How many books do you think you can read in a year?

I can read at least 75 books. I don't have much time on my hands anymore to read, and I'm a fairly slow reader. It's still a pretty good number, though. How many books do you think you can read in a year.

Hi, I can read a book a night if the topic is great. I read a wide range of topics, as I believe knowledge is power. On other nights it can drag over nights. Depends on whether the book stirs something within you, to make you search for the answer, or delve into that world. Isn't that the fun of reading - you can just about read anywhere without any devices like the computer

You're preaching to the choir! That's why I think books will never be replaced by electronic readers. No special equipment needed. I love to read, and I'm finding that the more I read, the more I want to read, and on and on. I work for a company that allows me to purchase up to 4 books per day at 50 cents each, and I've been able to purchase books on just about any subject I've been curious about. Before this job, I couldn't afford to do it. I can't wait to go home and read, because I can't wait to get to the next book. I agree that knowledge is power.

wow! that's a lot. i consider myself to be a fast reader but i haven't read that much in a year. i spend most of my time at the office and my rest day is only on sundays wherein i still have to devote to doing household chores. there is also the cost of the books i have to consider, they don't come cheap and i'm keeping a close tab on my savings. so i cannot really read as much as i want to:P still, i make do with the little time (and money) i could spare with my reading. i get to read about 3 novels a month, so that's about 36 a year! LOL!

Yeah, books aren't cheap. 36 novels a year isn't that bad.

I read a lot, so I can't really say how many books I can read every year. I love reading, and I try to get my hands on a lot of books as possible. At most, I can finish a thick book within a day, so the number of books that I can read depends on the number of books available to me.

How many books could I read in a year? That is a good question. Books are quite expensive nowadays, but if I checked them out of the library or received them as gifts and didn't have to pay for them, I could read more than 100 books in a year...but I don't have the time to read 100 books in a year. With 365 and sometimes 366 days in a year, I could do 100. I usually need 2-3 days to read a book. Sometimes, if a book is interesting, I can read it in two hours or less, depending on my reading speed at that particular moment in time and my engagement in the subject material. If a book is short (ie. children's novels, picture books) I could get more in there, but I don't read very long novels, so 100 is probably a safe estimate for the answer to your question. Thanks for such an interesting and thought-provoking topic, helium.

I have learned to speed read somewhat and I LOVE reading so that helps. I could probably finish a novel in a night if i read continuously. So.. 365 novels a year..? lol BUT i don't think i would want to read that much and i probably wouldn't be absorbing most of it. I just a few books from the library. They are due tomorrow and i haven't even finished reading one of them. I guess no time. I used to read about 3 or 4 books a week though.

Well, if I got into reading again I think I would read 52. One a week. I mean, I like to do other things too.

Since elementary school I have been keeping track of every book I read. I also have a year-end so that I can count how many I have read in a year (I also keep track by favourite authors as well - too organized, eh?) Anyway, the most I have read in one year is 55. That was back when I was commuting to work by bus. I had lots of reading time on the bus and read many books. But since having children and focussing more on my writing, I have read as few as 7 books in one year. 1996-97 was the only year I read a quantity of books of only one digit. I should update my print-out (I have it all on disk). The last year I have in print is 2004/05. I'd have to check the document to see but I am averaging about 20 books a year at this point.

I would also say about 70. I read about six to seven books a month so that's what makes me say that. I dont think im a fast reader, its actually difficult for me to consentrate. Yet, I like fiction novels so I push myself, when the motivation may not be at its best.

I really don't count what I read in a given year; Interesting though. And I won't bother to start either. But I estimate it's between 250-300 a year. I can't guess; I am compiling a list of books I've read this year so far of best of lists.

It depends on how interested I am in the book and how much free time I have, but on average one book every week and a half.

I used to read a book per week when I was reading for pleasure, but now that school and work has consumed most of my reading time it's more than that when all the material is added up. I was taught that every good writer reads more than they write, so I read A LOT. I love reading things "for fun," but that doesn't happen as often as I would like.
