Is the glass half empty or half full? Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

I always try to think positive and look at the bright side of things. My glass is always half full! I know someone who is such a pessimist and it drives me crazy. This person is always thinking and saying things that are so negative. I try telling them to think positive and hope for the best. But they still are so pessimistic. What about you? Are you optimistic or pessimistic?

Yep, the glass is half full for me, also. I always look for the silver lining in most situations. I can't stand negativity, although I am sure that I am negative some of the time, that's just human nature, but most of the time I do try to look at the bright side of most situations. If you look really hard, there usually is something positive in most situations. Positive mental attitude can go a long way in making a person happy and optimistic. I try to avoid pessimistic people, hard sometimes, I know since my mother is one. She can find negativity in almost anything. I try to limit my contact with her, sad I know, but it is just too annoying to listen to people like this talk.

Yep my mom is the one I am talking about here (I didn't want to put it in the discussion) I am also neg some of the time.....but like you I try to look for q silver lining in every situation. For example my mom and I planned on going to Home Depot today to pick up a few small items and she thought maybe the stuff we were going to buy wouldn't fit into the ca and she just about talked me out of going to get the items!!!!!!!!!! and we almost didn't go because of her pessimistic out look!!!!!!

OVERFLOWIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNG he he he...OK, I cheated then. I try to be an optimist as best as I can. Of course when I'm down, sometimes I see the glass half empty, but then I won't let myself think that way too long. Life's MUCH better when you're optimistic. ;-D And I intend to enjoy every little thing that comes my way and count my blessings instead of what I can't or don't have. :-D

i'm not always optimistic. i know that i have to bt sometimes i really cant..being optimistic is one way of living your life to the fullest. thinking that all things will be alright and that all things happen for a reason (& we should never freak out if something goes wrong because God intended it to be that way ... ) and all those things will come to pass are sure ways to live happily. and also, when you think positively, all will just fall into place. universe will conspire with you. if you'll think you're really gonna be late for that meeting, you will really be late. you'll be stuck up in traffic or get your car tires busted or worse...so yeah, i should not let any negative thoughts enter my mind..hehe

Your question remind me of a friend who always answered this statement with the glass is half-filled, because she claims she is a realist. I think that answer is pretty cute, and actually accurate. But to answer your question, I like to think its half-full. I believe in creating positive energy and the power of our thoughts. Believing that things will be better is a better attitude than taking the doomday-and-hellfire approach in life. It will also make you better company among friends. I for one shun people whose energies are negative because they drain me badly. So, I guess, there is no harm in being an optimist in this world of ours.

Of course half full. I'm very optimist, I can say so optimist. Everything I always think the good way will come to me! I don't like to think the bad results, if the bad results has come to me I think this is the first step to get double success. It likes you back one step to forward two steps. If someone is pessimist I will talk all the good thing may happen to make them feel better even I don't know ut will be better or not but at least their feeling better. When you are feel better you will do thing better!

I agree but it is difficult for some people to have a good outlook, For many years I was the most negative person in the world, I could bring down an entire room with my gloom and doom thinking. I was very fortunate that I was able to turn things around and now I am grateful for each and every day I have and look forward to the next moment while savoring this moment. my secret for this is a simple saying Do not worry about what might have been, do not think about what might be, live for the here and now.

I'm not blindly optimistic as bad things do happen and it's good to be prepared but I try to look on the bright side and appreciate what I have got rather than worry about what I haven't.
