Stupid Me! I can't believe what I did!

I started this discussion a little while ago about natural at home pregnancy inducing. And mostly people talked about Castor Oil. So dumb me, against everyone's advice I took it. I was only 35 weeks at the time so that was really dumb. But anyway, the Castor Oil made me so sick. The only thing I got from it was nausea, diarrhea, the worst diarrheal stomach cramping which was NOT contractions, and dehydration. I went to the doctor the next morning thinking I was having contractions because my stomach was hurting so bad. They did a work up on me. I was dehydrated, my blood pressure was high because I was dehydrated, and they put me on the fetal monitor and the monitor to check for contractions. They also gave me an IV and I had to lay there and get a whole bag of fluids. They wrote me a prescription for Phenergan which is for nausea and sent me home. I spent about 2-3 hours in the doctor's office and still no baby and no contractions. All I can say is STUPID ME! I should have known better. Maybe if I were more like 38-39 weeks it would have worked. But it tasted so horrible and made me so sick I would never ever try it again. And the thing is....they are doing my C-section in about 2 weeks anyway so I should have just been patient and I could have avoided the whole thing.

it is really difficult to be taking in anything without thorough knowledge about the proper application and timing of such things. it pays to be patient always. maybe what was meant there was when the pangs of labor is on the onset, it is good to take castor oil as it speeds up the process. so when the pangs of labor has not yet started, it is an unwise move to be having an intake of the product.

This is kind of a crazy comment. Of course I know how to make a baby that's how I got pregnant in the first place. That was my 3rd pregnancy so I very well know how to make a baby. I even have one already at home. Now that this new one is born that makes 2. If you read the discussion correctly, I was trying to say that I was almost 9 months pregnant and I was so tired of being pregnant that I was willing to try anything to make me hurry up and have the baby. And it was a stupid decision because it did not work. All it did was make me very sick. But I have had the baby already now. He only came when the doctor induced my labor and I had a c section.

Years ago when my oldest daughter was about 2 weeks over due my Dr. tols me to take 3 tablespoon of Caster oil. It was the hardest thing I ever had to swollow. It really had no taste ot was just like trying to swollow a big glob. any way I took it made arrangementds for my 2 boys I then went home with a twinge or two and ended up setting on the pot for a couple of days. The baby came when she was readt 2 weeks later. So in my humble opinion castor oil is usless for starting contractions. That baby know when it's time to escape the womb. I think that babies being induce is not healthy for ether the mom or the baby.

wow that is scary. there are lots of ways of inducing labor. i watched an episode on friends about it when rachel was so pissed because the baby was more than a week late and they were willing to try anything to induce labor. i think the doctor suggested a lot of walking, eating spicy foods and even making love. she says the last one is proven to be effective. when ross and rachel started to have that her water bag broke so i guess it must work. =)

I'd have thought the only people that would try & induce themselves would be the ones who were on or past their due dates. It's a good thing you didn't do any damage to you or the baby. I know what it's like to be impatient & want the baby out (my belly was HUGE & i wanted my daughter out ASAP) but since i was having a C Section, i didn't want to go in to labour anyway! At least you're ok, good luck for when the baby arrives but i don't understand 1 thing - if you were having a scheduled C Section anyway, why would you want to go in to labour at all? If you got too far through the labour you'd need to finish it! :) Good Luck!

wow that sounds horrible. i've heard of taking castor oil but i never had the guts to consider it. a friend of mines sister took it and while it did cause her to have her baby, she also was really sick like you were. good luck with your c-section and your new bundle joy!
