Ah, then it is not my pointless poetry posts you are talking about but some other person's, lol. Actually, in truth, I knew this because most of my poetry posts are pretty pointed anyway. I have not seen this person to which to refer....yet...probably it is inevitable that our paths must cross and then I will probably find her as annoying as you do. Ezra Pound she is probably not!
The other day, someone did post a delightful bit of poetry, though, and I replied in verse and got back a wonderful response and made a new friend. Thanks for clarifying.

Like the one you have posted...i am sorry...just kidding...but the thing is I am sure lots of people can consider your discussion as pointless and lacking substance...i mean honestly what substance is there in a discussion which is about other discussions being pointless....so never say others' are pointless...just cos we dont relate to the discussion doesnt mean that it lacks substance...

Well I have read your responses to others' opinions you seem to be concentrating on 1 person who is posting poems.Well i understand you.Posting poems may not lack substance but when the person doesnt respond to your views well then that beats the whole point of this being a discussion forum.Well i guess such things are gonna take place just ignore them and look out for the good discussions.I am sure the admin will take care of such discussions and delete them.

I wasn't going to reply then thought, why not.
Most of the discussions on Mylot are not discussions at all. Unless you happen to get someone who can bother to type a decent response.
Most ask a stupid question or state a boring fact both of which have been done many times before.
Some will show a youtube link and the words..."this is funny" or similar. Or "have you ever been in a car accident? Do share your thoughts" The latter is a great opportunity to have a real discussion. Describe a car accident you yourself have been in or someone you know and invite people to discuss their experiences and the safety issues involved, then share opinions. Why does it seem so hard for some to post something intelligent rather than just a few words making a comment or asking a question?

I see and understand your point. But let's stop for a minute. The platform here is for discussions. Not intelligent or boring or stupid or whatever else, just discussions. Given that, it really is snobbish of any of us to condemn a discussion based on our own preferences. All is fair here. As for the ones that merely say "This is funny", it is the simplest form of asking "What do you think?" or "Do you agree? If so, why? If not, why?" With the multitude of personalities in our fair community, there are at least that many interpretations of what constitutes a discussion, let alone a quality one. So let's bring our noses down and enjoy the immense variety available to us here. For discussions more "worth our time", we need to find sources that specifically cater to our definition of what is worthy, i.e. "Tell us about your car accident.com".

Define pointless. Where you and I most likely will agree on many an issue or definition, others may see our topics as pointless, such as my discussion pondering the beginning of life. Many will say "What's the point?" Others (so I thought) will say "What a great question!" Seeing that this is a discussion forum that is open to all formats, it is inevitable that all of us, from time to time, will say "What's the point in talking about that?!" Just a natural occurrence.
