I heard about this on the radio just the other night. Sacremento has passes an ordinance banning screaming on a Roller Coaster known as The Screamer. Click to read a small blurb about it. Can someone actually ride a roller coaster and NOT scream? Is that not part of the whole thrill of a roller coaster? Whats next for the amusement park, No babies allowed to cry at the sight of a costumed person in the park? Give me a breask. All because neighbors complained? Move away I say. You don't like screaming kids why live so close to an amusement park. http://www.netscape.com/viewstory/2007/04/06/riders-banned-from-screaming-on-a-ride-in-ca-amusement-park/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wayodd.com%2Friders-banned-from-screaming-on-a-ride-in-ca-amusement-park%2Fv%2F6955%2F&frame=true HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yes Bob the stupidest thing I ever heard of. How are they going to enforce that. Are they going to have the screaming police arrest the screamers when they get off the ride? LOL. This is just like the people who build their homes next to a dairy or a pig farm then complain about the smell, move away from the farm, it was there first. My dad always said "Fools names and Fools faces always show is public places".

They may have people standing around with those gauges that measure the decible levels from noises. Too friggin funny.

I don't know which is more ridiculous - the ban on screaming or the complaints about the hand-raising as "infringing on privacy". This has to be a joke!

That is CRAZY, I am not a fan of roller coaster rides, I am such a chicken, scream like there is no tomorrow, then get a horrible headache and will eventually throw up so I avoid them, but to not be able to scream, sometimes there is no control of that happen, I mean I could not make myself not scream.

thats really ridiculous.... they should never have allowed the construction of an amusement park right next to a housing colony... this way it only creates problems for the park management... how can people be told not to scream when they are on a roller coaster... this is just too stupid... seriously the judge must have thought of something before he passed that ordinance....

First thing I did was look at the date...figuring maybe it was written April 1st, no such luck. I can understand how the people living nearby would feel about the noise, and my guess is that they were living there long before the rides went up. I would think that the park could put up some noise/ visual barriers so that people could scream. Did they have to rename the coaster...to the 'Hush' or the 'Sh-h-h-h'. The name scream does not seem right if they can't.

Even if built after neighbors lived there I'm sure there was some city residents vote on authorization. If the didnt turn it down then that's part of life. Should have moved before it was done being built then.Just like taxes Id say. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yes Grandpa Bob, I herd the same thing on the news, no more screaming on the ride. People are really getting carried away now. Why don't they just pass out a roll of duct tape with the tickets - to put over all the kids mouths.

OMG I cannot believe that. It's assinine behavior on the people in the community. We have an amusement park not far from us in Tampa. You drive by it and you don't hear the screams for the rollercoasters. The neighbors should either move or put up trees to block the sight and sound. Either way though they are the ones with the problem not the other way around. That's like moving into a house right near the airport and then asking them not to let planes take off or land. Makes a lot of sense to me.

20 years ago I would have taken the roller coaster (the old-fashioned kind- LOL), Todays coasters scare me with the speeds, sharper turns, upside down parts and loops! I rather take the more mellow carousel, thank you!:-)

If they don't want people screaming then they shouldn't make a scary ride like"the screamer"

OMG! Is that for real? i mean, i know it is, but i just find it assanine! What do you epect at an amusement park? If you don't like children and don't like to hear people screaming or lauging and having fun then you need to effing move.

Well I would never be able to ride it then. A roller coaster in which you can not scream thats insane! If I am on a roller coaster I would not care about the rules at the time I will be screaming my head off, lol, I always do on a roller coaster. :)

That is the silliest thing I have ever heard of! What in the name of wide world of sports is going on there? How can you not scream on a roller coaster? That is just ludicrous! If you live within hearing distance of the amusement park, move if it is causing you so much discomfort! My parents live very close to an amusement park and on the weekends you can walk outside of the house and hear people screaming from the coasters, but they never complain, because they chose to live there! It does have it's benefits, because when they have fireworks displays we can sit in their yard and see them clearly! LOL

Is this a joke?maybe I'm not so young but still I love Roller Coaster or whatever else a Louna park can have.At the most of them the screaming is the fun.If they don't allow the scream what is the point of going there. If the park didn't close after these at still continue people visit it without the *no screaming* stop them ...what can I say!

Hell, how ridiculous.. no screaming on a roller coaster. I went once on a roller coaster when I was 9. I screamed the whole time. I have never been one since. My daughter, however, loves the high thrill scarey rides.

Oh, please! I definitely will scream on that ride if I ever go there, and come on! The ride is called "The Screamer", how can you not scream? I believe the company, not the riders, will be responsible if there are screams. They can't just say anything to the people. Therefore, I think the park needs to get something done so the noise is lowered for the neighbors, or these complainers can just move. How can you go to a park without screaming and having fun? Makes no sense to me. You are right with your opinion, let see what others have to say Pablo

I guess it would have a throne of honor in the 'Dumb Law' portion in the internet. LOL! I fully agree with you Grandpa Bob. One may get heart attack trying to suppress their scream while on the roller coaster. What were they thinking? Haller?!
