What was the worst injury you've ever received? How did it happen?

I had one of the worst injuries when I was a kid. To begin with, I was very naughty and ignorant as a kid. I had many playmates who used to live in the same lane in the city. One day when we were chasing each other on the street, I happened to run into iron bars on a cart near my home. All of a sudden I found my left eye flashing like many twinkling sparkes. My left eye got so hurt and swollen big and painful. I cried all the way home to my mom who used some medicine on my swollen eye and later in a couple of days my eye got well again. Ever since this, whenever I got a cold, my eye got swollen big and felt so painful. During the course when I was at primary school, I had to stay in hospital for at least more than half a month every school term and thus my study was quite influenced without a solid foundation, especially in mathematics. As the doctors could not cure this bad disease I had got, my parents were advised to go to some well-known fortune-teller and got a special kind of medicine for me to take and it worked, which is a kind of bug called centipede. Ever since I have been completely recovered to normal state as my eyes used to be. I appreciate the fortune-teller very much and after I graduated from college and started to work, I bought lots of things to thank for the guy to have helped save me from the painfulness. Till now I still have my gratitude to the guy though so many years have passed and so many changes have taken place. How I wish he is still somewhere to be found for me to say Thank You to him once again...I will never forget his kindness to me. I consider him my lifesaver. May God bless him!

Once i was hit by a cart in a slope in my stomach.That was the worst injury till now.But fortunately it didnot resulted in anything serious.It is good that you have not recived any injury & hope will not recieve also.

On December 30, 2003, at about 9:30 at night, I was cutting plywood on a radial arm saw when my supervisor told me to hurry up, and that we needed to finish four pallets by the end of the shift. I looked over at him, and moved my left hand without realizing it. When I pulled the arm back, the 16" circular blade tore halfway through my hand, completely severing the index finger. We never did finish four pallets that night. :S I had X-Rays taken at the local hospital, then rode an ambulance to Cal Pacific in San Francisco (Good thing I was on Worker's Compensation; the ride cost some $2,000!!!). I had surgery the next morning to reconnect bone, blood vessels, muscles, nerves, and the volar plate in my index finger. A second operation was performed six months later to remove internal scar tissue and restore mobility to the index finger (it was stuck in a pointing position). I spent hours upon hours at occupational therapy to regain use of my hand. Thanks to the miracles of modern medicine, and a lot of hard work, I can touch-type and play piano again. I have feeling in my finger, but numb and tingly; it will likely remain that way. I occasionally get an itch where the nerve was cut, but it feels ever so soothing to scratch it lightly. I also have a coffee can full of salad macaroni to swish my hand around in and dampen the nerves a bit. My hand works! I'm happy with it. :)

when we fell off the motorcycle with my boyfriend. he got bruises and i had a sprained ankle and bruises too. i got rid of his motorcycle for good. so it wont happen again. :-)

The worst injury i've received was when my cousin and I played basketball and I twisted my right foot. It was so painful.

I ever got car accident twice, first at junior high school only got scar. and second 7 years ago with my husband but I also got scar. I was lucky nothing serious happened to me. and I hope in the future will never happen.

It would have to be the burns from the fire we just had in April. I also fell and so with the combined pain it was not easy time. Burns can actually be the worst since it involved the nerve endings. I am fortunate that they have pretty well healed and that I cannot tell where they were mostly. I agree that we need never to have a fire in our lives again.

The worst injury I have ever gone through is a sprained ankle. It is something I do not wish to go through again. I hope in the future that I don't go through something worse than that. Having any sort of injury is not something I wish for or wish on my worst enemy.

I've had a couple of bad ones usually based around playing soccer. A few years back I was playing and foolishly wasn't wearing any shin pads. Someone tackled me and raked their cleats right down my shin. I thought my leg had been broken as I couldn't put any weight on it at all. Luckily it wasn't and all I had was a monster bruise for a ouple of weeks. Then more recently I tore the meniscus in my knee making it almost impossible to walk. I had to go through 6 weeks of rehab for that one....very painful

I have to admitt that I am a clumbsy person. I was washing dishes when I was about ten. I put my hand up inside a glass to wash it and it broke. My first instinked was to pull my hand out. When I did the glass cut into my the back of my hand. The glass went in and cut clear down to a vain. It was terrible, blook every where. It took only two stitches because of it being deep not long. I was told how luck I was by the doctors. My mom through away all glasses made of glass and only used plastic from then on. I am the same way. I have not glass in my home only plastic. I no longer have to worry about cutting myself.

when i worked i was gassed twice that was realy scary

Hello kyuts. I'm also fortunate not to have any major injury. I can only thank my guardian angel and my maker for keeping me safe. I always heard from a lot of friends about injuries from a family member and it never failed me to realize just how blessed and lucky I am. :)

I broke my tailbone on a water slide in Las Vegas at Wet and Wild water park. I went down the slide, and when I hit the bottom, my tail bone bounced off the end of the slide and I broke it. I had to ride all the way from Las Vegas Nevada three hours to where we lived to go to the hospital at the military base. I was in so much pain I couldn't bear it. Now, from the broken tail bone I have a pinched nerve and I can't sit for long periods of time. I think that is the worst that has happened to me so far.

I guess the worst was many years ago when I came off a motorbike I wasn't supposed to be riding. I fell backwards and hit the base of my spine on the kerb of the road and the bike landed on my leg. I was in a bit of a mess, to say the least, I was very lucky not to have broken my back, but I spent 8 weeks in traction and plaster.

Er..either the time my forearm got burnt (it had gotten stuck to our wood stove at the time), or the time that a chunk got taken out of my hand in a fight. *shrugs* I get into my share of fights, but I don't tend to get injured a lot. The time I got burnt was an accident when I was reall young, the chunk was taken out of hand last December.

The worse injury I had was a car crash where I had a severe blow to my head. I was knocked out for hours and to this day cannot remember the minutes that lead up to the crash. Somehow the car landed up in a wall with the steering wheel pushed through the rear window - the police found no other vehicles??

I have my worst injury when I was a kid about 9yrs old. We own a jeepney and my father drive it and actually the jeepney is not in a good running condition thats why we have to go home. When were almost infront of our house I suddenly jump at the jeepney that I thought It was already stop and my knee was struck in the stone and my knees starts to bleed and the wound was so deep. I can't walk for a couple of weeks, until now it leaves a scar on my knees.

well i did not have such a bad injury...as far as i remember friend i had some bad injuries while trying to cycling for the first time...some deep and bad cut on my legs...thats all.... what about in the future...i pray not to have one ever...so do for you all

the worst injury for me was wheni was studying 3rd std we were playing lock and key, Do you know that game? Every child would have played that. When my friend was chasing me i ran fast on the stone kept for laying the roads i fell on that putting all my weight on the single knee my leg got fractured, i coulsdn't get up.After i got treatment then its ok again i started playing. This is the most bad injury i had.
