leftovers

Does anyone here not like to eat leftovers or food that has to be reheated? Last night I made dinner and my son was working and it was one of his favorite meals. Well when I went to pick him up he asked if the food was cold. I answered yes but he can warm it up. He was so mad!!! I know how he feels cause I like my food to be freshly made also but it doesn't make me mad that it is not. That is life, it won't always be freshly made and ready when you are. But anyways after he calmed down a bit he ate. Just curious if anyone else is the same way.

In fact I don't like leftovers. But I always don't want to waste it anyway. So I will add some new ingredients next day and then cook it and eat it.

I do that sometimes. I take something from the night before and transform it into something totally different.

I never thought about adding something to my leftovers. I guess I wouldn't know what to add I am not very creative and I wish I were. Thanks for the tip!!!

Well, it really depends on the food and personal taste. For me some food is actually even better when it was done and then reheated the next day. But other foods don't taste as nice as leftovers. Now in the case of your son, he had no reason to be upset, if he didn't like what you were offering he could make something else himself. That's usually what I do with my kids. THey have the right not to want what I made, or leftovers if that is the case. But I won't make anything else for them. They can work it out by themselves if they don't want what I have. My kids are like me. Some leftover foods they love, some they just hate.

I agree some leftovers don't taste as good as freshly made but I don't like to waste food and let me tell you alot of food goes to waste at my house. Thanks for your input!!

I usually try to balance it as I'm cooking. If it's something I know it holds well as a leftover I make a bit more because it's ok if it's left. I just store it and we can eat it again. But if it's the kind of food that doesn't keep well, then I try to make the right amount of portions just for that time, so nothing is left. If it's not too much I will add a side dish or a salad that way everyone will be satisfied and there will be no left overs. Still, as you say , sometimes we waste some food too.

Well, young people get mad until they have to prepare their own food and realize what is involved. I cook for one person, myself only and it is more convenient to prepare meals where there are leftovers. If I prepare the food and eat it the same day after it got cold I just warm it up. The next day I change it a little. For instance if it is stew I add a little sour cream, it tastes different then. If there are some veggies left over I melt some butter and let it brown a bit and pour it over the veggies with some chopped parsley. If it is mashed potatoes I add an egg and make some patties and fry them. It is like a freshly cooked meal.

Yeah maybe he will change his attitude when he doesn't have anyone to cook for him and he has to cook all his own meals. Thanks!!

I love leftovers...if it's a good meal, I don't mind reheating it...saves me from having to cook :)

That's the part I like about it too not having to cook when we already have something made. Thanks!!

I am one of those people who likes leftovers. I usually make too much of whatever I am cooking just so that there will be leftovers. I usually end up having it for lunch the next day or sometimes we have a leftover night in which we use up all of the leftovers we have accumulated over the past week.
