Waking Up with a Weird Headache

The subject says all of this one. I woke up with an odd headache, and I do feel a bit warm (yea yea, I should take my temperature... maybe me trying to be "macho" :D) I also know waking up with headaches may indicate a problem. It doesn't happen chronically, only a couple of times. I took some medicene too and I've got my orange juice. My mylotting may not be so much today (maybe a few discussions, and I did do a few BRs today, congrats to everyone though for having some great responses). If anyone's got any thoughts on this, be my guest :) Another random question, do you think societies might be overmedicated (not just the obvious stuff), but even over the counter medications? They even have "-D" and other items that are BTC(behind the counter) and requires 18 yrs or older to order.

Hi pro I hope your headache is better by now. You might be coming down with something because the day before I woke up with the flu I had a terrible headache. Then wham Im sick! Another reason I think I got sick was I stopped my vitamins a couple of weeks ago. Now Im taking them again I really think they prevent us from getting sick. Feel better my friend.

I believe you're right about the vitamins. Several years ago my mom finally convinced my dad to take vitamins. When he ran out he dediced to just forget about taking them again. Just days after running out he said he was feeling run down. We suggested it was his lack of vitamins, and he agreed. BUT he was convinced the vitamins had something addictive in them to get a person to feel like they needed them. lol

I don't know where you are, but I woke up today with big headache. I called my best friend to find out that she has terrible headache.... To make the story short, weather is changing. It is going to be 52F tomorrow and 58F on Monday. I am in Chicago. Few days ago it was freezing cold and -25F. If you are sensitive, you can get weather related headaches like I have.

It could be the weather as mentioned by others. It was cold the last few days and now its warming up. While I don't mind it being warm... I did notice the headache with the temperature shift.

Could it be a headache from the change in weather? Every time the weather changes I get a migraine. I mean I have migraines all the time, but a weather change will trigger one of some sort. And yes, I believe we are overmedicated. Although I have taken myself off of several medications, I would love to get off even more. I feel that if I knew all the nutritional benefits of certain foods and herbs, I could get off a few more. All of the ones I take are to alter something in my body to get things working right. There is no pain medication and nothing that gives me a buzz, LOL. And I wonder what am I missing out on that would naturally make my body work right?

I have frequent headaches, due to having lightly moderate migraines and sinus issues, having a headache for me is not such a rare occurrence. The best advice that I can give you is when you feel a headache coming on, take something right then and there. The longer you wait to take medication for a headache, the less its effective.

Oh sorry you won't be on much today, progamer. Just a thought, sometimes when I wake up with a headache, it is a weather system coming through. Is your area going through a weather change? That could be it. As for over medicating, yes. I believe that too many people over medicate and so their bodies get to where it can no longer naturally heal itself. Myself, I am the opposite, I do just about everything before opening the bottle of meds... Here's to you feeling better, and for both our ratings to shoot up..:) blessings.

I wake up with headaches sometimes and it always seems to be sinus related. A good warm shower and some OTC Sudafed (or the generic) usually gets read of the headache pretty quick. When I wake up with a headache I make sure that I drink warm liquids all day with no dairy to make sure that I don't cause the sinus problem to get worse.

I'll still give the warm milk a try, but I'm also doing tea. ... ... Sedel... a shower sounds nice at this point :) Thanks for the thought.

Hmm, if you think it is sinus or congestion related, stay away from the milk. Milk has a chemical in it that causes mucus to get thicker thereby making any sinus or mucus related problem worse. You could use soy or plant based milks, just not animal milk.

Waking up with a headache could anything from a minor irritation, such as sinus or over sleeping or being too hot at night. Or of course, it could be the sympton of a virus developing. If no other symptons are present, it would be quite safe to take a panadol. If the headache doesn't go away, or other symptons develop, you could be coming down with something. This happened to my daughter last night & I was quite concerned that she was coming down with the gastro virus hubby & I had the past week. But I am emphasising good nutrition, drinking water, resting, etc to give her immune system a chance to fight off a developing infection. As for your other question, yes, I firmly believe there are way too many people taking too much medication nowadays. I dont really know what can be done about it except education.

I often wake up in the morning with a headache, but the doctors cannot find a reason for my headaches. I know i continuously have blocked sinuses and headaches throughout the day, more some days than others. I hardly ever take anything for my headaches because parasetamol doesn't seem to work for me and at the moment i can't take anything but that. I think some people do take too much medication for simple things like headaches and colds. I don't think its worth taking medicine for a cold because it goes away on its own, it just takes time. I just use vapour rub just before i go to bed and the worst part of a cold goes within a few days. ~Joeys wife

That happens to me sometimes, usually when I have an erratic sleeping schedule. You know what clears up that headache of mine? Coffee. Yep. I'm not sure about the explanation why. I think it's because of coffee's effect on the arteries that supply blood to the brain.

Do you normally drink stuff with caffeine? Sometimes when I get headaches randomly I will drink a caffeinated soda or coffee and my headache goes away. I don't know why it works that way, but Excederin has it in it and when I got a spinal tap headache the Drs. said that other than getting a blood patch drinking a large amount of caffeine would help it go away. It's weird but I will ALWAYS get a bad headache if I take a nap in the middle of the day. I have no idea why. Maybe it's my punishment for being lazy. :)

I know caffeine can do that to some people... but its hard for me to give up! Kind of sad, but very true =3 I'll have to stock on Excedrin, and on BC.

Do you sleep with covers over your head? I used to get a "turtle" headache. Lack of oxygen or breathing to much carbon dioxide.

I woke up with covers over my head, but didnt do that when I went to bed... so maybe during my sleep I covered myself. That could be it...
