is a form of expression to have tattoos on our bodies. I personally don't have one, but I would not mind having a tattoo in the future.

I am sure someone has posted this, but I don't have time to look through all the responses. If you only believe in the old testiment, a tatoo is a sin, but we are under the new covenant, which wipes out lot of those rules. Otherwise, we women couldn't wear pants:) Also, I have a tatoo, where no one can see it. I like it that way.

in my opinion,it depends.when i saw somebody around me had gotten some tattoos on his/her body,my first reaction is to think that he/she might not be a good people, maybe they are hoodlerm, and they are very ridiculous.maybe my opinion is a bit narrow.hehe but when i watch the sports news from TV,i saw some sport stars also have gotten some tattoos one their boddies.at that time ,i thought they were very cool and they have cool personalities.i don`t know why i have this bias.maybe what i said are not right, just my own opinion.

I have heard that before, that it is a sin. I even mentioned it to my ex when she got one. I myself do not think tattoos are anything that great. As for it being a sin, it's all in how you look at it. That is one thing I hate about the bible and organized religion. People can read the exact same thing and see different meanings in it, or choose to ignore it all together.

I don't have any tattoos, and really have no desire to get one. As for the Levitical law, the Isrealites lived under a lot of mandates and if you read it carefully, a lot of their laws were to keep them healthy. At that time, their were probably no sanitary measures to keep them from infections from tattoos, not to say it isn't a sin. I believe personally that it is wrong to mark up our bodies, but I also believe that God worries more about what's in a person's heart than what is on the ouside of their bodies. I don't think God will judge a person based on if they have a tattoo or not, but on how they stand spiritually.

I have tattoo's... Started when I was sixteen. I'm agnostic, so the bible really isn't a part of my life. I was raised Christian and I have certainly heard my fair share of how my body modifications are sins, but I could care less. Don't get me wrong, I believe that the bible makes some good points, but who could actually abide by it? Seriously, some of that is just ridiculous... There's no way in today's society someone can live without commiting at least one sin that is pointed out in the bible. Once again, I am NOT christian and I don't believe in the bible. But, if I did... Which I once did... I believe the bible to be guidelines not rules. One cannot live by something that was written hundreds of years ago.

I have 3 tattoos one on my back upper Right shoulder and on my lower back. I also have one near my groin area but after 3 kids that one is so indistinguishable (I regret that one). I have to say I do not regret the other two and my husband now has 4 (he did not have any before he met me). My Brother is a tattoo artist so he designs really good ones for our family.
