How would you handle the paparazzi?

Being a star these days means being followed around by tens of people with big cameras right in your face trying to get a shot of you. There are always stories of famous people lashing out at photographers and breaking their cameras or even assaulting them. This seems extreme but have you ever seen entertainment shows where they actually show what it's like when a star's being harassed by paparazzi? They are so immature and just nag at the stars, and say really stupid things to get them riled up in the hope that they'll score a 'winning' shot of the star lashing out or getting angry. My question is, if you were in this situation and a photographer was really getting on your nerves and saying nasty things to try to get you angry, how would you react? Obviously the best thing to do is to keep quiet and not say anything, not acknowledge them and keep walking but I think I would struggle with that. Surely after a couple of years of the harassment and having people constantly in your face wherever you go would get on your nerves so I think I would lose it eventually and lash out. How about you?

Some of these stars & media personalities carry on like pork chops when they are being pursued by the paparazzi. I am sure this only inflames them, & is more likely tocause them to be pursued. I think being polite, but very firm with the paparazzi is the onky way to go. If this doesn't work, issing a cpourt order would probably stop the paparazzi in their tracks.

The thing that aggravates me about the paparazzi and the stars is that they bug them on their time off and living their daily lives as one should be able to without being hoarded by a bunch of idiots who are trying to make a buck off a "good shot" So what these people were on tv doing their thing whether it be a tv program or on stage singing, that's the life they choose. If they didn't perform then what would we have to see on tv? Nothing. They're just normal people with a job. A good job at that. So what? They're not the actual people in the parts that they play and/or a person can sing. Leave them alone and let them live their lives as they should be able to. So yes I'd eventually lose my patients with these idiots and lash out. A person can only take so much before they lose it.

Well I think celebrities although they don't like this side of things know about it before they go into that business, in fact they rely on those very pests to keep their photos in the magazines, as the celebrities are getting paid so much money and they do I guess there has to be a down side and that is it, they need those pics to keep them popular, maybe they should do what the Queen has been doing tha last few years, make a deal with them, give them some time to take their photos then leave them alone, I think if I was in that position and needed them to keep me popular I would keep on good terms with them, which some stars are. play a role of putting on a happy face as hard as it would be and remember they really are keeping my celebritism alive and either accept that or give up the fame...

Well if you became famous that is just one of the down sides to the situation but in order to be famous you need to stay in the publics eye after all without these people then you wouldn't be famous. I know sometimes they go over board but again this is the price of being famous sadly. If you want your life to stay private then don't be famous easy as that I guess.

I think that when one accepts employment as a highly paid public figure of whatever kind, one needs to understand that quite a bit of individual privacy is forfeited. If the photographers break the law, then I would not hesitate to file charges, but if they are just aggressively doing their jobs, I would probably try to work with them instead of against them. There are drawbacks to every job, and why should the people who earn the most not have inconveniences just like everyone else? Yes, I have seen some of the videos, but I have also seen stars being drunk and disorderly. It goes both ways.

That's interesting. Well I would hope that I wouldn't ever be a star that gets mobbed by the paparazzi (examples: prince william, britney spears) ... but more that the paparazzi may just see not doing anything interesting so they wouldn't feel the need to obsessively stalk me. There are plenty of people you rarely seen in those magazines, that's who I'd like to be. and in that case I'd be polite and pose for photos so that they never use them against me. ha ha.

I think that most people would eventually lash out. The way I see it as long as there is a market for this kind of gossip there will be people put in this situation.

For us who are not Hollywood stars or rich and famous... it seems like the attention of the paparazzis are something to be awed about... but one time i saw how they treated Britney Spears... she just wanted to eat mexican food in a restaurant but they won't leave her alone... next she wanted to buy at a department store... but they kept on hounding her and they even made nasty comments which really made her upset... If i were in a celebritiees position... i think i will wear the same clothes everyday or same jacket... that is what some of them are doing right now... like daniel radcliff... Eventhough it is a part of being rich and famous... i think there should be a law to regulate these paparazzi... they might do harm not only to the celebrities but to themselve as well...

Some stars seem to be able to handle it fairly well, but they are usually the ones who are great people and don't do rediculus things that really attract the paparazzi. One who comes to mind it Jennifer Love Hewitt. You seldom hear of her having run-ins with them and she also stays out of trouble, yet she is very popular and is all over the Internet. I think if I were a star that I first would try not to do stupid things and if they still hounded me, I would call the ones who treated me the best aside and give them great photo opportunities while avoiding the others as much as possible.
