I may have been at myLot too long

I notice when I am reading anything I receive online now, I want to rate it, and respond to it, as if it were a discussion. I particularly want to do this with Chicken Soup for the Soul e-mails from Beliefnet . . . to let the writers know how much they have touched me, but it is not possible. I also just caught myself wanting to respond to an e-mail from Wayside Gardens, about a plant that I had seen, but not known the name for. Please tell me I am not the only one who finds themself doing this?

My day job has been canceled the last two days due to ice bringing down powerlines. I have gotten to be at home and clean and cook and be snuggly with the cats. It is so stress free, I had been worried about the housework as my daughter and grandbaby are coming to visit next week.I am alternating between computer and cleaning, and baking. It is a break.

Hahaha, I think you may have a total addiction to mylot.com Should you enter a twelve step program? Maybe so! I haven't gone so far yet so maybe there is still hope for me.

Thanks, hon. We are still looking at options. My hub got a phone call today letting him know that someone else lost their state car. I hope that isn't coming but it may open the doors to this old house again. We will see!

LOL. Oh yes GardenGerty you're loopey, and have been at MyLot too long. Heehee. And I love those Chicken Soup for the Soul emails as I get them too. I had a different problem. I no longer hang out there as much but I confess to being a die-hard Lord of the Rings fan and would hang out at the Lord of the Rings fanatic plaza, which is a lot of role-playing. Once one earns enough points one can choose a kingdom. So one can be a Hobbit, an elf, a minion of mordor, and so forth, I fittingly became a wizard (my handle is the same. Pyewacket) So when you do discussions there you have to be "in Character" But one can do an OoC post (out of character) and one can say, "In my Real Life" (RL) and whatever it is you want to say. Well I have a habit of doing that here! Like in my real life I have two cats. Uh, like what? A person would probably think I was touched in the head by saying that here. So while you might want to rate or respond to some other website like you do here, I have to curb my inclination to say, "In my real life.."

Thanks for giving me a good morning chuckle. I love it. I sometimes confuse myLot with my real life!!! Lord of the Rings was something I loved. I tried to read the Silmarilion, though, and got really lost.

I couldn't get into the Simarilian either..I keep telling myself I'm going to read it. The beginning is kind of boring..LOL

How funny! I find myself doing that with just about anything that I do (i.e., overdo) online. There are a few games that I play and I find myself applying tactics that I use in the game to real life, especially in the morning, when I'm driving to work. It's surreal.

I can see that happening. I wonder if I get three cars in a row of the same color if they will disappear!! That is funny to think of.

LOL We have a sound off page once a week in our local paper. I find myself wanting to respond to some of those comments quite often. Any time I read something I want to respond to it if I strongly agree, disagree or am somehow moved by the words. So no you are definitely not alone! ps, good to see you! Merry Christmas!

Lol well I just came back after a pretty long break from mylot so maybe I will find myself doing this again once I get back into the hang of things. Don't worry, my dear, it is good to be an active member on mylot. I see you have 8776 posts...that is awesome! This is something that will make people look up to you and want to achieve that many posts, so don't feel bad! Keep on my-lotting!

Well, i think you really have been at mylot too long... in my case... i now start dreaming about mylot... in my dream i am reading this sort of discussion and i want to respond but can't because there is someting wrong with my computer or internet connection... i was so frustrated that waking up was like a life saver from that dream... Are we having some sort of mylot fever?...

To me that would be a nightmare. I really like my computer, do not want to have anything go wrong with it. I bet some doctor would prescribe some medicines if we could prove myLot was a fever.

You have been at this a bit longer, so for you the pull may be stronger. Rating on some of the sites begins to feel a littler overbearing after a while though and I am not so sure that I like this new and "improved" rating system here on myLot with the many levels etc. You are right, though, as the other day, I automatically tried to reply to something on a forum--until I realized it would be necessary to join in order to log-in and reply. This was because I am now so used to myLot automatically logging me in.

It could be that I am a compulsive gabber, too. I have not found a forum I like as well, so far. So I do not get into them too much.

Just be careful not to do it to your adult children's mail. I almost did it to my daughter. She would have either thought I was nuts or thought I was trying to correct her writing like I did when she was a kid.lol
