Time out errors on Mylot..does it happen to you?

Hi everyone.. I am signing off shortly, partly because I won't be here tomorrow because we are traveling to the city...secondly because I've noticed that Mylot has more 'time out errors' lately and I lost a lengthy post with a photo and had to do it over and I am frustrated. Also I am noticing that the time it takes to post and add photos is longer than others. It happened twice last week and I know it is not our server and it is doubtful whether it is our service provider because it only happens here. Just wondered if it is happening to any of you and how often. Makes me wonder if the administration needs to upgrade something...or whether it is just at our end. Just curious..would be interested to hear if it happens to you and how often. Thanks in advance... Raia

Usually my timeouts involve taking too long to get the discussion posted, so when I'm in for a long one, I copy my discussion before posting. I hope you get it figured out. Wish I could be more helpful. Ciao4now, Shannon

Raia!!!!! If I had known you were going to start this discussion I would have saved that section of my comment in our other discussion for this one!!!! Jeez! And since I can't cut and paste yet, it'll just have to suffice for me to say "yes indeed it has happened to me... a few times!" A few very frustrating times!

PS: It has happened so many times that I now type my responses (the ones I expect are going to be lengthy) first in a word doc and then retype it in the little box!

When I am doing a lengthy discussion I will copy it before I send it off to post. That way if it gets hung up I can start over and try to repost. I haven't had this happen too often. It has happened to me though. Just can't remember when. Big huggers to you.

Hello Elusive... Big hugs, love and light to you and yours too! Thanks for your suggestion..someone else mentioned your approach and I am definitely going to implement that! Someone else said that she loads her photo before writing her response and I am going to do that as well. So I am pleased to know I am not the only one..and some great ideas to avoid the aggravation factor when it does. Good hearing from you as always, Raia

yes has hapened to me and by the time I try to post then get a blank page and have to go back and do it again I forget everything I had wrote to begin with and if it happens more than once I end up not posting at all or going back late to do it so I dont think it is on our end. hugs

Oh yes, that is another really good point. The ideas are flowing..your're on a roll and happy with your post...and then it time's out and is gone! I have had it happen twice in a row and like you I just give up on it and sometimes even forget to come back. So no I do not think it is at our end either. David and Aussie are of the same mind...and it might be time for Mylot to upgrade their server...or something! Anything to cut down on the annoyance factor we feel. Thanks for sharing your fricking fracks with me! (smile) Love and hugs...wonderful talking with you! Raia

Hello there my friend, I hope that you're always fine!;) As for the "timeout" errors, that will most probably be a glitch. I'm not sure about those taking a long time in downloading, but I do experience it as well. It could be that this site is upgrading or that the members are all logged in here and active at the same time, those are what I have observed and experienced from the past after being a member here for a long time now as these happens once in a while!;) Goodluck on your trip to the city, drive safe and God bless.

Hello perspectives. I have also experienced many times of the same case, which is very annoying. I posted a response and it was very slow and then it said that server could not be found. I know that it is not the problem of my connection, but the problem of Mylot, because all the other sites could always open so easily without waiting for so long and got our time wasted after posting a discussion or response. I hope that Mylot would do something to make offer us Mylotters a fast speed while mylotting. You see, while I am responding to this discussion of yours, the same case is happening again to another post, saying that the server is not found, so annoying. By the way, have a good trip to the city and have fun.

Thanks for your well wishes...we had a safe trip although it was a cold one! The thermostat on the heater needs to be replaced and we were already on the road before we found out...BRRRRRRR! Thankfully we had blankets and things worked out OK. I appreciate hearing of your experiences with your 'time outs.' They are really annoying. Hopefully Mylot will upgrade things enough to help reduce the aggravation quotient for all of us. Cheers, Raia

Hello Perspectives, This happens to me fairly regularly. I've noticed it with particular frequency just about the time the earnings update each day. MyLot loads more slowly than any of the sites I regularly visit. So, I guess I've gotten used to it. I've learned (the hard way) to load images before any text. Then, if it's a long post or reply, I composed it in Word, then copy it into MyLot. Unfortunately, this option is not available to folks with fewer than 500 posts. I used to find that particularly annoying. As an aside, Hubby won't even log on to MyLot anymore because of how slow it is, and because of the time-outs. So, it's not just happening to you. I really enjoy this community, so I perceive it as a fairly insignificant sacrifice. Of course, before figuring out to load images first, and copying long text, it used to drive me bananas!

Hi again... Your input and experiences are greatly appreciated. Part of the reason I wanted to post this discussion was to hear whether it was happening to others. Knowing that it is does re-frame things for me and I agree with your view about loving this community and being willing to put up with it anyway. I am here less now...so I value the time I have with valued Cyberspace friends. Your idea of loading images first is a great idea. Another member suggested cutting and pasting a long post in Mylot into Word before hitting the post/preview comment. With that and the one you have made about loading the image first I think the aggravation quotient will be dramatically reduced. Thanks for another great addition! Best regards, Raia

I have often experience losing my work or responding to a post here in mylot usually, as observed when I take a long time in writing, then when I finally press preview response, yikes, what I have just written is gone and I see this page telling me to log in. And when I log in, it's a fresh, blank box. Aargh! I know the feeling of frustration especially when I had thought out a very long response, poured my real effort and then pfffttt, gone. But all these things happen, at least for me, when I take a long time before hitting the response button. I don't know if the others have experienced and observed it this way. But, I am sure it is not my internet provider. It is definitely with mylot. Someone told me it is in mylot cookie. I really don't know. I have also posted something like this before and I still can't figure it out. But, I have something that helped me somehow, which was to copy the entire response before hitting the response button and then paste it to my file. The only problem is, I have to copy and retype because I still haven't reached 500 posts yet. So, I know the feeling, it is really frustrating.

Hello again.. Thanks for letting me know that I am not the only one this is happening with. Your idea of cutting and pasting before hitting send is a good idea and one I have never considered. That is something I am going to implement on those long, thoughtful, heart to heart responses I know you do as well. Whatever it is we all seem to be in agreement that it creates a HUGE ARRGGGG FACTOR. From the responses I am seeing here it has to be Mylot...because it doesn't happen that often anywhere else. Well take heart...you are only 52 credits away from finally being able to cut and paste and then you can put your own idea into practice and that should cut down on the fricking fracking for both of us. Great input...take care and my thoughts, love and well wishes are with you! Raia

It was probably about the same time you posted this that I was having the same problem but it's been fine since then. Maybe they were doing some site maintenance or something like that. I know some companies do that now and then. It sure is frustrating, especially when you're in the middle of something and have to start all over again. Annie

Yep...I bet you are right if it happened to you around the same time. The good thing about this discussion is that members posted some excellent ideas as to how to avoid it. The simplest one is to just hi lite the content and then copy it before hitting the 'post comment.' Duh...such an easy solution! So now that is what I do and from now on in won't matter if it times out or not. YEAH!!!!! Someone also said they post the photo before doing the response that way if it disappears there is less work involved in a do over. So once again the community pulls together and assists each other...what a great sharing circle we have here! Take care...chat soon! Raia

Hi Raia, I have noticed it taking a long time to advance and stuff, I havent been getting any time out errors though. I really just thought it was my PC and I needed to do a spyware check on it or something. Its doing pretty good today, its been off for the last 2 days though so maybe it just needed a break. LOL Hope yours is doing better for you. Its pretty frustrating when you have to wait on something that usually goes along just fine. Bay Lay Gray xx
