Most Important Meal

I have always heard it said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I don't really know how true this is because I have come to the conclusion that many old sayings have no basis in fact. I think that eating a good breakfast slows me down. You know the feeling when you get a bit too relaxed following a meal. I always eat a couple of bites of something since I take medication that requires it, but I think that I could do without breakfast entirely as long as I have my coffee. A really good breakfast once or twice a month is sufficient for me. What about you?

hey, whether it is important to have a meal in the morning dependes on everyone.all are not suitable to have breakfast when others have breakfast.do you think so.people having the stomacle amost is likely to have some food but cafe..some don't have breakfast because they have no time or they don't want to eat.our parents used to ask us to eat a meal in the morning.they think that it is good for us to grow stronger.but they didn't have ideas in their minds that it is healthy not have meal in the morning.why they think so is based their parents done. of course, people have the right to eat breakfast or not.do you agree with me.welcome to have a talk with us.

It does depend upon the temperament of each individual, buliang, whether they choose to have breakfast or not. I do think it is better to have than not though.

Even I am finding you correct upto hundred percent..!! Earlier even I belived that Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. As because of that 8 hours gap in the night sleep we need a good breakfast as hour body metabolism works at its best at the night when we are sleeping, so to fill up all that we surely need a good and heavy breakfast..!! But not at the cost of a lazy morning because of that heavy breakfast and ruining whloe of our day..!! Actually the fact is human should eat something after every 4 hours in a day!! No matter if it includes mid night snacks too!! this keeps us active, filled, and healthy!! Having snacks every after 4 hours also supports a good digetsion and many more good things....It also prevents you from Over eating!!! So have a little meal after every 4 hours break and STAY HEALTHY!!! :)

That is very good advice, stella, and it is the normal practice that I try to follow. The only time I ever have a huge breakfast is once or twice a month.

I feel tired if I don't have breakfast every day. I loose my energy to work the whole day and evening. Breakfast is good for fast digesting. We don't need much food in the evening because we go to bed. Who has breakfast every day will feel stronger at work.

Of course, you are right, phon4u. Breakfast is the fuel that we need to start our day off right.

Full English Breakfast - traditional English breakfast.
I don't like a lot for breakfast I usually just have toast a bowl of cereal or a piece of fruit. Breakfast is important as it helps you concentrate and stops you eating junk half way through the morning. the Traditional "Full English Breakfast" is a bit much for me I usually et it it as a combination of breakfast and lunch.

It is true that the most important meal is the breakfast. However, I just eat simple foods for the breakfast because I don't have enough time to prepare for it and finish it. So it seems the dinner is the most important meal for us. Because my family will get together at night to have a dinner. It is the most happy time.

Yes, youless, I think that many of us will just grab whatever is available for breakfast. People don't want to take the time to make a regular breakfast so much anymore.

Good for you, huntbird. I don't find anything wrong with having lunch as your first meal of the day, however.

I think breakfast is important because otherwise you're going around on an empty stomach - you haven't eaten all night. But because you haven't eaten all night, a heavy meal will just slow you down. I like to have something light. Maybe yoghurt, fruit, or toast. Sometimes cereal.

I always wished that I could learn to like yoghurt, cute, but it just doesn't work for me. I agree that a light breakfast is much more healthful than a heavy one.

Now that I am exercising ever morning after I walk my son to the bus stop, I make sure I have a good breakfast afterwards. I do feel better and not so tired by the afternoon when I have had breakfast that morning. When I don't and just drink coffee, I am very lethargic by the afternoon and often nap too.

Well, my days are usually pretty boring, maddysmommy. Maybe I should get out of the house more often and burn off some of the calories, lol. There is a lot to be said for having a good breakfast, though.

I can't do without breakfast but I only eat a small bowl of cereal and coffee. I think you are right if I eat too much for breakfast it has a tendency to slow me down.

I have always loved cereal, naty, but I find the older I get the more lactose intolerant I become. I can have dairy products occasionally, but not too often.

The only reason I really eat anything in the morning now is because I have a lot of medication to take and I really do need to eat something before I take it! I think breakfast is most important because you are literally breaking a fast and are supposed to eat something to keep your metabolism up and to stop your blood sugar from getting too low! xxxx

That's right, mummymo, and it does hold true in most cases, however, I am usually up for most of the night. Sometimes I will have a light snack around midnight.

Since I have a blood sugar problem (low) I have to eat a breakfast everyday...nothing too grandiose, some scrambled eggs (no yolk) and two slices of toast with my coffee...If I want a really large breakfast, I prefer it as a dinner meal, so I can have pancakes, sausages or bacon, eggs and cinnamon toast But oh, yes I do know that feeling of a too big meal, the kind that makes one groggy, if say one over-indulges on a too big Thanksgiving dinner--I've since learned my lesson NEVER to eat too much at a meal

I was saying that very thing to a friend last night, pyewacket. She was remarking on the fact that I don't eat all day, so I told her that I cannot tolerate a huge meal and only eat until I feel full. I used to get lots of tummy aches from overeating when I was young. Let me tell you it is a really uncomfortable feeling! For several years now I only eat two or three small meals each day.

For me breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If I don't have at least a peice of fruit and a glass of milk when I get up, my day somehow doesn't go right for me. It throws off my whole meal schedule and I tend to overeat because of this (which is not a good thing as I am trying to lose my pregnancy weight).

I don't have the best eating habits, laurika, since I often will grab something that is left over from the night before. I will just have to keep working on it though.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Your body runs more on breakfast than any other meal. If a perso n is wanting to lose weight then breakfast is the one meal to load up on. Of course it should be s sencible meal. Fruits and grains make for a healthy breakfst. If you eat meats they are what slow you down. One should eat like a king in the morning a queen at noon and a pauper at night. The pauper at night is to give your stomach a chance to reat. it needs reast as well as the rest of your body does. Since most people are active during the day those breakfast calories will be burned up before the day is over.

I tend to eat a 'proper' breakfast these days (bacon and eggs or omelette, or a couple of crumpets and always 2 cups of coffee.. But I find it just makes me hungrier and more tired a couple of hours later. I used to just have this sort of breakfast on the weekends, and before that only when I went camping. I might try and reduce it a little for a while and see what happens.

I almost always eat a wholesome breakfast every morning. I make it a point, however, to avoid sugary foods in the morning (e.g., doughnuts, croissants, processed cereals, etc.). Sugary foods are digested quickly and tend to leave me feeling hungry again within an hour or two. Sugar-free whole grains, fresh fruit, and soy milk or low-fat milk (my typical breakfast, essentially), on the other hand, are digested slowly and keep me sated until lunchtime. I eat just enough in the morning to get me going, but not so much that I feel lethargic.

Because of my crazy sleeping habits, I go to bed when lots of people are eating breakfast. I usually have a snack around midnight - something light. I don't even eat a meal again until afternoon, usually fairly late in the afternoon. I really don't feel like eating when I first open my eyes. I usually have tea or iced tea and then eventually have a small lunch and then dinner later in the night. It sounds crazy but, the way I work and the hours I keep, it works for me. My weight is good and I don't feel hungry. I always believed that people should eat only if they are hungry and not because the clock says it's "time" so I go by that and it works out for me. I know I am not typical though with my late hours.
