How do you deal with people who mistreat your pet?

This afternoon I was sitting at my desk and as I looked out the window and I watched my dog run by to hide behind the bush, outside my window, to hide beneath it. One of my roommates came into view and was carrying the leafblower and directing it at my dog. Well, you can just imagine the mood that put me in! I waited for the guy to come inside the house. I then walked into the kitchen and confronted him. He had the nerve to tell me that he did not do what I said he did and that he did not even see my dog outside. The fact of the matter is, the vertical blinds were partially closed so the guy did not see me sitting there. He then told me to stay out of his face and referred to me in a durogatory choice of words. I left the room and reported the happening to the guy who owns the house. Now, the guy who owns the house has to keep the peace and that is not an easy job. He is already upset with the other renter about several other issues. I have informed him that I will not tolerate anyone abusing or teasing my dog. The dog was an abused animal when I took him in. The dog doesn't trust the other renter and avoids him. I am trying to be diplomatic about this issue But the "Mother Bear" syndrome is taking presidence and I find myself wanting to tear into the guy. Does anyone have any wise advice they can throw in here to help me deal with the jerk who finds sport in tormenting my dog?

I had a neighbor that used to tease my dog everyday, and I told him that one day my dog was going to bite him because the dog was always growling at him. and one day he was horsing around with my daughter and my dog just lunged at him and bit him in the face. he never messed with my dog again.

Your reply brought back memories of an incident long ago. My ex used to blow in my dogs face to tease him. I kept telling my ex that one day the dog would get even. My ex bares the scar to prove that fact. The scar is on his upper lip. My current dog is still nervous around the bad roommate but he loves the guy that owns the property. The dog talks to him the same way he does to me. The dog has this woo woo thing that he does and he wags his tail so fast that his tail gets ahead of his nose. Thanks for your reply!

oh he used to do that to my dog too and it made me so mad. I tried to avoid him when I took the dog out but that was not easy! LOL

I would not have waited for the guy to come in, I would have gone and given him a piece of my mind. ANd basically, I would tell him, I would call the police if I ever saw that person near my dog again That person had no right to do that, from now on stay with your dog when it is outdoors, do not give anyone the opportunity to abuse your pooch.

Hey deb, I only waited so that I wouldn't hit the guy. I was that angry! As it is, he knows that I have a temper now. He also will not talk to me and that is good too. Now he won't preach to me about his religion. As for the dog, we are living on several acres and he is an outside dog. Maybe I need to teach the dog to pee on the guys wheels.....lol The owner of the property has made it clear that my dog is not community property. Now only time will tell.

The animal abuser has religion and dares to preach about it. That is some kind of strange religion.

I had a talk with the owner and he made it clear to the other renter that I want my dog left alone. I think the guy gets the idea now since he acts like I am not there. I am not in a position to move since I just started classes and it would put me way behind. Can't afford that or the move. I have a feeling that the guy may choose to move since he knows that the owner and I get along.

It is not up to me to kick him out. I did have a talk with the owner and he let the guy know that it would not be tolerated. Now the guy is staying away from me and acts like I am not there. Fine with me! He knows how I feel about him and that I will not hesitate to call him out for it.
