What is wrong with people!? There have been countless stories about children dying in cars. I'm sorry but to me she did this intentionally because this thing happens a few times a year. If you ask me she knew exactly what she was doing. It's not like she didn't have daycare for the child because she did so why didn't she drop the boy off at daycare like she always did!? She was a young mother and probably single but the article didn't say. She probably got stressed about taking care of a baby by herself and wanted a way out and thought oh I'll just tell people it was an accident. BS you know full well you have a baby and you took that baby with you and put it in a car how on earth can you just forget another person is in the car? It's beyond me.

Imagine a 17-month-old child being left alone inside a hot car for seven long hours??? Is it not the common sense that will make you wonder what might happen to a child or don't tell me she has forgotten? No way! Though I prayed to keep my children in safe hands, I still managed not to leave them all alone wherever they may be no matter what.

Even on my worst day I could never forget one of my kids! Although this seems to be a common story I personally see no excuse for it. And her family should have intervened, but I'm sure as they know now hindsight is always 20/20.

I think she couldn't think of any reason to say for the horrofying thing she did... no mother can ever forget her baby... that is an motherly instinct even animals have... maybe she did it on purpose so that she will be free of the responsibility of bringing up a child... i hope she rots in jail for the rest of her life...

Hi Lifez2short! OMG, how could a mother forget her child? I understand that people really have to work hard but even with so much work at hand and so many things in one's mind, I could not understand how could anyone possibly forget a child inside a car? I have heard so many stories like this and it is really sad and tragic for all. Take care and have a nice day.

/double facepalm The frustration just sinks in with this one. I think I'll remain in the double facepalm position for the rest of the night. I just don't get it guys. I know people are acting up and some just don't get it, but why is it really so bad? Why is it like this with the current crop of people and parents!? I don't see how you could forget a kid like that. I certainly don't see why there weren't better precautions on the part of this mom. Tch!!

There is absolutely no excuse for being irresponsible. The mom was old enough to have a child, she's old enough to take care of the child. It's really difficult for me to believe she forgot the child. Our kids were top priority and I never neglected to pick them up from wherever they were or forgot them in a hot car. I can't understand her lack of parenting. Hope she's behind bars for a very long time. Don't have much confidence in the system though and she will be out of jail/prison in no time so she can start a new family all over again possibly repeating the process. Pretty disgusting.

It sounds that she wanted to get rid of her little boy. I cannot understand how she can call herself a mother. Why didn't she let the father take custody or release the little boy for adoption. At least then he would still be alive. I have a five month old granddaughter and no way can I forget her. Forget? That 'mother' did not forget. She intended to forget her little boy.

OMG! That is one bad mother. How could a mother do that to her own child. This world is really full of madness nowadays...

This is sooo sad. Poor baby. I could never ever forget about my child. OMG! The mother is very young too. Too bad she will spend most of her life in prison, and she lost her baby due to stupidness. Very sad

I think this is insane. There is no reason that you need to be leaving your child in the car while you go in and work your shift at work. The first time one of these stories came out it was kind of like, wow, can't believe that. What a terrible mistake. Now its like come on- we have all heard this story in different settings over and over, when will we learn and wake up. Stop leaving children in the car by themselves. Especially babies! There is no point in this. A baby is so small and doesn't get in the way.

OMG....I can't believe people honestly think the story of oh I forgot my baby in the car crap will fly...I for one could never forget about my 17 month old...It makes me really mad to hear how some parents can be so irresponsible or think they are well thought out and intentially did it...I lost a baby stillborn 5 months ago and my heart goes out to that family...I really hope the Mother gets what she deserves she killed her baby in my eyes.

This story happened right in the area that I live in, so I've been hearing a lot of the local talk on this. It is so sad! Unfortunately here in AZ there have been cases like this every year for as long as I can remember. And not just one per year, either, but many! I think the problem is that these women (and sometimes men) are not getting charged with a serious crime in most cases so others get the idea that they can do the same thing and everything will be okay. I hope this lady gets charged with first degree murder!

When I initially heard this story, I felt sorry for her, but, then I got to thinking. I can understand how she got out of the car, but, I can't think how someone could go 7 hours and not think of your child once. So, I thought from the outset that she had done it on purpose as well. She needs some serious psychological help, and of course, lots and lots of prison time.

This is a very sad story. I can imagine that there's some people like this who don't know how to take good care of their loved ones. They will just realized once they lost it...=(
