Luke 1:1-5 Amplified Bible (I love this version! "closely compared to the original Greek") Luke the physician wrote: "[1] - Since [as is well known] many have undertaken to put in order and draw up a [thorough] narrative of the surely established deeds which have been accomplished and fulfilled in and among us, [2] - as they were handed down to us by those who from the official] beginning [of Jesus' ministry] were eyewitnesses and ministers of the Word [that is, of the doctrine concerning the attainment through Christ of salvation in the kingdom of God], [3] - It seemed good and desirable to me, [and so I have determined] also after having searched out diligently and followed all things closely and traced accurately the course from the highest to the minutest detail from the very first, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, [4] - [My purpose is] that you may know the full truth and understand with certainty and security against error the accounts (histories) and doctrines of the faith of which you have been informed and in which you have been orally instructed. [5] - In the days when Herod was king of Judea there was a certain priest whose name was Zachariah, of the daily service (the division) of Abia; and his wife was also a descendant of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth..."

So, Luke wrote the Gospel, after collecting all the stories of Jesus (the reliable ones) and he wrote them down in an orderly fashion. He did so, so that we many have assurace of the truth. This is really consoling, because many others are also in persuit of truths. Some are even digging for the Truth. This text is really consoling especially after publication of Da Vinci Code.

I like how he also wrote about after the resurrection - "we saw him and felt him with our own hands and he was flesh and bone".. :)

This is nice to be reminded of spiritual things, plus of world history, sometimes this techno age can be very draining and at the moment I wish I could be closer to nature than just stuck at home lol. But what can we do eh? The situation is like this that we have to struggle and work hard lol..Thank you for bringing us back into focus, we need nudging sometimes..

We all like to be closer to the nature. In fact I can never go far nature. I can live in the busiest city in the world, and be closest to the nature at the same time. Conversely, I could be at the loneliest corner of the globe and still feel stuck ! We are always deeply rooted in nature, wherever we are.

I don't think Luke ever saw Jesus, but he did interview many who were close to him. Wouldn't that have been something, to talk to Mary, James, John, Peter and to journey with Paul? I'm so glad Luke decided to do that and write it all down. He left us a treasure, didn't he?
