A Welcomed Surprise

As most here know, I am here mostly for the making of friends especially foriegn friends. As a lot of you know I have traveled to meet a lot of people I've chatted with online in the past through the A.A.chat rooms and web sites as well. I met a 19 year old Chinese student here & she asked me to help her with her English. So we have exchanged many PM's and emails in the past few months. We have gotten fairly close through the internet. Anyhow as I was reading here on mylot Buster started to bark very loudly. then I heard the knock on the door. I opened the door and it was my mailman. "I have a registered packagae for you Bob from China." What a pleasant surprise. I opened it and set it up. Attatched is a photo of my gift from my lil' sweetheart Jenny. I wish to thank you very much here Jenny. And I also wish to thank myLot for the friends I've gotten to know here as well. I only wished I could afford to go to China to meet this sweetheart in person. I wanted to write/send a snail mail thank you but her return address is in Chinese. HAHAHA!! Have a great day/evening all. Make friends here it's a blast.

That is absolutely wonderful !! You are a very nice man to be helping her with her English (don't worry I won't tell..lol) And that is the cutest frame I've seen in a while. What a nice surprise to get something in the mail from a far away friend. I have made many friends here from many different countries. It is amazing how many people you can meet via the internet. I am truly happy for you Grandpa Bob !!

Thank you very much. I enjoy her trying to speak (type) English.
That and school are the reasons she isn't around much. But when
she does come on mylot I am elated to say the least. I just saw
you on the other side of the world also you little monkey.

well I'm foreigner too, I just happen to live closer to you. that's very nice of her sending you gift and you are also very nice of teaching her English. As for being your friend, I feel comfortable posting in your discussion. I think you're a nice person. Take care.

that's great gabs.i haven't met anyone personally but i had been able to make a stronger bond with my myLot friends. and it's a good start i guess. maybe one day, i will be able to meet some.. anne

It's so nice grandpa....You see you are so kind and good person so what else than you find good friends too.It was so sweet thought sent you a gift,but was very sweet that you wanted help Jenny with her English.
I alway say that you are very good friend grandpa,and I'm glad to find you here.I'm also sure you have many good friends too.

I agree-- Mylot is great because of the friends we make here- the
money is an added benefit. I'm glad you got a surprise- what a
thoughtful idea from your friend- With this statement and thanking
mylot for allowing you to make friends- does this mean you will be
back more often- after all it's a site for friends!

Wow grandpa. You must be in a state of euphoria to receive this kind of rare surprise. Who's to say that online friends can't be our real friends as well. I agree that through the Internet, we will be able to have true and sincere friends. We only need to be careful in whom we are talking to.
Why not have your friend's address xerox copied and you can paste it on the envelope. I used to send a lot of Chinese address printed in sticker for all my friends when I worked and stayed in another Asian country.

of the world" as weel. HAHAHA!! My wife has a customer that's
a well traveled woman and she will have it deciphered. LOL.

that's so sweet of jenny to do. she was able to brighten your day. i guess it's not necessary to meet her in person. but it will really be fun, too. but jenny understands you... i know she does.
i love myLot. i have met lots of people here, good or bad, does not matter for as long as they are human beings by heart. (you know what i mean). i had been able to send some stuffs to two of my closest myLot members, maribel and archerzbaby. both are from the philippines (i am from the philippines, too but now in sweden). it makes me feel accepted just being here. the friends i've met here will always be a great part of my life... anne

It looks like you still attract lots of really positive friends. That was an awesome thing for her to do, sending you a present. It is useful and decorative, and has a fun loving spirit, just like you. Enjoy it, and think of her all the time when you see it. I like your suprise.

That is such a wonderful thing that your little sweet friend from china would send you something special. Mylot has been a great place to make friends. My wife and I have made friends with people throughout the world and we send snail mail letters and post cards to them and receive the same back from them.

Hello grand pa bob! Im really happy for you, its nice to know that our friendship here on mylot could flourish like this and could be much deeper than pm's and chatting. You are very kind to help her with her english and out of real gratitude she gave you something to remind you of your kindness.
I also remember I recieved a a cute kangaroo from my Australian friend, I also gave him one of those cute crafts I made and mailed it to him with some sand painted spider man that I also made for him. It was nice, he gave me a picture shoing that he framed the sand painted spiderman and placed it on his cubicle at work.

alone getting it past customs. USA frowns on live animals

That is what makes mylot so special! I know I've met a few friends here, myself, that I'd give my left arm for if I knew they needed it. It's funny how a little thing like a keyboard and monitor can make this big world such a small, intimate place to be. :)

How wounderful you can help her with her English. How generous that she sent you a gift. Isnt it great she thinks so much of you.
I also love all my new friends I have made her on myLot. I like the way it is set up, that we can responde to each others discussions and it is done well.

That is so sweet of her. I have made some good friends here on Mylot. I would love to meet some of them in person. I have a few friends that keep in touch thru email. I have also talked on the phone to another friend, we even exchanged some flower seeds. I am so happy that I found Mylot, we sure have an opportunity to get to know people from all over the world.

What a lovely thing for Jenny in China to do. And her nbame is the same as mine. It is quite an unusual photo frame, & very atttractive.
What a pity her return address is in Chinese. Can you start a discussion asking for a Chionese translater?
Then you could send her something small.
I agree that My Lot has a lot of benefits for the genuine, earnings not being one of them.

Ahhhhhhh I knew you couldn't stay away from us, Grandpa Bob. You love us too much to 'punish' us like that. :-) We love you as well and glad you decided to stay after all. I have quite a few friends from all over thanks to the internet. Some I have actually met in person which was even better cause then I could give them a real hug instead of a virtual one. Hopefully, one of these days it'll be our turn to meet which shouldn't be too hard since we don't live too far from each other. :-) Besides, still waiting on those raspberries. -grinning- (((((((((((((((((((((((( Grandpa Bob )))))))))))))) Welcome back!!!

well, you could photocopy her address and paste it on the envelope! if you wrote everything in english, the postman in china might not understand either!
just make sure you write CHINA in english at the end of the envelope so that the US postman can channel it to the right country!

how nice it is to gain some friends from different country right..so sweet of her to send her thank to you..i will the same if i was her becase yo had helped her a lot i think..
