United States
June 20, 2007 2:31pm CST
I want to show off my new kitchen floor that my husband did. We just got done redoing our entire kitchen and it turned out great. I'm attaching a picture of the floor. We did ceramic tile and in the center of the floor we put a design on an angle.

I use the Swiffer Wet Jet during the week for quick clean ups. Then just a regular sponge mop with a tiny bit of detergent in the bucket of warm water. My kitchen floor isn't very big so it doesn't take me long to clean it.

You took on all those projects? I would say you are spening too much time watching hgtv. but seriously you have done a lovely job on the back splash and this floor. You have taken on a lot to be doing all this renovation at once. How brave you are to have to live with the mess untell it is all done. But It is always satifying when you finally get done. Now are you have a party to celebrate the finshed kitchen.

That's hard. Doing dishes in the bath tub. That part would really suck. But it was woth it in the end right?

We have a big family get-together planned for mid July! My hubby is in the process of building a big deck in the backyard LOL. It was alot to take on at one time. The kitchen was the hardest project. We were without a kitchen for 2 months! I mean not even a sink! Dishes were washed in the bathtub! LOL

It looks very good. I am not very handly with stuff like this. I am sorry to say that I have to pay someone else to do good work. I would make this look like a total mess. My husband is not real handy in the home fix up department either. I am very good at the mess up department though. I think you are pretty good when you can do this kind of work yourself and think of all the money you saved by doing so. I like it.

Yes it's amazing how much more something cost when you have to hire someone to do it.

Thank you!! Our goal was to do something that was totally different than any other floor we've ever had. We spent hours looking for tile till we found exactly what we wanted.

Looks great- Isn’t it wonderful when you can do these types of remodeling by yourself- and don’t have to hire it out- Saves a bunch of money on labor- Nice job- We are going to change our kitchen floor also- after we rip out the cupboards- I am thinking ceramic tile also-

It looks really nice. My husband is very handy like that too,but it is hard to get him to do things around here. I would like to redo our kitchen but I don't think there is room to make it bigger and that is what I would choose to do.

DaycarePal, That is a nice picture. Surprisingly, we did a similar job on our floor from the kitchen to the bathroom; It really gives the house a nice refreshing look. No pics, but I understand how you feel on the remodeling; We want to put in some more cabinets then really show it off. Thanks for sharing.

Hi friend, nice doings. I short you both are saving labour charges and through that avoiding costly tiles. But i am thinking about your husband's skills. How had he done it! I think he also creating some other fun also. You are lucky dear to get such a husband. Encourage him to do more works. That can save you both a lot. Mainly labour charges and costly designed stones. Creative mind is good. Said he to keep it up... Best wishes to both you.. Thank you..... See you dear.....

Your kitchen floor done by your husband is fantastic. Is he a professional or is it his hobby? It is nice to have a husband like that.

Oh no this is not his profession. He just likes nice things and I'm to cheap to hire professionals LOL. Although we did hire a licensed plumber to put in the new corner sink and dishwasher lines. And we had a licensed electrician more electrical stuff for us. There are some things like that where he feels better hiring a professional.

Just keep thinking how nice your bathroom will look once it's finished. What we do to keep us motivated, is to take pictures every step of the way. We do a "before" picture and then more pictures as we do the work. We have it all in a book that we can look through and see how much things have changed.

He can come and do mine. I have white tile, it is pretty but you see every little bit of dirt and dust. I also would like new carpet it is light gray yuck. While he is at it he can pay for it. LOL Looks great

LOL he's gotta finish paying for mine first! We use to have a white ceramic tile in our kitchen. It was real pretty with maroon and light green swirls on it. But I hated to keep it clean. It always showed dirt.

Nope it wasn't hard to do. It's actually the 2nd time we've redone our kitchen floor since we bought the house 10 years ago. We also added ceramic tile to the front foyer entrance, which is very small. I like ceramice tile, I think it gives the room a nice clean look.
