For the question I would to tell you that Neither this is a complain nor this is to insult anyone. Just a personal observation of mine. I have seen that the members who has nice photos (specially females)in their avator or profile get much more responses and comments than other members. Is this fair? Do you look at the discusser's/responder's avator and profile when you are going to response or comment ? Have you ever notice in myLot what I pointed above?

For posts and female avatars, I havent noticed this. Usually people respond to me because I make some of the best posts I can. As for ratings and female avatars, I'm a case where its the opposite hah.

I don't pay a lot of attention to photos or avatars. Some are nice, others are plain but some still have the little green mylot guy. I think it's nice when you personalize it, but it doesn't affect how I respond to your post. My interest or likelihood to respond is based on your discussion topic, what you are asking, whether or not I think I have anything to contribute, etc... That being said, I think it's a good idea to upgrade your avatar from the little green mylot guy, if only to avoid being mistaken for hundreds of other people here.

Yes I have seen that many times in the almost 10 months I have been here. If the avatar is cute enough the poster can post a discussion of "I have pink shoes" and 20 guys are going to reply to it, LOL. What many don't understand just because it's a woman in the avatar doesn't mean it's a woman posting that’s what's so funny to me.

That is exactly what i meant in the topic. I feel down for those member who are cheating by their colorful avators or meaningless topic and feel saad for members who being cheated by it.

Might be coincidence but I did notice you not reply to those with female avatars or usernames.

Having good avatars does help, but people are not that dumb to attracted just avatars or cool pics. It's the content and how the threadhost writes their post, on how to put up a good story. We've been here for a very long time now, but we don't worry much of receiving responses from our posts. There are other ways to enjoy here, better if you look for it and explore.

Thatz the point. Avatars helps! I mean a member with a good/pretty/female expose or posed avatars has much chance to get response than members with regular/normal avatars even s/he has a better topic! I will look for better things ofcourse!

Watch out! I've got a shiny avatar. I'm not afraid to use it to coerce you!! Kidding. And yea Raijin, most people aren't just attracted to a good avatar. Sometimes it does get attention, but most will read what is being discussed or what the comment was (at least I hope so

Hi there.. I don't really depend on the picture/avatar in answering discussions. Whoever that member is and his/her discussion is I think a topic which I can respond and relate to, then definitely I will answer the discussion. Also, in my case, my picture/avatar helped me a lot. When my old account was hacked ( www.mylot.com/meeming ) I uploaded my own pictures there.. and luckily I was able to prove that that particular account is mine.. and so I started a new account ( this account ) So if ever what picture you upload as your primary picture, I hope people are using their real pictures. Coz, you might not know.. It helps a lot when identifying your account.. Just like me.. Best of luck to all!

hey dear, there is nothing like that..why i am saying this because most of the members here are not using their real life pictures for avatars and only animated ones or other similar pictures to display..so their is no question like people here prefer to respond to opposite gender or specially to good looking females..!!you are new here so you will come across many incidences which will automatically clear your doubts..myLot is a very good site and one with sensible people..i don't consider it necessary to explain why so as you will yourself find it soon..and one more thing i am not saying that your observation is wrong but it can be a possibility that the people you came across were either known to each other so they were responding to each others discussions or they were online friends here on myLot because everybody gives preference to respond to their friends more often..so i'll suggest you to make some good friends here and participate in their discussions and they will reciprocate by participating in your discussions..good luck and keep posting..have a nice time here..

I somehow have not noticed any "hot" looking avatars on mylott but let me be sure to look for some! Speaking as a guy, I do like looking at "hot looking" girls but there's not point in responding to a discussion if there's nothing in it that interest you.

I will have to but agree with your excellent and wonderful observation. YOu are quite on the dot and observed very rightly. Beautiful pictures of females bring more responses, than others. But, for me, I am concerned about the contents of the discussion, rather than the avatar, for me, my friends' discussions are most important to me and I reply to most of them, irrespective of their avatars. Very very Interesting Post indeed. p.s. - you are comparitively new, yet you made such a wonderful observations! Full marks to you!

I have not noticed this personally. I have noticed that awhile back there were a rash of "Do you think that I am pretty" discussions, but I never responded to any of them. Maybe for that type of discussion, it worked. The only time I look at a person's profile is when I am considering adding them to my friends list. Personally, I think that we all try to draw people to our discussions; if the pretty people can use their avatar to help, more power to them. If we banned good looking avatars, then we would have to ban trick titles, then the tags, then...well, you get the point.

I appreciate the way you follow to post your msg. I think every member should be much concern about the topic, not to avators or profile. I offcourse agree with you that banning those things will not give any advantage.Every member should have concern about quality topic.

I very rarely even look at the avatar before I pick the discussion to answer. the only time I do notice it is when I am sent back after commenting and the I look at it. Sometimes if the avatar interests me I read the profile attached. It is not only photos that attract my attention but strange pics.

I do look at the aviators but it has no bearing on whether I respond or not. I am a female tho. To be honest, I don't pay attention to who does or does not get the most responses. I just respond.

it's a common thing in every public community. people who are more appealing get more noticed! it's not fair or unfair, it's predictable, and human too.

Hi, you noticed just the right thing. But, it's natural, good looking faces attract more attention in every step of life. I noticed a thing extra, that is many good looking photos are fake, these are mostly of beautifull bollywood actor/actresses. Had any one noticed it before ?

yes you are true but this is not the same in all the cases. There are many males in mylot who get much responses. According to me it is the time you spent in mylot. The more time you spent here the more you will get responses.

I look at the person's discussions, not the avatars. I do look at the profile after I find one of their discussions interesting and if there is something in common, then I will invite them to be my friend. As for the photo avatars, I feel that shows that those who use photos of themselves are confident that no one will harm them or try to harm them. I did notice that those of a certain ethnic group are more likely to post their photos, because no one would mess with them, and that is what made me decide that we others have to show that we do not believe that someone is going to recognized us and do the "I hate you, I loathe you, I despise you" bit and book a plane ticket, order some explosive material, etc. It might also show that they are the modern equivalent of Helen of Troy or the next beauty queen, but that is besides the point.

I don't really think that the pictures or avatars of the members affects how many response one would get. What I have noticed though that those who posts good discussions and replies to them, do really get a good number of responses. It's the quality of the discussions that matters and not the avatar.

I have to say that I do not find this to be true- at least for myself. I usually go into reading the topic instead of concentrating at the avatars. I only go to peoples pages when I like a topic they started and want to see more of thier subjects ;)
