I have never been with a man who did not know how to cook. Sure, I can cook - it doesn't mean I plan to cook dinner every night. Cooking together is fun, and when both parties cook both woman and man get the occasional night off to be pampered by the other one making the dinner. As a woman today I work and go to school just as much as any man I am with, so I sure want chores at home to be shared as well. If I ended up having kids and became a stay at home mom, I would be more willing to do all of the cooking and so on. I guess my question would be - why wouldn't a man know how to cook?

I wouldn't say that your wife is very lucky if you only intend to cook when she is ill. you should both cook. she doesn't have to be ill to enjoy a nice meal you cook for her. if you share the cooking then you will both be happier.

I have been trying to teach my boys to cook certain dishes. I think that it is wonderful for the man to make dinner. Yes...your wife is going to be very lucky:)

Right now, I work full time, and my fiance is home all day (he starts school in a few weeks, and has not found a part time job yet). Recently, he has been cooking dinner at least a few nights out of the week. There are some meals that we like to eat that he doesn't know how to cook, but he's learning how to cook a lot of the meals that we eat regularly. We cook a lot of things that come in packages that have directions on the package, so he just has to follow directions and we can have a good meal! It's definitely a big help to me, because I am out of the house almost 10 hours a day, so it's nice to come home and dinner is already cooking!

I think everyone, man or woman should be able to prepare at least 10 different meals by the time they start living on their own (whether that's at college or with a girlfriend or whatever). That way, when they get together they each have something they can bring to the table... because, unless one really enjoys cooking and the other doesn't, it should be a shared task. Not some chore that falls squarely on the wifes shoulders.

I do not see anything wrong with a guy knowing a little bit of cooking, it helps alot when he cooks for his woman on their anniversary or something. I find that very romantic.

I think it would be terribly sweet if a man can cook something up for me. Nowadays, I've seen a lot of men who can magically prepared a delicious meals. It will also be to the men's advantage to learn how to cook. Even simple dishes will do. This way, you will be able to help your partner in the future and never depend on anyone to cook for you.

I think men should learn how to cook. At least a few things that they like to eat anyway. Even my hubby can cook, though he rarely does now, unless it's on the barbeque pit, lol. He did cook shrimp much better than I did when we got married but he's taught me his method now. ;)
