Passion or Duty?

In a time of war, which one whould you choose: Passion or Duty? If say, you are a doctor, a nurse or someone who works in the medical / health profession, your duty and perhaps your passion are the same - to maintain the health of the public and help cure their illnesses. At the time of war, you'll do the same thing. The question is, how about for those whose passion / work is not directly involved with the war. Would you be ready to give up your job for a greater cause? I am. Well, I don't have a profession yet, I am still applying for university but more or less, I am going to work in the field of finance. I don't really think it would be of value during a war so I am more than willing to give it up and dedicate my service to where it is more needed. Like perhaps, nurse the wounds of the wounded soldiers, those kind of stuffs. How about you - Passion or Duty?

As I am 49 years of age, I would be unlikely to gain paid employment if there was a war. As my career is a primary school teacher that also would not be useful. However, I am multi skilled, & I am sure there would be voluntary service fort me. If our country was directly threatened by war, I would without hestitation, volunteerr in any capacity.

I always tend to respond spontaneously at crisis situations. I have found that I can quickly abandon what I am doing if circumstances request that I do. As a Zen practitioner I rarely live with "what ifs" and when I see people getting stressed about "what if this happens" or what if that happens" - I tend to say that there is only now. Take care of the moment.. :-)
