I am using McAfee Anti virus software program, which came bundled with my laptop. Do you use antivirus software for protection of your computer/laptop? And if the answer is yes, then have you bought your copy of the anti-virus software or are using a freeware/demo version of the software.

I hate McAfee. it's what we use on the computers at my work. I just kind of think it's crap personally. At home I use Nortons, which really isn't much better but I think i does a little better. It's good to have protection but it's even better to just use your own smarts and don't download stupid stuff.

You know, you don't have to download stuff anymore to be attacked by viruses. There was a hijacker virus that was embedded in photos and messages from "myspace". The virus that cost me a computer came in a phony paypal email. Of course, I didn't know it was phony until I opened it and then it was too late. I would suggest you try Prevx 2.0 - it's working much better for me than Norton did.

Considering I work in a technology support job (not that you know that) I know that virus' come elsewhere. I also know that I don't open emails from people I don't know. I also use Gmail which is pretty great at marking spam and shows you a preview of the mail before you open it so you know it's definitely not something you care to open. I also know that myspace and many things like that can spread virus' which is also why I don't read certain types of bulletins or messages because I can just tell by the subject lines and/or people who sent them that it would not be a wise thing to read them. The key is knowing where virus' come from and how to spot them. and my computer is ridiculously old and really can't handle much of anything. I'd prefer sticking with my nortons than killing my computer by changing it to something else. and of course using my smarts. but thank you for the suggestions anyhow :)

I am using AVG Free edition and is quite happy with it. It uses very little resources, can be updated on a regular basis and yes it can detect, block and clean most viruses.

I have never bought any anti virus from the shop. I download from the internet such as Avast,AVG, avast free tool and SuperAntispyware. They are working very well to protect my computer and at work. I have tested a lot of anti virus programs. You can download from the internet.

I had Norton bundled with my notebook but I did not use it since it only came with 60 days free subscription and after 60 days you have to purchase the subscription for a year and then next year and so on. Therefore, I uninstalled Norton and go for AVG FREE. It has done its work well so far and managed to intercept quite a lot of virus that try to come via my mails.

Yes I used an antivirus software to protect my computer from virus treats. No I have not bought my copy of the software. I am using a freeware version and I make it a point to update it regularly. So far it has been working for me.

I used the free version of AVG up until almost a year ago when I decided to purchase Anti-Virus protection for added security; we have three computers constantly in use in our home. We decided to stick with AVG, purchased three copies, and have been very pleased with its performance.

We lost one computer earlier this year because of a virus that killed our memory. Norton Anti-virus came loaded on my new computer. I was never happy with it because it didn't fully remove malware and trojans. I always had to manually go through my registry and system32 file trying to find suspect applications and folders. I was constantly plagued by pop-ups, redirects and hijackers. I even had to put a fraud alert on my paypal account and on my credit report. Finally, I discovered Prevyx 2.0. We haven't had one single problem since. Not one unauthorized pop-up. Right now, we are still using the demo but when the trial expires we will be subscribing to the full service.

i'm using avast! antivirus, freeware version. used to use avg before this but based on previous experience, i found that sometimes whenever there's a virus, avg won't be able to detect it, so i decided to try another antivirus program hehe..

I used the anti-virus program from my internet service provider. I pay a small fee in my monthly bill to have the program. It works well for us.

I have McAfee Anti Virus too, but I have it from a friend. I never paid money for any kind of software, nor I see me doing that in the following years.

Its got all the features that other anti-virus have got, we can update it regularly nad it tracks and removes every kind of virus so it really good. The quality should be the first priority and AVG is rated very highly in the PC security market so i'm happy to have it.

I am currently using Avira AntiVir Classic Edition which is a freeware version. It is very effective in terms of scanning your machine against viruses and other malware. It runs in the background with auto-protect, thus adding some security for your machine. I can say that since using this one, I never had problems at all and I am very much satisfied using it. You can update this regularly and can be scheduled at your most convenient time. It is very light on resouces and does not eat a lot of memory. It does not slow down your computer system, even though it is running in the background. Its primary function and advantages is to provide protection against viruses, worms, and trojans, protection against dialers and phishing, and detects and delete rootkits. Avira has gained several awards. The product combines first-class detection rates and ease of use with a top performance that protects your machine safely. You can download this at www.free-av.com That's it. Have a nice day.

I too use AVG free antivirus and have no problems whatsoever with it. The only thing is that the Antispyware package is not free, and i hate to spend useful bucks n something like that. Ya, I know antivirus software are useful, and all that. But i just HATE to spend money on something like that, especially if there a lot more ways of getting it free AND without restrictions... And the other thing is we have to update it regularly, or its use is brought down drastically. So what have u got to say?
