Breakfast: What do you eat?

What do you eat for breakfast? Do you cook a hot meal? Throw cereal in a bowl? Grap something on the way out or on the way? Gather some berries and throw them in your mouth? I've done all of the above. I'm getting too old for the fast meals, but often don't have much time to cook. Besides I'm curious about what other people eat for breakfast. Especially people from different countries and different parts of the US. Food and different cultures (and I was taught in college that every family is a different culture)are two of my great loves.

Hi writersedge. In my breakfast, I usually eat breads at least three to four pieces with cream cheese fillings. Sometimes, I used to eat rice with fried eggs or cereal corn flakes in the morning. Of course, my breakfast will be incomplete without drinking a cup of hot chocolate or tea. That’s it. Have a nice day and God speed!

Hi Braveheart 07, I've never had rice for breakfast or cream cheeses on bread. I've had cream cheese on bread for lunch and for a snack before. Take care

Hi,we have the same concerns and here are a few things I do to ensure a healthy and quick breakfast.Make slices of garlic or any other variety of bread you like and store a serving of each in sandwich bags.Boil a few eggs and keep in the fridge.Make dips and store them in small disposable containers (the ones you get flavoured yoghurt in).In the mornings just choose one pop in the micro and your breakfast is ready by the time you brush your teeth.Keep different juices and flavoured milks in stock too.But remember,if you are heating a boiled egg in the micro, remove the shell and slice it into two beforehand. We had an eggsplosion in the micro recently. If you like these ideas and want to know more esp about healthy and tasty Indian breakfast visit the blog www.healthybreakfast.blogspot.com

Indian breakfast, how wonderful! You mean India Indian, not Native American, I believe. Great ideas! I was making lunches and suppers ahead, but I never thought about making breakfast ahead. I think you're the 2nd writer to indicate making breakfast ahead of time. I've had "eggsplosions" too. So cutting them in half works. Now I know. Thank you very much.

It depends on how much time I have or what I'm in the mood for. Sometimes I'll have oatmeal or Grape Nuts or Shredded Wheat cereal with raisins and/or banana. Sometimes I'll have a piece of fruit or a fruit smoothie. On more rare occasions I'll make pancakes.

I like shredded wheat with fruit, too. Grape nuts I like in muffins. Did you know that in New England, they have grape nuts pudding? I tried it once and it was good. OOOOOOOWWWWWW, smoothies, I love them. I don't usually have them for breakfast, but for a snack or part of a large meal. Interesting idea, though. Pancakes--usually on a day off. A lot of work on a regular day. Thank you for responding!

Great, glad I could "peek your interest for something new." Hope they turn out well. Let me know how you do/how you like the taste. The pudding was news to me, found out about it last year. But the muffins, that's about the only way I had grape nuts and all bran, were in muffins. Have fun and take care.

Fried rice consist of rice butter or margarine and lots of garlic. You can add anything you want but the usual ingredients are bacon, ham, or mix veggies and cheese. it all depends on you. Here in the philippines its very popular for breakfast.

I love garlic! Here in America, most people don't understand garlic for breakfast. But I like your description of fried rice for breakfast. Thank you very much. With veggies and meat sounds almost like our omelettes.

Interesting breakfast, fried rice and egg. I don't think I've ever had that for breakfast. Do you have rice, oil, and egg together or separately? Does the rice have anything else in it? Thank you for responding.

That's a lot of biscuits. My husband sometimes eats 2 or 3 biscuits with maple syrup for breakfast. What are tiffen, chapathi, umpa, and pulohara? I don't know these foods. CAn you explain? Thank you.

We have the following interchangeably: cereal, smoothie, scrambled egg and bacon, coffee or fruits. Of all, my hubby loves to have smoothie for his breakfast. As for me, I love egg and bacon the most.

Good rotation! I love smoothies and eggs. Once in a great while I like well-cooked bacon. Usually women like the smoothie and men like the bacon and eggs. But I like situations where things are turned around like that. I like sardines and my husband can't stand them! Ha, ha, thank you for your response. Take care

Thank you! We are really reversed when it comes to that. hehehe....Same here, I love sardines too and my hubby will tease me by saying it's nasty everytime I eat it. He doesn't want to see it and I am also teasing him back by eating some sardines when we are eating together...LOL...

I like granola bars, mostly later in the day as snacks due to sugar content. Cereal is good if you can get the low sugar stuff. I love fruit for breakfast. Starts the day off like sunshine in a small package. Thank you for responding.

Your breakfast sounds similar to my husband's. One or two more items and you'd have an international breakfast. Nothing on the 2 slices of bread? Take care and thank you for responding.

Breakfast is a rare thing to me. But then I've got favorite breakfast treats like yoghurt, cereals and lately I am into soya milk.

I love yogurt. I haven't seen it spelled with an "h" in awhile. I think that's the original spelling. We have lots of kinds and some great flavors up here. I like the berry flavors the best. A lot of people write cereal, but I wonder what kind. There are so many kinds out there. Can't get into soya milk. Liked some really hyper-vanillad and hyper-sugared stuff for awhile, but I can't have high sugar stuff for breakfast. In other words, if it tasted like vanilla and sugar, not soy, I could like it. But everyone is different and I have friends that really like soy and can even eat plain tofu, that's just not me. Have a nice day and thank you for responding.

Boxes of cereal - My favorite cereals
I basically throw cereal in a bowl because it's the fastest thing to do. It's not that I'm in a hurry but I take medication and like to have something to eat first. Of course I have my favorite cereal and like to start my day out with it.

What's your favorite cereal? I like all the ones that make my blood pressure go up. I have to eat before I take my medicine, too. That's part of why I have fast meals.

I like the bread and hot chocolate. Rice I could get into. But dried fish or hotdogs for breakfast. That would take some getting used to. Eggs, I love for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My husband loves fried ham. Thank you very much. Take care
