Have You Ever....

given up on a great discussion here on myLot because there is someone who is always off topic and has to make you personally aware that they just don't get it? It's a great discussion and the host put plenty of good, supporting info in the post. But time after time, someone just continuously misses the point and rattles on about something close or totally irreverent, clueless that they are doing such, and worse yet, trying to correct every one else's on topic response. Has this ever happened to you? How did you handle it?

Boy, have I ever been there, Rguy. Generally, unless someone is being rude, name calling, etc., I will attempt to explain the situation and try to back it up with documentation. Sometimes people still either don't or won't "get it." At that point, if no rudeness is involved, I'll either agree to disagree or leave it alone. So, are you having a troll issue or a sheeple issue?

Like you have to ask! That answer your question, friend? LOL Where there is no rudeness, the excessive ignorance while purporting to be of high intelligence seems to have the same impact on me. I'm not used to it - yet. But like red suggested (how funny - 2 reds here and they don't look a thing alike!), I will try to avoid the trolls! Sounds like a new video game. Wonder if I can copyright that?

Yes, it has happened to all of us. The thing to do is to try and not respond. Notice, I said try. Some people are hard to ignore.

No kiddin', red! It's so very frustrating to have to stop and educate someone who should already be on page. Just ruins the post for me. It's not fair, and yes I know life's not fair. But I just wanna enjoy the discussion. Come on! Please?! WAAAAAAA!!!

I have indeed given up on good discussions, and even left myLot for a while, because of some clueless people who respond in a completely off-topic manner. They were a minority, but still in sufficient number to ruin it for everyone else. Those irrelevant answers seem to have dwinled down for the moment, but I'm sure that we'll get yet another batch of those mindless morons. It's inevitable.

Sorry to hear it got that bad! You're right - it's a minority, but like the one bad apple in the bunch... I find it disheartening to put so much interest into a discussion only to have to give it up before it has run its course. I truly like the mind expansion that I've enjoyed here and always look forward to more interesting or intelligent experiences. But alas, it is true - all good things must come to an end. At least it's temporary. BTW...Welcome back!

Indeed it is! It's a new experience for me and I just don't know what to do with it. Where's that "block sender" key?!
