Up down left right. Click clock pong. Left down center back down up. Lu la loh. Well those didn't make sense to you, did they? They are not supposed to. Even I who wrote them don't know what they mean. Got you there lol. :P But wait, I wrote them for a purpose. They are an "illustration" of repetitive things. From time to time, we need to busy ourselves with repetitive tasks. At home, it might be housework. In the office, it might be filing documents. Or if you do freelance work, it might be data entry. The common thread of them all is that they are repetitive tasks. I know that to some people, they are soothing, relaxing and enjoyable to deal with. Yet the same tasks when handled by others may be considered dull, boring and tedious. Unless I am in a hurry, I actually quite enjoy repetitive things lol. What about you? Do you enjoy repetitive tasks? Or do you hate them with all your guts? Do share your thoughts. ;-)

I like repetitive tasks, if I do not have something else pressing to do. Folding laundry is good, so is crochet. Rocking in a rocker is a repetitive thing that I enjoy, or swinging the porch swing. I like the rhythm of things, I guess.

I feel repetitive tasks can help us "escape" somewhere and reach a meditative sort of state.;-)

Boring but necessary! Sigh. Too bad most tasks and jobs are actually repetitive actions, and the ones that aren't are either dangerous or extremely hectic. If you check out your Myers-Briggs Personality Type you're probably a ---J. http://similarminds.com

Wah cheem sia. But I do agree it's a little silly to categorize the world's 6 billion (and fast rising) people with all their complexities into 16 this-or-that categories.

I think whether I like it or not, it never matters as I am a house wife so I am often dong repetitive work. Daily dusting cleaning cooking or taking care of my kids. I thin our whjole lives are spent doing these things. My lot is my great escape. but how does it matter and I can not even afford to hate doing this stuff with all my guts even if I want to.

Nope- not big on repetition for long periods of time- I love my job because I do all kinds of things- Accountant- and I’m always thinking- I hate doing the same old thing over and over- I don’t consider housework to be repetitive- I jump from room to room – activity to activity- It keeps it interesting- Sure it is repetitive of the prior day but not all in one day- I once worked in a sewing factory (Champion) where I did one type of job- It stunk- worse summer of my life! Same old thing!

Nope..never...I cannot focus if I do one job several times in a day...but I prefer jobs that requires attention to details...I think that is a good training to become an artist or something else...like an analyst or it security specialist but do not knoew those things I am not reaaly into repititive jobs ... it just sucks and dull and boring...perhaps but a lot seem to enjoy doing those kinds of job so I am not compatible with them.

I think it depends on the task. Do I like cleaning the bathroom 18 times a day? NO way. Do I like making money by doing repetative things on the Internet..yes. Do I like paying the same bills over and over...not much. Do I like driving in the country and seeing the same sights over and over? Yes, need to do it more often...lol. Some things I would rather do for the last time, and others I could do over and over with little problems.

Sometimesi like to do repetitive things and sometimes i don't. It all depend on the task at hand as well as how i am feeling at the moment. THereare some things i can do over and over again and otherthings i just can't.And everything has to end on either a 0 or a 5 OR sometimes it can be an odd number. But not an even one.

Actually, there are few repetative works that really HuMan like to do like eating, cashing money and so on.. There is problem in HuMan nature like they never want to accept responsibility or duty for forever. Let us take example.. it is nice feelings for most of the men to watch Night or enjoy like mine are writting this post & it 5.03pm here.. birds are speaking seetly, crows are busy to discover their food on the way or others.. Infact, we are free or we feel interest to keep awake myself in night. But think for one who are reponsible or bound to keep wake whole night like a Night Gird what's for them it is really annonying for them... Infact, HuMan beings are never satisfied about their situation.. I seems others happy from mine.. actually we need to feel we all are happy.

I don't really care for repetitive things. I like new and exciting. Which is one reason i like my job. While there are things that are repetitive, most of the time I get new and exciting calls. No 911 call is ever the same. They may have a similar situation, but each person deems what their own emergency is. And everyone reacts differently. You can have a lady calling screaming at the top of herlungs as if someone is killing her, and it's just a call about a neighbors loud music. Or you can get a call from someone who calmly and collectively tells you they have just chopped off their own finger. I do enjoy the variety I get here, so it makes it fun for me :)

I actually don't mind doing repetitive tasks. I look for ways to make these things more exciting. I challenge myself to see how fast I can complete them. I try to beat my fastest time. I like doing repetitive jobs because I realize that by knowing what is expected of me I can do the job faster. There are times when I enjoy something different.

I like doing repetitive tasks for the sole fact that they are easy and solely involve much else work. They also let you kinda set a groove to work by and eventually work much faster. If I had my choice, all my work would be repetitive and would require much less thinking on my part :)

I am not too fond of repetitive tasks, I prefer things that are different all the time, but some things are ok I guess. Being repetitive means that we don't even need to be thinking much about it and can let our mind wander at the same time, at least a little bit :)

I don't mind repetitive things. So long as they involve no thought process to them! I worked in a factory that did mailings and magasine inserts... slave labour... but very easy work. Just stood and nattered while yer hands did it without even thinking about it.

it really depends.if it's something i like doing, like quilting where you hand stitch thousands of times to complete it,that's ok. but if it's some kind of repetitive job for somebody else, like assembly work,i'd probably get sick of it after awhile. i guess it'd be the motivation.

Sometimes it is good to be involved in repetitive tasks. Like for example, when you are involved in your hobby. (sorting stamps, scrap booking, planting and gardening.... etc) Other times, repetitive tasks are a real bore. Some examples... paying bills, balancing check books, mopping floor, ironing clothes.... etc In the office, there are always different periods of the day where you can perform better and some time of the day you just cannot get anything done cos you are either tired or having a mental block. These are the times I will always do repetitive tasks like filing reports or making claims or data entry.

ha ha... thanks for the compliment! I try to do my best to manage my time. Doing too much repetitive tasks will numb the brain. While doing too much new stuff will drain the brain. A mixture of both will always be a good balance.

Nope--I hate repetitive things...it bores me out of my mind...the worse is going through those stacks and stacks of papers that have piled up and need to be sorted out to see if the papers are of any importance and which can be trashed out--it seems never ending. And I think it's almost time soon to start going through all the new pile of papers soon--Uh...since you don't seem to mind repetitive things, want to come over and do the sorting out for me? LOL

Ok remember the 16 hour job I was talking about on the other discussion? Well for those 16 hours I drive a tractor over a 1 mile section of road back and forth, around and around. I will get to go to another section of road but it is still the same thing. I also can only drive 6 miles an hour at most.:)
