Well as most my friends here on myLot know my wife is going to Michigan soon to be a bone marrow donor for her brother to hopefully give him a new lease on life from his luekemia riddled body. Now she is going to be gone for a total of at least 10 days from me & the house. We have never been apart from each other for more than 3 days in all our 35 years together. It's rough on us both as we have both mentioned it will be hard to be apart this long. I can not go as someone needs to be with dad nearly 24 hours a day and I nor dad are willing to pay almost $300 a day for a live in care specialist. So I am at a loss as to how this will go mentally and emotionally for me while she is gone. This is just more stress added to my plate wondering how things are going but not actually being there. I am sure I'll get a call daily from her but still.. Have you ever been seperated for a week or more from your spouse for other than business? Have you been apart due to a medical situation such as this? If theres anyone that's gone through this same ordeal please respond. Thanks all. Guess I am going to be a lonely old man for a couple weeks almost. Hahahahaha! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Hi Grandpa Bob, I think what your wife is doing is a great thing!! Things will be just fine for her physically. I will have you all in my prayers! My hubby travels alot, I know its for work and not pleasure, or something like this, but I miss him terribly always and its so nice when he finally does get to come home. Its almost like I have fallen for him again and I get the same feeling from him. 5 days has been the longest and I did what I could to keep my mind off him being gone yet another night. I was on myLot, we will keep you company! And I spent a lot of time with my friends when I could. I found projects around the house to do or tried my hand at some writting other than myLot or I did something creative like drawing. Just know that things will be fine, your wife will be back in your arms soon and you will gain much appreciation and gratitude from her absence. Blessings!! Bay Lay Gray xx

Im not sure wether I should feel insulted, that I havent done a good job, or appreciative because hes doing something that I dont have to do! *big grin* Bay xx

I do the cleaning whenever Im bored. Be it when she is at work or asleep. I have been known to rearrange the whole house overnight. I also painted the whole 2 BR apartment years ago when the wife and kids were all asleep. HAHAHA! Well not the bedrooms. Those were done as thay woke up with me pushing them out their rooms. HAHAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You and dad will be just fine w/o Grandma Deb for a lil while. It's not the end of the world, ya know. I can see that we will be seeing even more of you here in mylot after Grandma Deb leaves. You'll be here 24/7 instead of 23/7.

I know it will be hard on you. My husband goes away every so often for work and I miss him so bad when he's gone. One time he was gone for two weeks and I was so ready for him to get back home. I just tried to stay real busy to make the time go by fast. Just get on here and type as much as you can while she's gone and maybe that will help the time pass quickly.

My parents were that way...never spent any time away from each other unless one was in the hospital and then they ususally stayed at the hospital with each other....That says alot about your relationship!

My parents were just the opposite. Dad would drive mom the 200 or so miles down south and leave right away so she could spend a few days or a week with us. I only wished she could have seen the grandsons. She is looking down on them now I know. But still.. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yes I have when hubby was in the army. He went to Korea two times for a year each time. Then other times he went to the field or NTC (National Training Center) in California for a month or more. It wasn't easy to say the least but we made it through it all. There were some rough spots but we smoothed them out and made it. Hang in there, time will go right on by if you keep yourself busy! BTW, have you noticed my star rating has gone down? I wonder why and who's cereal I peed on. LOL Oh well, it's just a number, huh?

I can't see my wife and I being apart for this long. It's never happened before. But we are both strong and will make it I am sure. I have not paid attention to anyones star including my own. It's just a small added feature that isn't a true reflection of ones ratings here in my eyes. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

It is great what your wife is doing for her brother! I would do the same for any of my own family as well. I have not been apart from my husband for medical reasons only work (he is Air Force). Actually I think we were apart more than together this year. The longest span this year was 4 months, then we were together a month. After that, he went overseas for 2 more months. I worried about him and he worried about me but we got through it. Best of luck to you both!

Hi Grandpa I do believe you will miss your angel and Im sure she will call you ever day. If you think about it its not really that long. I know 10 days seems like forever to you because youve never been apart so long. But what she is going to go through its not that long. Be patient with her and she will need you when she returns home. I have been away from my hubby for about 5 days tops but thats it. Not to worry we will keep you company!

She won't call each day. But I and she knows that I will. Hee hee hee! She's not one much for talking actually. Her work will need her after 2 weeks or more off. HAHAHA! The owners wife will be filling in for her though. They are good friends of the family as well. So this makes her being off work that much easier for her & the restaraunt actually. Thanks. Hi Grandpa Bob, This is such a great, brave thing, your wife is doing. Ten days does seem like a long time, when you're used to having her there. I've had to adjust to living alone many times in my life, and it wasn't always by choice, or easy. I managed to keep busy with my job, and friends etc., back then. Nowadays, there's just my teenage daughter, and myself here, oh, and I can't forget our cat, Anna Belle. I'm widowed by the way. My daughter has become very independent of late, and is out a great deal of the time, so I've had to make adjustments again. She's involved in many extra curricular school activities, plus she has a part time job. Being online, and having phone conversations, helps me to stay connected to people. Like others have mentioned, we'll keep you company here, if you'd like. I'm sure she'll really miss you too, but what a great gift she's giving. I'll continue to keep you in my prayers. Take Care.

I haven't been in your shoes. Praise the Lord for that. I do know that the University of Michigan cancer department is fantastic though. I have had many friends go through treatment there. Your wife will be in great hands. I'll be praying for your family.
