How Often Do You Change Your Glasses?

I wear glasses and I heard that it's best to check the eyes and get the glasses changed every year. I don't do that though. I usually get my eyes checked around 2-3 years and I only change my glasses when I need to. My last pair was 10-year old *smiles*.

I am just like you! Although 5 years is usually my upper limit, I do not get tested until there is a noticeable change in vision. Being somewhat frugal, too, although I choose the nicest frames I can find, I buy those on eBay and only pay the optometrist for the lenses and "installation."

I had mine for 10 years and one of my buddies thought I needed to change my glasses (for good) *laughs* and he gave me a new pair as a birthday present (how nice of him). He picked a really nice frame and I think I am going to wear this for another 10 years *laughs*.

Go for it! There are much better things to spend money on anyway, but my main reason is that I don't like having to go through the hassle of ordering and then waiting for the new ones, and then having to get used to them all over again each time. My motto is, "If it isn't broken, don't fix it!"

When I had glasses, I got my eyes checked every year and changed my glasses each time. You really should get your eyes checked every year for their health. If you ever have an infection or a disease, such as glaucoma, you'll want it caught early. If your eyes do change, you can still keep the same frames. You just need the lense part changed to your new prescription. Now, I have contacts and I still get my eyes checked every year.

It's importnat to get your eyes checked and make sure you have the right kind of glasses so that you see properly. This is especially important for driving, because obviously you want to see well if you're driving so you don't endanger your life or anyone else's.

Right I get my eyes checked but sometimes when the difference is not really big, I don't want to change my glasses *laughs*.

Hello wondericequeen, Aren't you busy 'tutoring' your successor today? *smiles* I don't wear glasses and I think I am lucky as I always have unbalanced diet and yet, I don't have problem with my eyes till now. Why don't you change to contact lenses?

Can't wear contact lens as my eyes are too dry and they really bothered me when I work long hours in front of the monitor. I am comfy with glasses *smiles*. Well, this afternoon, I will be busy, but busy in the sense of interviewing people. My boss don't want me to have time at all and I am not sure if I could really teach my successor today!

I usually get my eyes checked atleast once every 2 years. When I was younger, my prescription for glasses changed every year, so it was important for me to go that often as to not be wearing the wrong glasses suited for my eyes.

I seldom change my glasses. I don't want to check my eyesight to know it gets worse:) As long as I can see things, that'll be fine for me:)

How often depends on a lot of things. You are healthy and young. So I went every 2 or 3 years, too. Then I got older and went every year. The stigmatism in my eyes kept changing. My basic vision seemed to be the same, but not that. Now I have Occular Rosacea, so I go often. When I had flare-ups, my eyes were getting checked every 3 to 6 months. I also got graphite in my eyes once and an inmate where I worked created a chemical cloud that created surface burns to my eyes. So I was like you when I was young like you, but health conditions change. My brother goes every 3 months because he has insulin-dependent diabetes type 1 and diabetic blindness does happen to some people in my family who had diabetes young. High Blood Pressure also is in my family, so once a person gets that, they go more often. My Doctors don't change my glasses every year, only when needed, although I scratch them up so badly that I could probably do with more often. So watch your overall health and see what your eye doctor thinks. Mine was fine with my going every few years after I stopped growing and before I had health problems. Take care

I only change my glasses when it is broken. Usually my eyeglasses retires after two years or more. I don't think I have to keep on changing my glasses when my grade doesn't change. No problem with contact lenses because I often change them to avoid eye irritation.

I'm wearing glasses too. The last time I changed my glasses was two years ago. I like to change my glasses to keep up date the model that I wear. But Think I need to get another check soon, since it's already two years ago. I hope I can do it as soon as possible.

I cannot remember when I have changed my glasses. I guess it was in the year 2004. Before I used to wear contact lenses but I was so lazy enough to clean those daily, I even wore those when asleep. It is much better for me to wear glasses. I have two glasses, one has a higher grade while the other one I am using right now is lower. I had my first glasses when I was 12 years old.
