Werewolf myths-Need Opinions.

I recently started watching a new show called Moonlight. In it, the good vampire lays to rest many vampire myths...including; they can not turn into bats, a stake threw the heart won't kill them (only paralyze them), some sunlight won't kill them (they just can't stay in it for long), etc...and it works! It's a good show. Now here's my question...do you, in your own views, think it would be okay for me to make my own things about werewolves. I am trying right now to create a very original werewolf story, and one thing I want to change is the 'silver bullet' "rule." My werewolves would be able to be killed in other ways, they won't be as..."immortal" as many stories percieve them. That sound alright?

Sounds good, and leave the silver bullet, but say "well, of course a silver bullet through the heart will kill me, any bullet through the heart will..."

Yeah, but werewolves are also sometimes human... Of course, IF I were to become a werewolf - and its not something you are born with - then I'd probably find a way to keep from killing when the moon becomes full.

yeah, same with me. I would do a lot of research and crap to find a way that I could keep myself from killing. That'd be the worst part!

Oh! Yeah, lol, that makes sense! =P Of course...it won't actually be the werewolves saying that X.X So it would be 'them' not 'me' hehe. The werewolves are still going to be the vicious beasts in this story! :) But I would like to use that! Thanks! :)

Why not ,writers have to be always original and your idea sounds original, you don't have the follow the same idea that things happened in one way.Writers have to reinvent things.

for me it sounds alright. it's good to know new things even if its fiction. it's good that our imagination will run many sideways for the sake of art. and the feeling of triumph to be able to put an end to the scary and deadly activities of werewolves.

i guess that would be okay for a change. werewolves have had their glory days and yeah, i think its time to change that and put something new and interesting. telling the same thing over and over again makes it a bit boring right? so i guess that would be okay. ^__^ here's a suggestion, how about werewolves can be killed when they are fed spoiled meat?? LOL just kidding. i really dont have any suggestions. im just trying to be funny. ^__^;; if it were about vampires i would have a lot of things to say though. ^__^ *peace*

I say why not. If the writers for the Show Moonlight can do it with vampires why shouldn't you do it with werewolves? I like that new show Moonlight. It is one of my 7 year olds favorite new shows.

Every writer, at least the good ones, changes what they need about the myths. Create a whole new one and go for it. A lot of writers are doing it right now. The old ones are outdated. Revamp it and write! Don't be chained by "what used to be."

lol! That's true :P Well I haven't finished the werewolf story yet; I kind of have a bad habit of working on more than one story at a time lol.

I kinda like the ones that are being portrayed at DarkHunter books by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Werewolves can time travel and only has one mate for life.

There have been some very interesting stories written that have their own myths. I forget the title of the book I read that had a community of them hidden away and they actually had evolved to being more like everyone else except during the full moon, but they kept to themselves on that night, except for the rogue ones that still wanted to get people. So they sent rogue hunters out to get them and stop them before they could bite people. It was interesting, somehow the author wove a love story into it with a surprise ending. Personally, I like shapeshifter stories better. The person changes into whatever creature and has the abilities of that creature. Then the person changes back. I think unless you break out of the stereotypes cast by werewolf genre in the past, you pretty much end up with similar storeis. Always write with your own vision, not someone elses. We want to see, hear and feel what you do. Not what you think we want to see, hear and feel. If that makes any sense. Take care

I am chaning a lot of the stereotype, and the story is really different than anything that's been done ( that I know of!) :) Another thing I want to change about my wolves is that they are ALWAYS wolves, they don't change into humans. You think that'll work? ;P I really like shapeshifters too. They're cool. But I just don't have a story for them right now! :)
