Maybe since it's now September and kids are going back to school, it made me reflective of my days as a young kid and was wondering. When you were a kid, say in the elementary stage level, did you look forward to school? I guess this shows you what a geek I was, cause I loved it...Couldn't wait to go, maybe cause I loved learning. The biggest thrill I remember was stocking up on all those school supplies. Remember those black and white covered Composition books, getting all those pens and pencils...and my greatest joy...getting that brand new box of 64 Crayola crayons. So how about you? Did you love the idea of going back to school, or were you a bit grumpy that summer had ended?

I was always eager to get back to school myself, pyewacket. There was just something about getting down to the business of learning that appealed to me. I always made very good grades, so school was not painful to me as it was with some of the kids who struggled. Yeah, all the new school supplies were pretty cool. We used the circumference, protractor, rulers, and the new selection of pens were always my favorites. I remember in high school we always took our tests from a little blue book that was aptly called "the blue book."(: I still bought crayons until a couple of years ago because I have always loved to color. I would keep a supply of them for the grandkids to use when they visited. I also kept huge stacks of coloring books-the big, thick ones to keep them occupied.

I Still buy the coloring books all kinds and lots of crayons and paints. They are very good when stress is just to high and my grand daughter is becoming quit and artist. We didn't get blue book until college.

Hehe...for some reason, long, long after I had graduated college I would have reoccurring dreams that I had missed an important math test and class...weird no?

Despite school being a nightmare for me, I actually loved it when school would start back up after summer break. I loved learning new things, and when going to school there was always a wealth of something new to learn everyday. Although I loved it back than, there is nothing in this world that could get me to do it all over again.

I really can't remember if I was excited or disappointed... guess it didn't matter that much to me. I enjoyed school, but I also enjoyed being free all summer.

the thing I remember most about school starting was the scent of new saddle shoes and the feel of a new fall dress usually in a fall plaid and ruffled socks and the feel of the hot sun as I walked home and the taste of a chocolot soda a piece of cold fudge when I got home.

As a kid I never looked forward to school, I hated school especially getting up so early in the morning to go to school.

oh I loved going back to school!! I remember I would never be able to fall asleep the night before. I would be up all night just thinking about it. I loved getting the new clothes and school supplies. You had to have the coolest pens and folders and book covers. Too bad when I got to highschool I hated it.

I liked going back to school too. It was a nice change of pace and I got to see my friends regularly again. I don't know that I much liked the learning part THEN at least but I did like going to school. Though I wouldn't say I loved it LOL.

I loved going to school at least the work part. I didn't do too well with the other kids b/c I was considered a bookworm. But I loved doing the schoolwork. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Hey it's ok to be a geek, ya know?! lol I wasn't ever ready to go back to school for I loved the freedom that I had during the summer however I can say I did get bored a lot though but the part of getting up so early is one of the big things I wasn't a fan of even to this day. lol

I use to love starting school. My favorite things were shopping for new supplies and then getting to write my name on it and get my books together. I couldn't wait to write on the new paper.

Yes, there are a lot of times I was looking for school days. But there were also days where I wished there was no school at all. It depends on many reasons. Occasions, weather conditions, loads or assignments, projects or researches, broken hearted (lol), and so on and so forth.

I really enjoyed the first day of school each year. I liked dressing nicely, seeing my friends, meeting my teacher, all my new supplies, etc. It was the second day of school that was not so great.

I enjoyed the end of summer for only 1 reason- I could see more friends in school than out of school. But as far as the learning process- I didn’t want to go back to learn- just to socialize! That’s all! Until I became older- then learning was ok- I strived to do my best- so it was tough!

You know actually as a kid I did look forward to school starting back. Because by the time the summer was over and it lasted longer when I was a kid too than it does now, but I was ready to see my school friends again and all the new composition books and crayons and new school clothes, it was just sort of exciting to me. Of course, the new wore off after the 1st week, then the homework and getting up early and going to be early got old fast. Great topic.

No i was not very enthusuastic to going to school specilly after vacation, not at all. My parents used to force me to go to chool, even my dad used to drop me to school. You revived those old golden memories with your questions. But yeah..there was a charm and enthussiam about meeting with friends again after a long gap.

No, i did not look forward to school when i was a child. I used to enjoy my summer vacation thoroughly and was never satisfied with the number of vacational holidays. I was grumpy then as you said, all because i had to bear the same burden back again, they are all sweet memories now. We used to play a lot of cricket in the summer and school reopening was always displeasing for me since we knew it will end our cricket fun. beautiful discussion:)
