This morning as ususal the wife and I walked outside eyeballing our gradens flowers and fruits. We didn't notice this Lily as it was just a bud not opened. We then went back in having a cup of coffee. 15 minutes later I took this photo. It opened up fully in that short of time. This is NOT an Asiatic Lily. This I believe is from the Star Lily family. As you can tell the petals form a type of star looking formation hence the Star name. I love the brilliance of this reddish orange color. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That's very pretty. We didn't plant any flowers or a garden of any kind this year. This is nice being able to see how yours is doing. With the prices of food, I'm going to wish I'd planted some tomatos and vegetables this year.

Thank you. Speaking of vegetables, I started a discussion about my "green" peppers growing. Found out it's actually an elongated yellow pepper of some sort. Hahaha!! Going to take a new photo and add it to that discussion after it stops raining today too. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Beautiful, webeishere! Lilies (of all types) are among my favorite flowers. I have Stella d'Oro daylilies in a few places on my property but I don't currently have the type of lilies that are in your picture. They are on my wish list for sure because they're just so stunning! Thanks--I enjoyed your photo! :) Have a lovely day!

The flower is indeed very beautiful Grandpa Bob and color is so vivid and you also captured it well in your camera. Kudos for having a beautiful garden and see those you have planted and nurtured by your own hand bloom and come to life!

One thing I can say with lilies is they bloom in the blink of an eye. LOL My nacked ladies bloomed in a matter of hours this spring. I do not have room for any lilies unless I take out some of the other bushes and plants I have. It sounds like a lot of work in this california heat. LOL

Lilies - Use mulch for mopisture retention is all
Not really at all. Lilies love heat sun and humidity. Look at this picture. You can see the red mulch added. It helps to retain the moisture in the soil. So a couple inches of mulch and water is all thats needed to survive in California. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That is so beautiful! And how amazing that it opened that much in so few minutes. It is definitely a very bright shade of red. I love it. wow! that's a really pretty lily! Sometimes, during the weather here in malaysia, you can't even get a decent flower blooming in the garden. It's terribly humid one minute and the next thing you know, there's a thunderstorm brewing. So most of the flowers in my mom's garden aren't blooming.. Anyways, thanks for sharing your garden with us!

Beautiful - Another view of this BRIGHT colored Lily of mine.
Well here in Minnesota USA we do get the humid days also. But plants thrive on it here as long as they get enough water. Here's another shot of the same Lily. I love my Lilies. Hahahaha!! Thanks for responding also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~
