Have you ever tried Jiffy pop? You know the one that you pop on the stove top. I have tried it in my life time but not lately. My son asked me to get some the next time I go to the store. I just laughed and asked him where he heard of it. He told me his teacher was telling them about it. So I guess I will be trying to find some for him to try.

I haven't bought any for many years. back in the 70's when I used to make it the handle would get VERY hot as you moved it around the burner. Hopefully they use a different material for the handles now days. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Just recently we were at a family reunion. Everyone was talking about not having a microwave because we were at a campground. I said, why dont we get some jiffy pop. But we couldn't find any. I did see it the other day in my grocery store, so they must still have a need to sell it. I started buying reg popcorn to make on the stove vs microwave . its cheaper and figured not as much waste? who knows.

When I was growing up we had Jiffy Pop a lot but as an adult I never bought it until we were at an auction a couple years ago and I bought a case. We use it mainly for camping trips; cooks up nicely on our butane burner camp stove. At home the kids generally just make microwave popcorn.

I still buy jiffy pop sometimes, for the nostalgia. Sometimes it makes a movie seem more special with jiffy pop rather than microwave popcorn.

Hey Lifez, You know, I dont see that any more. I saw a few other people say that too on here. I have used it, I dont recall it working so well, so maybe thats why it seems scarce in the grocery stores. I love popcorn though, and eat it quite a bit. I like it off the stove top, but lately I have been buying it for the microwave. Its just a bit quicker and the brand I like to buy is really buttery, just how I like it. Cousin Willies or something like that lol I like putting some Lawrys Season Salt on it, really adds a bit of flavor to it. If I want something sweet, I will put some sugar over it with a wee bit of regular salt. Did you know that the first popcorn was introduced to the Pilgrams by the Indians? They would pop the corn right on the cob still wrapped in the husks. The Pilgrams thought to add milk to this, thus creating the first cereal! I watch a lot of The Food Network! lol Bay Lay Gray xx

That is funny, my son just seen it at Kroger last month and asked me to buy it. He wanted to know what it tasted like and if it worked good. It does turn out nice.

You should be able to still buy it at the stores, I like the Jiffy Pop and the kids love to watch it swell up when it pops, but I do like microwave pop corn better and it is faster. Good luck in the hunt for it, it should not be hard to find. Love the new avatar for Halloween. Hugs!

We had it when I was a teenager, and it was not successful. Usually what we used to do was to fill a pot with popcorn, and a little oil, put a lid on it and shake it over the gas. I later tried it in my twenties, and I was a little better at making it. I was rather glad when they invented the microwave and microwave popcorn, although it did leave a lot of hard kernels.

Wow, do they still make that? When I was a kid we had a popcorn maker that you put oil and kernals in and made it that way. Then someone came up with jiffy pop. Now I usually make microwave popcorn so I had forgotten about jiffy pop.Funny.

I used to love making jiffy pop when I was a kid. We still take it camping with us and pop it over the campfire. The kids love watching it puff up. It tastes pretty good too.

I have never tried it, but I have seen it. My son is a little popcorn freak. I used to buy him microwave popcorn, but now I buy the loose stuff. I make it one of three different ways. 1. stove top with a little oil-my personal favorite 2. air popped 3. loose popcorn, brown paper lunch bag, a piece of tape, and a microwave. The last one is pretty cool. You put like 1/4 cup of loose popcorn in the bag, and tape it shut. Place in the microwave and pop until there is a few seconds between pops. Butter and season right in the bag. It is like microwave popcorn but cheaper.
