Normal and Natural.

Have you noticed how some people use those two words, as though they meant the same thing? What is the difference anyway? The way I see things, people decide what is normal. It depends of course on culture, where you life in the world, type of government, religion etc. Natural on the other hand, is what happens when we don't interfere, with nature. Many things that were considered normal two hundred years ago, would not be normal today. The apple however, still falls from the tree today, as it did in Sir Isaac Newtons time. That is natural. Blessings.

They are not, and to be quite honest, there really is no such thing as normal.

I'm with ya on this one. Nature, i.e. genetics, to be born with, to grow that way. Normal, i.e. scares the hell outta me.

I think I use the word "normal" for many things and even use it to refer to people. When I say somebody is "normal" I mean it like a compliment and what I am trying to say is that the person is natural, without any pretence, easy to get along with, easy to figure out, nice to be with! As far as I am concerned, those who are not normal are the difficult ones, usually having delusions of grandeur because of their looks or their possessions.

Those are some very valid points my friend. Natural is the very force of nature - the changing of the seasons, the love of a Mother for her child etc. Whereas "normal" means different things to different people depending on where and when they live. For instance, a few hundred years ago here in England, it was quite "normal to send 8 year old boys up chimneys to be chimney sweeps, women didnlt have the vote, and people were hanged for stealing a loaf of bread. Those things would never be "normal" here now - I am so glad to say!

Hi rosie, I'm glad it isn't normal anymore either. There are a few other things, that I hope won't be normal is another few years. War is one of them. Blessings.

Sometimes being natural is just not normal... 'normal' would seem to me to be following a set of rules so that a person could blend in with the current way of thinking. Natural simply IS. Good jump-start for my brain this a.m.... thanks!
