Extreme Makeover - would you want one?

I love watching this TV programme although I think most of the people are crazy putting themselves through all that stuff! Most of them are not ugly and if they made a bit of effort with their appearance in the first place it would make all the difference! What do you think - would you want one if it was offered and if you would why?

I change the colour of my hair quite frequently (I'm always messing with my hair!) and just doing that can make me feel quite different. That's what I mean by these people making an effort - if someone is unhappy with their appearance there are less extreme things they can do to make a change.

if you have some kind of defect- or your teeth are all rotton, sure thats a fine reason, otherwise, no. we are all unique and made to be that way. ive met some pretty ugly people in my life, and the only ugly thing about them was their personality! most of us look at who you are, not what you look like.

It is shocking the amount of shows encouraging women to have plastic surgery, and I'm glad shows like "how to look good naked" are coming out showing ways to improve your confidence without surgery and extreme diets.
Having surgery always comes with risks and these women could die just for a face lift is the cold hard truth, there are not enough shows about that.

I'd definitely like some help on the house, redoing stuff and whatnot. I highly doubt it'll ever happen for me with their help though.

Heck yes I would do it if it was free! Granted, I wouldn't want to do it on national tv, but it would be tempting. Plastic Surgery these days is so expensive.

yes, i think i would want one. no i really would like to have one.. well i think that all people are beautiful but some of them dont appear like that because their beauty is not enhanced or not developed.. i can understand that since it costs a lot of money to develop one's beauty.. well with all the things you have to but to maintain beautfiul skin, beautiful face and all that.. all the expenses. most people cannot really afford that much.. thats why rich people are always beautiful or they appear beautiful because they can afford it. i cannot afford it thats why i want an extrteme makeover.. i think that it may help me boost up my confidence.

You really don't need one - you have such a lovely face in your picture. Now maybe when you get to my age and things start heading south and all the bad habits you had in your youth (well I still do some of them!) start catching up with you - that's a different story! Thanks for your response.

I would want one definately. Imagine all the stuff I could get done.
I hate it though when I see that programme and girls want to be made to look just like Britney or Christinia or Shania. Like I mean literally ook like their idol. Thats freaky.

Oh I hate that as well. The thing about the American Extreme Makeover is I think all the women seem to come out of it looking sort of the same! They all have big hair and big boobs etc. I would love the thing they do with their teeth though - Da Vinci veneers I think they call them. I always think they look amazing!

I also think that a lot of the people in the show are not ugly but I think most people have things about them they don't like and would like to change given the opportunity. A lot of teh people who go through with it seem to have really low self esteem and the change really does change them not only on the outside but on the inside too. If I was offered the makeover I woudl not want them to touch my face as this is what makes me who I am but a tummy tuck wouldn't go amiss lol

lol - yes a tummy tuck would come in handy for me as well!
I agree with you when you say most on the show aren't ugly. I've often thought that all they really need is to make an effort with their appearance. Get their hair done, put some make up on, revamp their wardrobe, etc. If it was me I think I'd be trying all that before I considered the sort of surgery that most of them go through.
