Has fear become our biggest health problem?

Does the fear of getting cancer sometimes keep you awake at night? Do you often wonder if you're going to have a heart attack or stroke? Do you check your blood pressure and cholesterol every day? If you don't you may soon be in the minority. Someone is making a lot of money from your fears. Would anyone like to comment?

Yep nothing like the medical industry to pray on peoples fears. Personally I just ignore them.

Well, it certainly doesn't keep me up at night, because I know I'm going to die of something one day. I don't check my blood pressure or cholesterol every day either, although I do have one of those blood pressure cuffs. I have to agree with you that preying on our fears has become a really big business. There's nothing wrong with keeping tabs on a problem you know you have, and I would recommend it if you KNOW you have a problem, but I'm beginning to wonder if we're all being turned into hypochondriacs!!!

Hi cblackink, Thank you for responding, very nice to see you here again. I'm like you, except that I don't have a blood pressure cuff. I have regular check ups and have the good fortune to be in good health, I realize everyone is not so lucky. I'm not talking about the common sense things, but there seem to be many people who think they have almost every disease they hear off. Blessings.

yup fear is the biggest health problem we face now , we are always back of making money and care a little about health and due to this we suffer from various ailments which make us feel that we would one day fall prey to cancer or heart attack

That is news. I don't spend time thinking if I would get cancer, TB or stroke as such. I check my pressure once a while, but no cholesterol. My BMI is perfectly within limit so I have no fear for cholesterol attack. By the way, who is making money from our fears?

Sometimes I will feel worried about my health. Especially when I find something wrong about myself. Besides, today there are less good doctors. The doctors now tend to earn more and more. They will frighten you with little cases and it drives you a heavy pressure. Then they will give you expensive treatment and medicines for little problems. I have experienced to it.

what brings us fear when we are in those situation is not being able to live the life you want. you are controlled by your situation,it limits you and literally your life. it is also frightening when we are the ones being served by our family instead of us serving our family. but these situations should never stop us from living the life we want and doing what we want. it is likely that when we are in these kind of sickness, we think of dying. but then every body will die you'll just die earlier than others.lol. they say that sickness is just in our mind, it is psychological.

It has become a great concern. It seems my parents have every illness you can think of so I am concern I might get them. They have high blood pressure. My blood pressure has increase on a couple of occasion. It's borderline so now I eliminate salt, and I am working on exercise.

Very good observation Pose!! I think that in the quest to make people more aware of the steps that they can take to prevent some problems, we have created a monster! Many times the research about what 'causes' cancer or other disease involves use of MASSIVE doses or exposure to the element being researched. We must remember that in moderation, most things affect us differently! I mean, if we tried to follow the rules of all the research, we'd live in out of the sun (melanoma), in an airtight bubble (exposure to pollution in the air) and never eat!!!

Well I think there is a lot of sense in what you say. Personally, nothing keeps me awake at night - LOL! I am so tired after a day at work I just fall asleep, and - bang - out like a light until the alarm goes off in the morning! I know others aren't the same as me though, and do worry about the inevitable. n my view - no point in worrying - the only sure certainty in life is that we're all going to die someday! Why stress about it?

Yes you are correct, nowdays many people are facing such problems due to the fear of the uncertainty. It is one of their day to day problem to involve in such types of security for such problems.

Hi punlonnjack, Thanks for commenting. I've seen what worry can do to people, and I'm not going to say get over it, I know it's not that easy. If your health is suffering, see a doctor. Other than that try to take life one day at a time. Blessings.

I believe I came to grips with my mortality when I was with my Pop for his last few months. I will die. There isn't a thing anywhere that will stop it. If I choose to freak out about it, my last years will be nothing but worry and turmoil. I could have a stroke! I could get cancer! I could get hit by a bus! I could have a meteorite land on me! I don't know when, and I don't know how, but I will die! Money can't save me from it. Prayer won't save me from it. Fear will not keep it away.
