when my hubby went into hospital to have the triple bypass done he took off his ring and asked me to keep it safe for him ,I put it in my handbag( purse ) and when he was ready to come home I looked for it and it was all squashed I must have sat on it or something , I felt bad about it but ,It was really quite old and the gold had got very thin, ,So after he was home and fit enough I was going to buy him a new one , I was talking to a good friend of mine and she told me about her friend who bought her hubby a ring after a serious operation and she called it his survival ring , I thought that was a brilliant idea , so when he eventually came home ( there were complications , we waited a few weeks and I bought it for him , I told him it was his survival ring He smiled and said it was brilliant and said no more about it ,( he is a man of few words really) I bought a new gadget ( you read about it in my other discussion) it cleans jewelry , last night he asked me if I would give his survival ring a clean , I was so pleased It felt so good that he actually thought of it as that , I just had to share ,xxx

What a wonderful idea wee! I bet he was really chuffed with that even though he didn't say much - that is just him though isn't it - he isn't used to talking much cos he never gets a chance to get a word in - specially if we are together! lol Seriously though I think it is such a wonderful idea - I really like it! xxx

That's such a wonderful gift weemam, and it's so great that you've been together for so many years. I trust your husband's feeling better now, from his bout with the flu. Take care of yourself too.:)

You're welcome, weemam, and I do hope he's feeling well again soon. I know you'll be taking extra good care of him. Just wondering, what's your weather like there this time of year? Our flu season is usually in the winter months, although climate doesn't often have anything to do with this type of thing.

it is supposed to be summer but it has rained for weeks now , sometimes in the evening it brightens up and is nice ,but nothing like summer should be . Our youngest son Ross who I write about all the time had flue a week to 10 days ago and I think my hubby has caught it from him, I am still hopping for summer lol xx

I think what I'll do is print it out and stick it in his wallet so that it's the first thing he sees when he opens it up. LOL No, I haven't gotten a date yet. I'm on a waiting list for a hospital that's approved by my insurance. A girl that was referred just before I was just got called in a couple of weeks ago, so hopefully they will call me soon. I'll let you know.

Wow, weemam. Your husband maybe a man of few words but his action painted a thousand more words added together. You are blessed to have a loving and thoughtful husband. Keep going and I'm sure both of you are happily just being together. "hugz"

First I'm glad that your husband bypass went so well.As you say he is a man of few words.I understand exactly what you mean.My husband also is a man of few words. These of course doesn't mean that they aren't sensitive people just they don't use so many words to express them felling .I suppose you aren't a woman of few words right?
Anyway I think both of us we are lucky and we have good husbands.I hope we survive from all the bad situation that the life can give us and we live with my husband so much happy married years like you and your husband.

Hi Weemam, what a wonderful and thoughtful idea. I love it and it has such meaning as well. I was a ring collector I had at one time over 100, and I would say that 25 of them were gold and precious or semi precious stones in them Over the years I have given them to my daughter and I gave my wedding set to my son. Now I still have a few of them left and would love to have them remade but that is a bit costly, so they sit in my jewelry box.

I have never heard of that before but it sounds like a great idea to have one. As I am married for almost 25 years and my hubby had a gallbladder surgery years ago and I was so worried about him. This is a brilliant idea and thanks for sharing. have a wonderful day.

a survival ring sounds really nice i think, my partner has had an operation and need some more on his ears, and i wear his neckalace while he in hospital. i should look at getting him a survival ring but i dont know if he would wear it.
glad your hubby liked it, makes you feel special when they acknowledge it even in the most littlest way.

you know some gift linked with a particular issue in our life (love life) could mean a lot. They are cherished. A friend once brought a t shirt with inscription "no more sickness" to an ailing friend all of a sudden an inner strenght came up and she regain her health. So others pls do it.

I am so happy to hear your husband is a survivor! The ring is a very nice and endearing touch. It is easy to neglect the little things - yet here you took the time to give such a special gift. My husband and I renewed our vows five years ago this week - now that was special too!
