Do you believe in out of body experiences or Astral Projection?

Out of body experiences? - out of body

Sometimes out of nowhere I start to wonder about odd things and about a year ago I started reading about Astral Projection and people who say they have had out of body experiences. I've learned that if you even want to give it a try you have to practice for a long time and I'm not the type who can just sit and not think about anything. I tried it a few times and gave up very fast. One of my favorite sites on the subject is the Skeptics Dictionary....http://skepdic.com/obe.html It explains a lot about the experiences that people have had and the reasons why they had them. What are your thoughts on out of body experiences? Have you ever had one? Have you ever done any reading on the subject?

No I don't believe in projection... I know it! Here is a couple of examples... 1. When I was really young - maybe two or three, I was playing in the ocean while my non-swimming mother and grandmother watched from the shore. Suddenly they got really excited and began screaming about something and I found myself in a wave. It is somewhat difficult to describe as I wasn't surfing or being pushed by the wave but I found myself inside an airpocket inside the wave. I noticed the inside was illuminated, somehow, while the "borders" were a swirling tanish-green. I was "in" the wave for approximately thirty seconds when I felt a hard slap on my back and found myself blankly staring at the shore. To this day I still have no idea what they were screaming about. 2. The spirit of Alaska was haunting me... literally. It was to the point that I would spit and my spit would take the shape of the state of Alaska. One night I had a dream in which I stood with some people on top of a mountain of Alaska with the most breathtaking view ever. While speaking with the people - about what, I cannot recall - it suddenly dawned on me that something was amiss... I asked, "How did I get here" and almost instantly I realized I wasn't there and said, "Damn... I'm not here, I'm still in my bed in FL asleep!" Again I slammed back into my body but this time with great sorrow. For the record I did go to Alaska and I absolutely loved it! Furthermore, I did get the opportunity to stand in the SAME place on the SAME mountain (Pioneer Peak in Palmer) as I did in the projection. Those are simply a couple of experiences I have had. Experiences such as these are much more common then most people realize and are so subtle and natural, most people simply dismiss them altogether.

Soul of Wolf, I'm amazed at you again. I too, have had an interesting experience in the ocean - I was 16 and thought that I could swim while stoned and drunk. I was a great swimmer - better than anyone I knew. I have been swimming since I was a baby. Long story short, I body-surfed right into the curl of a wave, lost my bearings, sucked in enough water to fill my lungs, breathed water for a time, and then began to pass out. I saw a hand in the water, I'd swear it. Someone grabbed my arm and pushed me until I felt the sand under my feet again. Fom there, I "awoke" suddenly, and pushed off the bottom. I stumbled out of the water choking, but alive. And no one had noticed that I was gone! Even the lifeguard had missed it. There is something (someone) even in othe waters of Long Island...and whoever it is seemed to know me. It might have helped that I have swum the same coastline all my life, but - how freaky is that? I am tempted to beleive there are some kind of sentient beings in the ocean that we do not know about - perhaps not water-breathing, but existing on another plane. Makes you think, eh?

It certainly sounds like someone helped you! My first guess is one of your friends manifested for your protection - it happens more often then it is given credit. As all reality is nothing more than a subset of energy, it is not too hard for manifestation to occur in times of distress. I too have experienced a manifestation in a time of extreme duress... It was time to leave. I had been with "Diabla" way too long and buffered her violent nature from the children but now she was becoming additionally criminal and broke into my car to commit check fraud. Neither my daughter nor her half-sister were happy with this mandated departure as the older girl realized, now she would bear the brunt of Diabla's negativity. It was devastating. I made an attempt to stay near the girls by staying at a friend's house for the next two weeks but it wasn't working and I really cannot recall the circumstances of those days. Anyways, I had to go home in order to regroup and figure a way to get the girls out, the half-sister to her father and my girl to me. Devi stated and an emotional wreck is how I drove the long road from Atlanta until I pulled into a gas station to fill up. Immediately I noticed a black man was staring at me from across the parking lot. I pulled to the pump and got out doing my best to compose my thoughts when he walked over. The lack of usual defenses surprised me as did his first words in which he mentioned my daughter's name; an original name I composed from several mythological sources and something NO ONE could ever guess especially someone who I never met and lived hundreds of miles away from anyone who knew us. I sensed what he was and listened as he gave me relevant advice concerning the situation and my current debilitating and destructive thought process. Not surprisingly when I got in my car to leave, I turned to thank him but no one was there. For the record, I have custody of my daughter and the half-sister is safely with her father. I am very grateful for my friend's emergency manifestation and was able to thank him later in spirit. On a fun note, as you mentioned you enjoyed body surfing... let me tell you how I get the big waves whenever I enjoy the surf. Regardless of the tide, I enter the water and begin to challenge the ocean calling it names like "girly man", "sissy" and saying things like, "I thought Neptune was supposed to have a big 'trident' "... soon thereafter bigger waves come... it works EVERY time!

I was listening to someone talk on the radio about this. They do it all the time saying he has traveled all over the world. I wonder, isn't he afraid of never returning to his body? I don't know aobut this stuff I would never want to try it. The bible is very clear about the spirit world. Many things people think are okay are not. They might be real that is for sure but is it a good spirit leading them or is it a spirit from the other side? Unless I knew it was something from God I wouldn't want to delve into it.

I have managed to learn a lot on the subject of astral projection and out of body experiences through reading and my regular listening to the late-night talk show Coast to Coast A.M. with George Noory. The subject is a frequent discussion on the program-also on their website. I believe that this world is filled with all kinds of possibilities, so why not astral projection? I believe it is even mentioned in the Bible. I have a book on the subject that was given to me by my mother several years ago. I plan to get it out and reread it in the near future.

Hey Ctry, yes, I've been on these many times, sometimes doing it on purpose, and other times it just happened. I have had what is called a Vision Quest which proved extremely interesting. It gave me answers to some questions I had at the time, and I met other spirits. I know it sounds crazy but I'm totally sane, haha. I use to work for a Native American Jewelry store and really learned alot about the Native American culture and their spirituality. I also had an astral projection which was not pleasant in the least, and saw something that till this day freaks me out. Nothing I could write about here on Mylot. I'm very much into the paranormal, psychic world, but do not practice this on a daily basis, it just happens when it does....very interesting subject.

I don't know, but I have had dreams that felt so real I couldn't think of anything else than that my body was actually there. I'm not sure about astral projections, but I think they may apply to those things I experienced in dreams
