Why do you think anyone would do this.. and on Memorial Day or Memorial Day weekend? Is it true all war is unjustified, so anyone going to war is 'wrong' or do you think sometimes war is not always unavoidable?

Saddam didn't claim to have weapons of mass destruction. He did in the 90's, but many believe he was misslead by his men, because they were too fearful to tell him otherwise, and so his weapon's capabilities were exaggerated. However, in the 90's UK and US forces went into Iraq and destroyed the WMD. Then in 2003 the Bush Administration claimed to have inteligence that proved Saddam had WMD and weapons making capabilites. Saddam said that this wasn't true and allowed UN inspectors into Iraq. The inspectors found nothing. The Bush administration threatened to bomb Iraq, but the UN suggested strongly against it and said it would be illegal. Bush's administration took America and the US to war there anyway. They found no weapons or anything and still havn't found any. That's why so many people think the war is illegal and all the stuff about WMD was a big exaggeration made by the Bush Administration who just wanted to go into Iraq to bring about regime change.

4ftfingers: We also had a ceasefire agreement with Iraq that Hussein continuously broke. Isn't it the responsibility of the parties involved in a ceasefire agreement, so enfore the terms of that agreement?

I think Saddam did have weapons of mass destruction. What about the mobile biological lab that they captured and the high background radiation in that underground bunker? Saddam probably managed to get most of the actual weapons across the border into Syria and destroyed the rest. After all, it's not like he didn't have any warning that we were coming.

These disgusting fools care more about perverting Memorial Day than anything else. Their statement only shows that they are whiny losers who are too spoiled to appreciate what anyone has done for them. Memorial day is not about protesters or anyone's personal politics... it is about those who gave their lives in war... period. Anyone who would use this day for their own political agenda is disgusting and should be treated as pariah by everyone else.

This is terrible. To desecrate the graves of anyone is so wrong. War is sometimes unavoidable,it seems, but no matter what the cause of war the soldier does not choose to go to war. He chooses to do his duty, and all should support the troops even if they can not support the war.

This is such sad behavior and the unfortunate thing is that the kind of attitudes that lead to this act are so commonplace. It really has me worried about what is going to become of our country. I do think that war is sometimes unavoidable, though I still haven't been able to make up my mine on whether we should have invaded Iraq. Still I do think that since we are there we need to not only finish the job but do a good job of setting up the new government there.
