He is playing the person who plotted to kill Adolf Hitler. It seems some Germans think he is unfit to play the part since he has such big ties to the Church of Scientology. http://www.arcamax.com/religiousnews/s-215443-346852

The church of scientology is an incredible scam and a phoney religion. This so-called "religion" is even banned in many countries for good reason. They commit fraud to take money from people. Their so-called religious beliefs were written by a science fiction writer and are, in fact, science fiction. I urge anyone who thinks this is too harsh to use the myLot search engine to research "scientology". You will be amazed concerning the beliefs and practices of "scientology". Now, if you were the Germans, would you want one of your few heroes from WWII to be protrayed by, or associated in any way, with the phoney church of scientology?

I again urge people to use the myLot search engine to research this subject. That anything like "scientology" could even exist in this modern age is appalling.

Being a Christian, I always felt it was phony, but had no facts to back up my instincts. Thanks for the info.

I believe the Church of Scientology is a big fat scam and I believe that some of the other religious sects that exist fall into that category too. they do match the criteria to be a cult. I think that Tom Cruise has become much more weird since he became one, but I still don't see why that has any bearing on his acting in this role. As long as he does a good job and makes the movie a hit, then he did what he was supposed to do. Although he looks nothing like the person he is supposed to play and I don't know if he will be able to pull the accent off.

No matter who plays the role, some people are going to gripe about it. Who cares any way, as long as the movie is fairly accurate(since its Hollywood, we all know it won't be factual) and the acting is good.

If I was him I would be scared to play in a movie like this.

I don't care for Tom Cruise personally, and I think Scientology is a cult, not a religion. I think Tom Cruise is Ok as an actor, and If I wanted to see a movie that looked interesting, I'd watch it, even if he was in it. I thought he was great in Rain Man.

I don't think that his religious beliefs should play a part in him being chosen for this part. It is a job. He is an actor. It would be like saying a catholic shouldn't work in a day care. How stupid is that?

They can gripe all they want, but that will not stop tom from making the movie.

..well, I think he's gotten goofy.. but I don't know what that's got to do with anything.. There's likely lots of roles some in Hollywood don't really measure up to..

I think acting is acting, and that hes not the first to play a controversial role...Its a movie, and he is an actor....and its his job to act... I dont think it should make any difference what church he is a part of or not....
