I think its the age difference that makes you feel this way.Try to imagine some years back, when you listened to music, what would happen if you had a modern powerful bass-thundering stereo HIFI like we do nowadays.Wouldnt you listen to it at high volume?I think you would...Now, if you are also commenting the different genres of music, i can say there are still nice music albums out there, at all genres...my listening habits are kinda classic (no, not Beethoven and things like that :))just like classic rock bands of 70's.

The taste of younger gerneration is fostered by commercial musicians rather than their parents. The kids are attracted by one which are new to them. Usally seniors listen melodious music which gives them enjoyment with peace of mind. But the young blood requires new trend. Of course they will find real enjoyment in melodious music in due course. So we have to be patient. That is what I learnt from my life.

some people just like different types. There are so many types of music out there anyway. I like some of the power rock songs. I go by a song by song basis. If it has a good beat to my I like it. I can hear the differences between the music from the 80's and the music now. But there are always the classics.

LOL I think we're all getting older. Sometimes I also find that my kids music is too loud. I often asked them to lower it and they do it but they roll their eyes :) The thing is, if I look back, I remember my parents complaining about the same thing with me when I was my kids age. I wasn't even too much into music and I am not sure if I was really turning it really loud or if it was just because it wasn't exactly my parent's kind of music so it sounded louder to them. But the fact is that it was the same scenario including the roll of the eyes LOL I was part of the choir as well, both at church and at school. But I still enjoyed to listen to other kinds of music too. To me it didnn't sound loud. But it did to my parents. I guess it's the same thing now. Kids don't really feel it's too loud, we do :)

I am 18 and am very musical. I love songs from the 80's, 70's, 60's and all the oldies. I just guess it depends on what kind of person you are. Some people just like one genre of music but I like everything right now. But my top favorite would be Hip Hop, Rock, and Pop

That's really funny. Whenever I find out about a new song online or something like that I always make sure to find out who sings it and the name of the song.

everyone likes different genres of music.. and to be honest i love it all.. i have always been very musical... we have surround sound and we entertain alot.. to be honest our houses sound system is way better than a bar or club... we love our music and there is no what that we can get around it... with your daughter its cause of her age its the *in thing* she will find her roots somewhere along the line and maybe might even like the stuff that you like...

Its not that I don`t like the music , its more that I can`t even hear myself think . Let alone hear the TV ... I can`t even understand what the music is about , if I could I would just turn off everything in my house and listen to her but I can`t understand what the songs are saying its that type of music I can`t understand what the lyrics are about so I ask her what its about and she says she can`t understand it herself thats what I`m saying , so tell me why listen to it tat loud so everyone has to listen to it if you don`t know what the song is about ... Makes no sense to me does it to you ????

Nah, there are only three things that I currently listen to: 1. Anime music 2. J-Pop (Japanese Pop) 3. Self-help/success/personal development/wealth audiobooks on the go I don't listen to the radio much unless there's a good reason, like listening to the Clark Howard Show.

In my opinion it really isn't "just" that you're getting older! I've also always loved music, ALL kinds of music and every era or decade. It wasn't until the past few years that the "generation gap" caught up with me. I don't mean to be a snob but I don't consider most of what you hear on "Top 40" radio to be music, at least no what I'd always thought of as music. There are exceptions, but for the most part there's not many songs today I care to listen to. Annie

You know that is a good question as I have to answer, "no not as often as I should". If I could get untied from the 'strange of 60's, lull of 70's and bubble-gum rock big hair band 80's, I could expand my horizons even further. But my memory music is just so darn good !

Hi,there! I like music especially some light music. It helps me to calm down and consider about things better.I also like some pop music these days and when I go out with my friends to KTV,we usually sing very happily and freely. But I think no matter how much one likes sth,he/she shouldn't bother others.I don't think it's very proper to listen to music at 7am and make other neighbours couldn't do other things just because of his/her this hobby.Everybody has the right to love different kinds of music, but needs to care about other people cause we stay in the same society. Thanks for the discussion and have a nice day^_^
