What do you ususally do for your Birthday?

My birthday is this Friday and I don't know what to do. My parents have invited me over for supper and say I can choose between eating at thier house or eating out. I will probably choose to go to a resturant simply becuase I never get to go to resturant otherwise. Other than that as far as I am aware my birthday will porbably suck. We live to far outside of town to walk into town and I don't drive so I can't go anywhere while my husband is at work. And my best friend has to work that day so I won't have anyone to come visit me. I am hoping that I will have a good birthday but I am not counting on it. Maybe someone here at mylot could suggest something I could do to celebrate my birthday alone in my house during the day, so that it isn't so horribly boreing.

So you have a local cab company that you can call. The find a place where you can go and pamper yourself since it's your birthday I'm sure your hubby won't be mad if you splurge.

I couldn't do that. I am haveing a hard enough time just trying to decide what to do for my birthday meal because I am afraid I will make the wrong choice and it will not be what someone else wants to do. My birthdya never really feels like it's really about me. It always feels like its more about me pretending to be happy with what everyone else feels like doing so they can be happy and so I don't have to feel guilty about admitting that I'm not haveing fun and resultingly ruining everyone else's fun.

Happy (early) Birthday, mine is in a couple of weeks, the 19th. As for what I'll be doing for my birthday, well there is just no telling. My oldest daughter will be here visiting, and she usually likes to take me to lunch, when she can be here (we live 600 miles apart) and my s/o is always full of surprises, so not much telling there either, what he'll come up with for dinner. Maybe you should treat yourself to a 'you' day. Start off with some coffee and then follow that with a bubble bath, as long as you like. Then do something you like to do, crafts, read a book, do your nails, etc.

That sounds like a really good idea. I had a little money that I had gotten for my birthday early that I spend and bought myslef sunglasses, 2 nail polishes, and a facial massager, so I would have some gifts on my birthday morning, since I'm stuck at home, so I can use that stuff. Maybe I will get my husband to take me to get a bottle of champangeor something tommorrow night so I have it for my birthday.

Nothing. It is just another day for me. Usually filled with laundry and cleaning. If my husband isn't working we usually go out to lunch or dinner with the kids but we do that all the time so it isn't like it is some super special thing. My birthday was in December. We ordered pizza because I didn't feel like going out and that was about it. My husband did get me a gift which he usually doesn't do and cards (one from him, one from the kids). And my dad...he got me a camera, a very expensive camera that I wasn't expecting. Really, I expect nothing on my birthday. There have been years where all I got was grief. When I turned 29 I spent it rather pregnant carrying 3 huge baskets of laundry down the street to the laundromat with 3 small children in tow. Then I cleaned the bathroom and did the dishes and cooked 3 meals for the kids. I didn't get a single gift or card that day. And the only one that wished me a happy birthday was my oldest daughter. My husband ignored me. Which was slightly better then the year before when he told me if I didn't like his attitude I should just leave.

First off, let me wish you an advanced Happy Birthday, and many happy returns of the day. Since your parents have invited you over for supper (which shows they do remember your birthday) and going to a restaurant will be a rare treat for you, then I'd say let them take you out for supper at a restaurant. That would be a special treat for you on your special day, and you can use the session to bond with your parents and catch up on things. When their birthdays come by, you can reciprocate the gesture by treating them to a meal or inviting them over to your place for a sumptuous meal. As for myself on my birthday, I usually celebrate quietly with my wife at a local restaurant. It is a chance for us to have something special rather than the usual meals we take at cafes and restaurants.

Thanks. Going out to eat will be nice. I just wish I could go out and do something during the day. I enjoy spending time with my parents. They always remember my birthday. I just get depressed sometimes becuase it always seems like my friends have all this stuff going on on thier birthdays, more than me.

Hi Nykkee, Happy Birthday. I think you will enjoy your birthday, because I think it will be something you choose to do. You will make your dinner plans according to how you feel and what you are able to do. There may even be some surprises in store for you on your birthday. Take some time to enjoy the little things that make your life enjoyable whether it is a bubble bath or listening to your favorite music. You know what these little things are, do them and feel good about being blessed with another year of life and may you have many more. Take Care.

Thanks. I think I will have to try to have a relaxing day becuase I just don't have the resources to try for a fun day. It's just too bad my birthday is in winter. If my birthday was in the summer, I could take my dog and go to the lake for the day.

If you don't have anyone to accompany you or be with you during your birthday, why don't you have a movie marathon at home! You could watch a couple of DVDs of the movies you've missed out or even watch a Television series. Or you could even go to the mall your self and have a nice stroll. If you're really far away from town, why not bother to take the long drive and stroll along town alone just for a change. These are probably the few things I do when I'm alone at my birthday when my girlfriend is away on business. And sometimes, it actually works for me. Anyway, I hope you do have a Happy birthday this friday!

I would like to go to the mall and walk around a bit on my birthday but it is just tooooooo far away to walk there and a cab would use up the money that I would have to spend while I was there. If it were summer I might walk up to the lake for the day with my dog, but it is winter, and I live Canada, so everything is covered in ice and snow, plus, although we live in the country, the actual road we are on is like a highway, paved with no sidewalks, and very straight, so people drive retardedly fast and I am afriad to walk near the road.

I usually do what I do everyday. I do some housework, run errands, spend time with my husband and kids. I haven't had a birthday party in years! LOL But that's okay. I don't need a birthday party to help remind me I'm getting older, especially now that I am in my 30's. :P I hope your birthday turns out to be good! Happy birthday! :)

Going along with the pamper yourself theme, why not hire a masseuse to come to your house and give you a luxurious hour-long massage? It'll probably cost you the same amount as a fancy dinner out anyway. Or if the problem is that your bday is on a weekday so everyone is at work, why not put off the celebration until Saturday? Use Friday to go get your hair and nails done and buy yourself a new outfit. (Your town does have buses and cabs, right?) Or you can just do your own hair and nails at home, after your bubble bath. And maybe order in some delicious takeout instead of cooking. Also, maybe you should consider ordering a driving manual so you can start studying up to take the test. A driver's license would be a great birthday present to give yourself. And definitely jump your hubby's bones as soon as he walks in the door. Since it's your birthday, you might as well be in your birthday suit!

Well we do have cabs here but we do not have a bus. Unfortunalty there is not enough money for mr to b doing things like ordering myself takeout or getting a massage or going to the salon. We do have a health plan that allows is each to go to the massage therapist a certian amount of times per-year, but my husband usually use up most of my appointments when he runs out of his own, they just put my name on the recipet. I do have a couple new nail colors that I bought with birthday money I was given early, to keep it from getting spent on stuff that wasn't for me, like gas or windshiled wiper fluid, so I can do my nails myslef.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Early! I understand that how you feel being in the middle of nowhere and trying to make my day feel special but can't really get anywhere. I have done the bath and candles music and stuff thing but really I find that kinda boring. But what I did one year is I let the kids skip school and we went to the shore through the woods. I made a cake and they made me present. Considering I let them skip school for it they treated like a really special day and it was nice. But my birthday is at the end of May so it would be harder right now for that. Good Luck! I hope you have a great Birthday!

Thanks. I wish my birthdya were in the Spring before the bugs come out, or int he fall just after they go away. I would say I wish it was summer, but in summer the whole neightborhood is overrun with deer flys, which bite.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! What I usually do on my birthday is just celebrate it here in the house with my family or relatives if they visit me. Or we have dinner in a fancy restaurant :)

My birthday is this Saturday and I have planned on going out to my favorite resturant Casa Gallardo, Dave and Busters (a big arcade place for adults), and then to the Casino. I normally don't ever do anything because it normally snows on my birthday and ruins my plans. Last year I spent the day with my daughter in the NICU. She got her very first bottle on my birthday. Happy early Birthday. I hope you have a great day.

I usually go out eating with my roommate on my birthday. I think you can watch movies if you have no one to celebrate with.
