This May be "the one"! Maybe.

Butterfly - Tattoo or not?
United States
August 3, 2007 5:26pm CST
Here is a photo of the butterfly that I have been contemplating having tattooed on my right ankle. I would want the blue to fade into purple along the edges. My sister sent a few more that she liked too. I will post them in another discussion. Your comments are most welcome!

That's pretty cute, Elusive. I'm a butterfly lover, so practically any color would suit me. It's nice, though to have it in your favorite colors. Hope you choose wisely.

My sister will not allow me to run out and get the first one that I choose. I will have this for the rest of my life. I have to make 100% sure that "it" will be the "one".

I like it a lot. Very pretty. Definately get the blue to fade to purple as it will finish it nicely. Just make sure you go to a proper tatoo artist.

I like it - but I dont love it =) i would prefer a different color than yellow. Love the blue purple one though =) It is you who will haev it for the rest of your life, on your body so the most important thing is that YOU like it =) I love butterflies, they give me a feeling of freedom =)

I still haven't gotten the tattoo. I may look at this butterfly and "fix" it up a little more. Hubby likes the yellow in it, although I won't keep much of it, I will keep it to please him. Purple is my favorite color and I want to see more of it in this butterfly.

That is very pretty and you are very brave. I have been told that the ankle if the most painful place to get a tattoo as there is just skin and bone with very little flesh to cushion the needle.

I am going a little above the ankle. I was told not to go too low.

i think this butterfly will look great, but just make sure when you get the blue and the purple colors that you get a deep purple and a darker shade blue so that they wont fade.lighter colors sometimes have a tendency to fade some what,so i think it would look great with the colors you chose but a little brighter, especially with the bright yellow, this will make a beautiful statement on your ankle.i have a rose with cherokkee feathers wrapped around my ankel, but i went with brighter colors, and i had it now for almost 8 years and it look like i just got it done.

I love the color purple so getting a darker shade won't be an issue for me. I am also very light complected so the colors will stand out boldly.

That is really pretty sugar, just as it is. Can it get glitter too? Good luck and enjoy it. I know you have wanted this for a long time.

Very nice! A tattoo isn't something to rush into doing, take your time and find exactly the right one. It's permanent so you want to be sure you're happy with it?

My sister is paying for it and she won't allow me to run out and get the first one I "think" I like.

Oh, that butterfly is so pretty and delicate looking! I love all the different colours in it. I think you should definitely go with this one. It will look really nice especially in the summer with sandals. I don't have any tattoos myself but I am just starting to think about getting one. Maybe a lily, or a heart. But as I say I am just in the first stages of considering it so I don't really know yet. I read in the paper yesterday about a new type of tattoo that is designed to fade gradually away over time, so I think maybe I will wait a few years until they come on the market!

If I have to go through the pain of a tattoo, I would not want one that fades away. : )

It's delightful Elusive but I feel it's missing something. Have you decided where it will go? At the moment it's a simple butterfly drawing, it needs something to give it life.

It does look nice. Are you sure it will match your complexion and will not clash? I still think as butterfly brooch or earrings would be better, preferably diamonds though.

I have a earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings that I cannot wear to work. The butterfly tattoo will not fall off so it is the safest way to adorn my body.

I think I've mentioned before about my association with butterflies and my Mom's passing. During the last few months I have also been thinking about getting a tatoo this year. My birthday is New Years Eve and it seems appropriate this year because my husband and I have been going through a number of profound spiritual metamorphasis and a butterfly seems more significant than ever. So having said all that...I think you have made an excellent choice here. The colors choice is very significant...peaceful, spiritual, healing, au natural...and in line with some of the colors in your Avatar...so for what it is worth your choice has my vote! I trust you will share your tatooing experiences with the rest of us...I'd appreciate the inside scoop on discomfort during and after the procedure...it will help anyone else make an informed decision if they are considering on. Good luck with whatever you decide. I'll be checking in for updates..so long for now.

Hi again...thank you for the best response on this topic. When it showed up along with the picture you posted of your possible tattoo...I can see why it is in the running as a first choice. Good luck with whatever one you do choose...and I look forward to hearing how it goes..I am giving serious consideration to getting a tatoo for my birthday this coming New Year's Eve.

If you like I say go for it. I think tattoos should be personal and only the person wearing it gets to judge it. IMO anyways
