No, I don't believe that Dracula really exists. He was a fictional character based on Vlad The Impaler, of Rumania... a brutal man. Bram Stoker dreamed up the Dracula stories and they were fictional.
But.... having said that, I'm not so sure that vampyres don't exist. I just think they're slightly different to Dracula.

Oh absolutely they do....but again not in the "Hollywood" sense..My niece is Vampyre (Sanguinarian to be more precise)...and of course there is an entire Vamp culture (which much like anything that is "alternative" is HIGHLY misunderstood) but keep in mind that the Vamp Culture i'm speaking of IS NOT a bunch of teens dressed in black claiming this that and the other (which IMO is WHY so many alternative things ARE misunderstood :-/)

Yes, I've read stories about Vampyres who still exist in Europe mainly. I think Emo is an entirely different cult... not vaguely associated with vampyres... apart from the colours black and red. lol.
I'm quite interested in this subject, which is why I responded in the first place. :) Thank you for sharing your information.

You mean Dracula in the sense of a blood sucking vampire type? No not at all...but "Dracula" was a real person...He was a Romanian prince, Vlad (the Impaler) Tepes....Very interesting person to say the least...he is also the real person that the fictional Dracula was modeled after...

Prince Vlad/the real Dracula is real doesnt seem scary to me at all...Even though he was a twisted individual..but I can think of ppl in history who were FAR MORE twisted than that like Marquis de Sade..he was a sick sick individual....
Mind you the fictional Dracula wouldnt scare me either but I'm just odd like that LOL

As the king of vampire no 9though i would like that he was, I'm a vampire lover:P) but the true historical "Dracula" truly existed. It's about The Impaler Vlad Dracul called as Vlad Tepes in my country(the Impaler) because he punished his enemies by impaling sharp staffs throw their body, ghastly I know. Since then many legends came out that he drank the blood of the innocents and that he was allied with the devil. Then a British writer used these legend and the true story of Vlad Dracul as important sources to creat the legendary vampire King Count Dracula.

Dracula did exist, its a historical fact. The word "Dracula" or "Dracul" actually means "Son of the Dragon" which was the symbol of the house of Tepes.

Well, in India, we get to hear so many imaginary stories. There are people who belive it and take things seriously. But im not of that kind ;)
I take them as stories meant for entertainment and fun... and sometimes to scare ppl around u LoL.

Yep, Ravenlady and Darkwing are correct. Trust me, Ravenlady knows what's she's talking about. Count Drac did exist and he was scary wicked to the bone. He didn't like people much but he loved to impale them. Wonder if he drank their blood. Brrrr, that's just evil. I believe his castle is on the market. It doesn't look so daunting and frightful anymore. Actually I would buy it if I had that kind of cash lying around. Have a blessed Monday.

I don't think so. It is just created by Bram stoker through his literary writings and imaginations particularly his book "Dracula" . Since then, some people would believe that it really is true and some would even adopt and pretend that they are dracula's or whatever.. But it definitely is just a work of a person's imagination. There's no truth behind it,. its not real, it doesn't exist.

The character or the person that dracula was based on did exist as someone already said. He was a terible person that sucked blood not in the way that it is portraid (the red tipe of blood) but he was cruel and twisted person.
