Need Help!

This is really more one for the girls, but guys are more than welcome to chip in with their two cents if they so desire lol. I've been looking at Wedding Dresses for my Wedding next year. There are SO many different styles and colors. I've managed to whittle the list down to three dresses. I edited the three photos in photoshop, leaving the color of the dresses intact and turning the rest black and white. I need help! I cannot decide between the three dresses I chose! I uploaded two of them to my profile pictures (Grrr at only being able to add one photo to a discussion!!) I'll upload the other one here. However, I would much appreciate it if you'd take a look at the three pictures and tell me which dress you like best. All comments are gratefully received! Help me!!

I like the pink one best. It is simple and elegant.

Thank you very much for your opinion. I too like the elegance of the pink one. I'm kinda fair skinned too, and pink always brings out the warmth of my skin tone.

I personally like the one that you added to the question - I don't care for the strapless ones-- my friend had a strapless and she hated it- she felt like she was gonna fall out all night while dancing. The only thing I don't like about the one i chose is the train- although it looks so beautiful- what a pain they are at the reception to bustle them and it makes you gown heavy. If I could do it all over again I would have chose a dress that was not traditional, in the fact that I looked like a giant bell, I would have chosen something more in the chiffon family - with flowing arms and a hankerchief bottom (however I planned my wedding in 4 months- my dad had just passed away and my father in law was not doing well- so we planned quickly so we wouldn't lose another dad before hand)- I would have been a lot more comfortable. I realize that brides want to look like a princess for the most part- but you need to think of comfort- remember you will be spending at least 12 hours in that thing.

I don't mind the strapless ones. These days, many of them have a strap around the middle that fastens in the front for security issues - VERY handy for those top heavy brides LOL. And more often than not, these gowns do come with detachable shoulder straps too. The one with the off the shoulder shoulder straps is nice too, I really like that, but from what I can make out, I don't know how the train would fasten up because of the trim around the edges. To be honest, wearing either of the three wouldn't be much of an issue, we're marrying on a boat and going on a 4 hour cruise for the reception with our guests, so the wedding and reception will only be 6 hours in total.

You are forgetting you need to dress early for pictures and then getting back to your hotel and/or house afterwards. my wedding was at 2:00- I was dressed by 10:30 pictures started at 11:30 we left for the church at 1:45- wedding was done by 3:00 more pictures in church then to the park for yet more pictures then to the reception for 5 hrs then to the hotel by 11:30 ....total 13 hours in uncomfortable dress. also leave some room for stretching in the dress-I was about to get my period (came- 6 days after the wedding) but i was bloated so everything was tight. Nice to know that strapless comes with security measures now (especially for us top heavy brides)...lol. Trains are preety for the church but a pain at the reception.... unless you know someone who knows how to bustle the train- go for a small train. whatever you wear you will look beautiful- you will be glowing- and smiling and every so happy...Good Luck and best wishes

I have no opinion on a choice as I feel that's it's the future brides decision in the end. But do as I do. As a person responds add the other photos. You don't get paid for the photos on your profile. Hee hee. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

LOL! Thanks Bob, I wasn't actually aware that we could add more than one photo to a discussion of our own LOL. I know we can add photos to responses, but I didn't know we could do it in a response to our own discussion if you get what I mean. At least if I have any questions in future, I'll know to come ask you :P

It depends on your choice. If you wanna look romantic then its pink one, if you wanna look s.xy its red. Now you decide how you want to be present in the special day to your very special one.

Thats the problem LOL. I want to look romantic AND sexy! Is that possible? A friend asked me how I wanted to look, so I said well, I want to look hot enough to stun my partner, but not stun him so much that he'll forget his vows LOL.

I think you can go for a shiny rose coloured grown. It is very appealing and romantic too.

My favourite is easily the one you've included on this post - gorgeous! The other two are ok (well I'm not keen on the pink one because I think the colour is a bit wishy-washy) but I think the one above is much more flattering and elegant and red is my favourite colour so I'm naturally predisposed towards it! Of course a lot depends on what suits you. Personally I'm not keen on strapless dresses and I think they're tough to carry off - you need the right sized boobs and shoulders to wear them well. Not too big but not too small either lol! Also red can be a difficult colour to wear - you really need to get the right colour for your skintone but I'm assuming you do have the right colouring anyway and that's why it's short-listed. I'd go for the red one on this post and remember to post your wedding photos on here to show us all how fabulous you looked on the big day!

Thanks for your opinion stiletto. I do like all of them lol, and they each have something that the other doesn't. The pink is a shell kind of pink and so it can look a little wishy washy, but put it on someone like me, and it changes. It brings out the warmth of my skin tone and the dress then looks much better too. The reds I LOVE. There's something about red against pale skin that looks so classy, and I love the details on both of them. I just can't make my mind up! I'm personally a fan of strapless dresses lol. Without sounding smug or anything, I think my boobs are just the right size for a strapless dress :P

LOL, thanks Ravenlady. The whole black thing wouldn't have anything to do with your name here huh? :P I like the red and of course, my partner is hoping I pick red so he doesn't have to wear a matching pink LOL.

It is hard since I do not know how you would look in them. Haircolor, skintone and so on. However I did like the pink one best and with that said I also have to add that pink is really ot my fave color. but I think that it had the best cut =) I would prefer it in another color though =)

Lol, let me help you. I have very fair skin that burns easily, I'm small (5ft 2inch), and my hair is mousy, though I am having it dyed a deep deep red :o) Strangely enough though, the red of my hair would actually go with the pink dress as well as the reds.

I think they are all very beautiful. I could not wear red and would have to choose a different color, but if it looks good on you then it is fine for you! I like the one here for the neckline. I just love it! I don't know about the trim on the bottom though. I love the one on the stairs. The detail on the bottom looks lovely and I think if I had lost weight and could wear a strapless I would probably choose it. I seem to think that you favor the pink from your comments. I do love it too. I just had a prom dress like it. But I guess if I choose that style for my prom dress, minus the train/bustle then I guess I made my choice!

I do favor the pink just because of the warmth it brings out of my skin tone, but I'm not sure whether I want to do that, or go for a more striking contrast between my fair skin and the deep red of one of those red ones lol. I too am a little unsure about the trim on the bottom of the dress attached to this discussion, but it does look wonderful. I'm also leaning more towards the other red one on the steps. I love the train on that and it has to be easier to fasten up than the other one lol.

the more you say, the more I'm yelling RED RED RED! paler skin with red is just so striking and beautiful

i like all 3 of them. but a wedding is something special so i would suggest: if you want to look romantic AND sexy then its the red one on your profile page with the roses. i love this discussion, it suggests we are invited for the wedding lol. i hope you find the right one for you and do post it here

Thank you Marlyse. I have a lot of friends here and so to me, your opinions all count for something lol. When I find the right dress, I will definitely post it here lol. I may even get a friend to take photos of me trying it on :P I am leaning towards one of the reds I think. Mom has been a little mean about the reds but I do really like them. The question now, is which one? lol.

I think they all look like great dresses, but of the three I think I like the red dress you put in the disscussion. To me that one just looks a bit classier than the rest. Good luck and take care, Terry

Thanks for your opinion. I'm surprised at the number of people who like that one to be honest. I had quite a few people tell me they not sure about the trim at the hem of it. I showed it to my mom yesterday and she said I'll look like a female Santa if I wore it *sigh* Some people are just SO old fashioned LOL.

I rated the first two photos I have to respond to this email before I can see which dress out of the three I like the best. I see with the other two dresses you like off the shoulder. Are you going to wear white? I think it would depend upon what color you are going with. I would like to see the dresses on you and in the color you are thinking on. The color can make a big difference. Have you tired these dresses on? How confortable are you in them, can you sit down in them. I once bought a beautiful skirt and blouse set. When I sat down the blouse looked horrible on me, also dresses fit everyone differently they may look great on the model and horrible on me. I will respond after looking at the other photo.

I'm actually planning on going with Red or Pink for the big day. I can't wear white because I'm pretty fair skinned and white makes me look horribly washed out. Pink brings out the warmth of my skin tone (what little there is of it LOL) and Red looks great against my pale skin, so I like both those colors, and I am going the more nontraditional route anyway. The whole sitting down thing is a good point to make and it's something I hadn't thought about so much. Ack - decisions decisions!!

Of the three dresses, my choice would be the strapless red one. I don't know what other colors are available...I like the elegant, simplicity of it. I'm sure, with your "recent downsizing" anything will look fabulous!!!
• Canada
13 Jun 07
Lol @ recent downsizing. I still have a way to go with that yet - I think! The bathroom scales are on this weekends agenda! *Gulp* I do like the strapless dresses as opposed to the ones with straps. Sometimes straps can make you feel restricted, especially if they're tight. I'm planning on going with the color of whichever dress I end up picking. So either Red or Pink lol. Both of them do wonders for my pale skin.

Thank you for your opinion. I like all of the dresses LOL. Right now I'm torn, and I hate feeling like that. Each dress has something special about it that the others don't, and trying to choose between them is a nightmare.

I like the red ones, especially the one on the steps. I'm not sure about the trim on the other red one. red us a beautiful colour, that really does something wonderful to most skin tones. it's elegant, sophisticated and dramatic. I would like to marry in red.

Thanks Galena. It's funny you mention about the trim on the red dress, because I've been looking at that and wondering how in the hell I'm supposed to fasten that up into a bustle! So, I may have just whittled down the choice to the final two LOL. Thanks for your input :o)

The pink one IS nice, but the others for me also have something about them that the others don't have. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly about each of them, but they all hold great appeal for me lol. They say that making decisions for a Wedding is hard, but they didn't tell me that something as simple as choosing a dress would be so hard. I say thank god we have a Wedding Planner - otherwise I'd be going spare!
