Thunder! Lightening! Here comes the rain....

Ominous Clouds - This photo shows a cloud that may be the case of some bad weather....we watch the weather in many ways...but we are all subject to tolerating whatever comes along...

As I sit here trying to respond to my friends discussions...I hear loud thunder and can see lightening rippling across the sky...the rain is coming AGAIN!! It seems like it has rained here every day forever!! We are all subject to the weather...we sit and watch it with expectations of varying types.... I live on top of a large hill...I do not worry too much about flooding but watch every day on the news about new places that are under water due to all of the rain as of late.... I do have a low water bridge to cross in order to get to town....if it floods...I am stuck at home...that is ok with me....I am not in need of anything that I do not have here now... I am tired of the rain though...it does not seem to help my frame of mind much... We all watch the weather...either on tv, in person, through radio bradcasts, on our computers... So how do you watch the weather? Is is raining to extreme where you live too???

I don't mind the rain now and then but it's the thunder and lightening that gets to me - I think I get more scared than my son does! At the moment the rain has gone but it's likely that it will be back over the next day or two according to the weather man. At least it will be a lot cooler than it has been over the last couple of days!

I guess that if it was not raining...I would be complaining about a drought...LOL I don't like the thunder...BUT I love the lightening...where I live it is so dark at night that the lightening will light up the whole sky....I do not like the damage potential but when it stays off the ground...it is beautiful... You sound ike my only daughter....she is deathly afraid of storms...I can't count the number of times that she has gathered her children and slept in the bathtub or came to the house....it is funny because her children are 7 & 9 and they share her fear....my 5 yr. old son loves storms like I do..... Thanks my friend for sharing with me...

Well it hasn't rained here in forever it seems,my yard is starting to turn brown. I watch the news and weather channel all the time. Mostly because i am watching to see if my hubby will be rained out of work since he is a carpenter. We are recovering from a pretty nasty heat wave,I would love to see some rain right about now. I seem to feel better when it rains, must be my warped mind lol.

I love the rain...but it is getting extreme here...can't mow the yard which seems ot have taken on a life of it's own because it is too wet.... I love your little warped mind, my dear!!! I wish I could bottle some of this up and send it your way....LOL So has your hubby gone back to work...I continue to pray each day for so many of friends...that would be great if he is working again... xxoo

Now see what you've gone and done now with that other discussion? You've upset all the drips in the area and they are seeking revenge. HAHAHAHA!! We haven't had a bad storm all year here in Minnesota yet. One day last week it poured like heck for 5 minutes & that's been it basically. Sorry you get bored with storms. I myslef love them. I love taking photos of them and running in the rain and even playing in the puddles full of all us "drips". HAHAHA!! I gets me calmed down and feeling like a child again. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Don't be silly what I was trying to say is I started one that turned into a weather report. And so what if you started the same topic your story is very different to mine. The darn pole fell on the skylight and broke it! The rain was just pouring into the TV room. Both me and my husband tried to cover it with a tarpaulin to no avail the wind was too strong so we moved all the furniture out with a speed, and then we walked in our own house with umbrellas it was quite funny I must say, and then I almost thrown a tantrum because I couldn't go online! he he just thought I'd share that with you.

Awww, my friend...I can see you trying to cover the skylight with the trampoline....and then umbrellas....gosh, how funny...I am sorry that I missed that one....what a visual that made.....I am laughing so hard....I needed to laugh....feels so strange...I do not think that I have laughed in a million years (so it seems).... I did not want to step on your toes, my dear friend...thanks!!!

Hi tinamwhite,in our country, the SiChuan also suffering from a bad strom, they are so many people get the key of the street,I very sorry to hear that.I think it all our people don't pay more attention on the environment pollute, they are destroy environment's balance,so in this society, the entironment is become badly.I think we must protect our environment,it's only for improving our life but also we must creat a good environment to our child.. I don't watch the weather everyday, sometime i know about weather from my classmate, but in the summer i like the raining day,it is very cool.hehe...

I agree, people have wasted so much time "talking" about stopping the distruction of our planet yet everyday it continues...they talk of "cleaning" things up...it is so ridiculous...the way we sqander our livelyhood.... The "home" we are leaving to our children and grandchildren...we should be ashamed...and doing everything possible...to try to reestablish a proper ecosystem and stop all of the pollution... Thanks so much for sharing with me....

I sure know what you mean, we have had so much rain the last few weeks, but we really can't afford to complain...when it stops it may not rain again for months and months! We have had enough in the first 6 months to match a normal year's worth! Flooding has been a big problem in our area, but like you, I live in a high place that isn't likely to flood, but it has been bad for a lot of people here. The thunder and lightning get to me too!

Txbluejay, please let me take this opportunity to welcome you to myLot...it is a wonderful community to be a part of...you can seek advice, make new friends from all over the world and learn about other cultures/countries, share your experiences and make a little money too....I hope that you find it a enjoyable place to spend some of your time... I have watched the news and seen so many places that are horribly flooded here in the States.... I know that if I have to worry about flooding where I live...there are several local towns that are gone.....of course, taking out all of the local groceries and feed stores for my animals... Thanks so much for sharing with me...

Thanks for the welcome! I just discovered mylot this evening. For someone who is at home alone most of the time, this is wonderful. I love cake decorating (but cannot do a lot of it due to arthritis) and have previously spent a lot of time on cake forums and websites, but this one covers anything and everything! Quite a treasure of information, I'm looking forward to learning a lot and making friends. I have to agree, it seems so strange, we have flooding all over the place, then other areas are so dry and having terrible fires, if we could just spread it all around evenly and help everyone. Thanks again for your great welcome!

I actually don't keep up with the weather. I just deal with it as it comes. The rare occasion that I do need to do so because of a trip or something a long those lines, I'll look it up on the internet.

Here in England we've had terrible flooding, with people having their homes flooded and people finding themselves homeless, it's horrific and very sad for the poor people. We have had one of the most wettest June's out and as for Summer, well that's been and gone. We have autumnal (fall) weather now and if we do get a bit of sunshine it's shortlived, already the nights are starting to get darker again. The Winters get warm too and it can only get worse. So far this July has been abysmal a day or two here or there of sunshine. If we do get the warmth it's always the humidity. Trouble is we can't cope with all the rain, and if we do get a dry patch they start complaining of droughts!

I think that is the general mindset....we, humans..with us it is always feat or famine....LOL....the same with the weather.... It really fascinates me to think about the way that the seasons are opposite here....summer just officially began here on June 21st....we have mild winters where I live too.. I hate to hear about the flooding but one of my other friends lives in England as well, and has been so worried about her daughter with all of the flooding there.... In the States, there are several states here that are experiencing similar flooding...in Texas for example it had rained for over 40 straight days....unbelievable!!! and causing massive losses of homes, livestock, vehicles, and even a few deaths.... I wish there was a way to evenly balance out the weather where the extremes were not so severe... Thanks, my friend for sharing with me...

Summer started here 22 days ago and it feels like a long drawn out spring time where the fround should be preparing itself to yeild forth a bountiful harvest in the fall BUT instead it will rain either part of or all day....the kids want so badly to go swimming and fishing but the weather will not tolerate it.... We are not really having much flooding where I live but there are lots of places near by that is...roads closed, and massive property destuction...

It is very hot today again. So I wouldn't mind a bit of rain, and as for storms I love to watch them and where I live it is almost impossible, as I live in a middle apartment there are suites on both sides as well as above me, I only have my living room window and bedroom window that look out side and in front of my window is a blank wall, so I can look out on to my wee garden (weeds) and it is quit hard to see what it is doing, as I can not see the sky nor hear any thing I am in the middle of the cradle.I am often surprised when I go out of the building I see puddles on the ground. My daughter will call me and ask me if the thunder woke me up and of course I say what thunder. I still love to run through puddles with my granddaughter, if we are on the way home and getting wet and a bit dirty makes no difference.

Oh, yes, when there is no actual danger looming....I love to walk through a soft gentle rain...it brings my mind to a peaceful place... Running through the mud with the grandkids is a special occassion for me as well...although, it is usually me that falls flat on my butt....the kids always think that is so funny!! I live on top of a big hill..the last house...at the end of a 1/2 mile driveway....I can't even see another house from here...I can't see lights anywhere but here at night...I would not do well in a city enviroment.... Thanks my friend, for sharing with me...

I had a discussion on it the other day, here in SA the weather is up side down to say the least! Our satellite pole came down on the skylight breaking it into million little pieces! I think the whole weather pattern all over the world is quite screwed up. I live in a coastal town, and we get our rain mainly in summer. This winter it has been raining and the wind is blowing like a crazy beast. Normally our winters are very mild with temperatures averaging 18C/64F min 24C/75 max but this year it is freezing cold 8C/46F My husband had to go and buy a heater, the first time in my 24 years in this town. I think Global warming is no longer in the distance, and just a news topic, I think it is upon us!

I tend to agree with you, my friend....I am so sorry that I started a similar discussion...I honestly did not do a search....please forgive me...it was unintential.... The weather is insane everywhere...places that are used to lots of rain are experiencing droughts and vice versa... Summer just began here 22 days ago....I really would like to have a few days of sunshine... I have never lived anywhere that I did not require air conditioning in the summer and a heater in the winter...to have to purchase your first heater in 24 years must feel so strange to you....the thought of not having one..to me is hard to even imagine... It must be lovely living in a coastal town...I love the ocean but it also holds many unknown fears to me...having lived the majority of my life in the middle states of the United States....I have lived on the Florida coast for awhile...but it just wasn't "home"...LOL

Here they keep saying that we are going to have a clear and sunny day.....but it insists upon clouding up and raining at least once that day OR it just rains all day... I love the vibrant green which comes with all of the rain...and I truly do enjoy a walk in the rain or to watch it from my windows...the fresh crispness that is a part of the rain....but gosh, it is summer here and some sunny days would be a nice change....LOL

I also like the availablitlity of desktop weather with radar and everything.... I like rain and watching the lightening flash across te sky...where I live...it is pitch black at night...there are not any lights to be seen...so when the lightening flashes across the sky...it is breathtaking... I hope that you get some rain and we get a couple days of sunshine...we would both be pleased with that arrangement...LOL

Yes rain has become the theme of this summer, not only here in Denmark but in all parts of the northern Europe. As you say flooding is on the news every day, but as i remember just few years back it used to be everywhere else but in my backyard. But this summer we have had loads of flooding here and in all the countries surrounding us. I too find this very depressing. Im not the one for high heat temperatures, as long as i can just have a little sunshine.
