So I had this discussion all typed up and then my computer went funky so here I go again. I am in a government class and we have an assignment to draw a political cartoon. I was trying to come up with an idea and was thinking about using political correctness as a topic. Then, I found this, http://kraftmstr.com/christmas/humor/pcsanta.html, I decided to draw ideas from this and go from there. When I am finished I will most likely upload it to this interest's photos. I was wondering what some of your thoughts were on how everyone has to be 'pc' these days. Whether for or against, I'd like to hear some of your thoughts. Some examples to think about: Santa saying HA HA HA instead of HO HO HO a flying hybrid, no reindeer due to animal cruelty and methane gas being emitted a holiday tree instead of a Christmas tree Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas vegetables instead of milk and cookies a skinny Santa promoting health instead of jolly plump Santa Claus Your thoughts?

I would have responded to this if I had seen it! I hadn't thought of animal cruelty- that's a good point. Definitely must be a hybrid to be 'green' enough. PC has definitely gotten out of hand. It's like people are trying to take the fun out of everything. The holiday tree gets to me the most. Ok, not everyone celebrates christmas, so we can't even talk about it? Then I don't want to hear about anyone else lighting a menorah or spinnign a dreidel. How about that!

It isn't even the holiday tree anymore, it's the WINTER tree. Now they are going to offend those born in the summer. What about the SUMMER tree?! I am so sick of this politically correct crap. Why can't people just ignore it if they don't believe in it? And I'm sorry but do people celebrate their holidays with trees? No, it's a Christmas tree, a Hanukkah menorah, etc.

But why should people even have to ignore it? There are plenty of things I see all over the place that I don't believe in, but I don't ignore them, I appreciate them as symbols of what other people believe in. I don't turn my head when I see a menorah, I just recognize it as a holiday tradition for people who celebrate Hannukah. People flaunt their cosmetic surgery, their fake fingernails, eyelashes, hair, pushup bras, skin tight clothes and tattoos, none of which I like or believe is a good idea. But do I cry that it offends me, so they should not be allowed to show themselves in public? No, I accept those things as differences between people, individuals as well as groups of people. Those differences are what makes life fun and interesting. We should embrace differences and take the opportunity to learn about people who celebrate different holidays and have different traditions, instead of crying no fair, you are flaunting your beliefs publicly. What a crock.

I cannot believe that it is getting so out of control. If you don't want to participate or believe in something, then don't. We had better watch or we are only going to be able to believe and say what the government says. It is just getting so blown out of proportion. I had not heard of the flying hybrid yet. How crazy!!!

Exactly, this PC crap is getting OUT OF CONTROL. It is one of the things that we discuss in one of my classes. My friends and I got so fed up with our "winter" tree in the commons at school that we put Christmas tree on a piece of paper and put it on the tree like an ornament.

We put it on a couple of days ago and it's still there. I don't think anyone has noticed it yet.

I can't believe I'm the first response to this!! You have a lot of good ideas here, and valid ones at that. I would've never thought of the reindeer cruelty! And ya know, I am shocked that nobody has made an effort to point out Santa's obesity.
